I remember sailing on lake Windermere in heavy rain like that . Best day ever, so much fun , we laughed so much our faces ached. This was hilarious,Thankyou.
The two of you being so excited to be getting off the ship... That was some adventure you went on. I would have the umbrella also. Plus a heavy waterproof poncho. They should invest in clear plastic covers for the carts. Also let you drive them the whole time. That said, it sure was beautiful and looked like a lot of fun. Something you will alway remember!
I did the same trip in May 2019 and we were so lucky as it was brilliant sunshine and everyone was taking their jumpers off because it was so warm. This brought back such lovely memories
Hope you guys enjoy watching us get so wet it took 3 days for our clothes to dry on the balcony 🤣 And the camera took 4 hours to dry out and stop steaming up the lens
I went there about 20 years ago and the glacier is so much smaller and the port area is much more built up and developed where you walk off the ship. You used to have to walk to the town along a road but now there is a new walkway for the passengers to get into town. Also the Loen Skylift is a great addition and so is the troll car. Great Video, we go again on Iona for the first time but your video shows just how special you can make it, even if the weather is terrible, it's still stunning. :)

We have done the trip twice, first time we had the same sort of weather as you, we walked all the way up, no troll car, we did have our decent walking gear on thank goodness. The wind and rain stopped when we arrived at the glacier so was able to enjoy the view. We did the trip again a few years later, the weather was glorious so shorts and T shirts we didn’t use the troll cars then either.
The old woden house is a original farm house around 150 years old. And the yellow, Green and blue houses are owned by mostly elderly who starts to have problem climbing stairs etc.
This thing of being a tourist is not easy, I never been in a cruise, the closest to it was the ferry crossing between Portimâo in the Algarve and Funchal, the trip to Funchal, sunny during the day, sea like a lake, from Funchal oh dear, absolutely mayhem, massive waves, rain and windy like. Norway is really fabulous, but it needs to be sunny to really appreciate de beauty of it.
Hi guys did u need to use the shuttle bus when u docked in. Norway as I use a wheel chair and not sure how accessible etc or if u need to go on the bus many thank lynda x and u are both great so much info and say exactly how it is well done guys x😂
You don't need a shuttle into olden as the ship docks in the town. But if you mean a do you need a shuttle for the glacier then yes. P&O might offer an accessible excursion to the glacier but they would sell out quick
This video was so funny to see - we were so lucky with our weather a few weeks ago, and I kept commenting how different it would be in the wind and rain. That segment about 12 minutes in with the wind make me laugh at the thought of us a few weeks back!
🤣Great video! We did the P&O excursion on the troll cars that morning and we got drenched as well, it made it so much fun though. The excursion included a cake buffet and tea & coffee in the restaurant at the bottom, much needed after getting soaked through. Our coach driver stopped off for 10-15 minutes at the beautiful lake on the journey back so we could get out and take photos, the rain had stopped briefly too. We loved the troll cars, we would definitely do the same trip again.

We were on the same cruise, at Olden we did the skylift / glacier tour. Skylift part was fine but driving to the glacier (different one) as we got off our coach to start the walk we had exactly the same experience, just gotta laugh what else can you do. So I know exactly how wet you got lol. Love your enthusiasm, I did see you a few times but you were busy filming. Anyway, keep up the great work guys, we enjoy your vlogs 👍 Vik & Simon

@@OneCouplesAdventure Yes the skylift was excellent, well worth it. That was our third cruise on Iona and we feel we've done it now. I know some of the food wasn't too my taste but in general there isn't much you can fault about the ship, it's well designed and does a great job. We reached the conclusion that we only ever used half of the ship for places and stuff we liked so it made sense for our next cruise to be on a smaller ship. Daytime entertainment was really poor compared to other ships, basically there wasn't any apart from an automatic piano, seminars flogging overpriced goods and bingo. If I could offer you any advice it would be in summer take a no fly cruise and in winter take a fly cruise as it's not much funny bobbing around for days whilst making your way to the sun. Definitely check out Marella cruises, booking late often gets you a good price and it's all inclusive (drinks too). The food and menu was superior (more choice). We find the Marella crews more friendly, more personal and they're allowed to have a laugh more with passenger, that's the advantage of smaller ships. Iona caters for so many passengers it's crossed over onto mass market and crew really don't have any time to interact, they're just too busy. Next year we're looking to sample a Cunard cruise, worried it might be a bit stuffy but judging from vloggers it actually looks OK. I might bring the tone down but hey, it's a risk I'll take lol. Only just found your channel but have enjoyed your videos. We did the Fjords on Britannia July 2019 and on our sail out of Olden it was snowing..lol, in July. Had to check when your cruise was as we sailed the Fjords on Virtuosa in May this year and the weather was stunning, hot, all day sun every single day. We’re never out of shorts during the day and got through loads of sun tan lotion. It really is one of those places where you have no idea what weather you will get until the week before you go. We have been on 35 cruises and so tried all the lines and most of the ports so if you decide to do any more and want any advice/ tips then just ask.
Hi Neil , thanks so much and it was the 21st of May when we went , think we ended up on a bad week weather wise lol. Oh well it definitely didn't put us off as we have just come back from being on the Virtuosa for a week so we have got a load of vlogs to come from them. And 35 cruises thats very impressive, must admit after the one on the Iona was booked by another family member we told ourselves it would be our first and only cruise as it probably wouldn't be our thing lol. Then we got back off Iona and immediately booked another on the Virtuosa and have got back from there and are now looking for one the end of September 🤣. Such a great way to travel it really is

Sorry to add to your woes but I went in June and the weather was gorgeous. Just lucky I guess, I heard the following week it peed down the whole week. I didn’t take the troll thing, I bloody walked from the coach park at the bottom!!! Coach driver : oh yes you don’t need the troll trolley, it’s not that far. Hahahahaha, lying sod !

Thanks, not sure if you could do both, the glacier takes about 3 to 4 hours and then its a hours walk from the ship to the skylift so might be abit of a rush to do both

I went to Olden & done this trip July 2023, & I was absolutely amazed. Norway is my new favourite place, no words can explain how stunningly beautiful it is. But yeah, that steep walk up to the glacier was a killer. I'm disabled with a stick, it was pure stubbornness & determination that got me up that first worst part. Paid for it dearly after, but any regrets!? Nope. Can't wait to see more content guys ❤ Edit.... Oh & the cake 🍰❤🍰❤️🍰❤️ I'd go back just for the cake at the glacier

Hi hope you enjoy your first cruise and we left a link in the Description of the company we booked with. And it did look quite a long walk but we couldn't say for sure the time as we took the troll car. We wouldn't of liked to have walked it but the weather was terrible. Might be a nicer experience with good weather 😁
The troll cars looked great, if wet. I went on the boat ride on the lake that day so managed to dodge the worst of the rain! Next time I’ll do the troll cars - making sure to have some more appropriate clothing than I took!
Great video, we are doing the same cruise in September. How did you book the Troll cars? I can see it on the P&O list but cheaper if we book separate. We are concerned if we book in advance directly and the port gets cancelled.
Hi David we put a link in the description of who we booked through. And also with it being our cruise we never even thought about what would happen if the port got cancelled so in the future we would most definitely check the company's terms and conditions for their policy on if this happens

I was surprised to see so much snow on the ground too, we are doing the Skylift at Loen from Olden and maybe the glacier via Olden Adventure or the open top bus if we have time. Hi! Fun video! The troll car operates regularly? How long it takes to go up to the briksdal glacier? Does it worth walking back instead of taking the troll car back to the pier? How much does it cost and need to book in advance? i am going there in sept. hopefull not as rainy?
We had to do something lol, we had the rain and the spray off the waterfall, no roof and only a wet plastic sheet to cover our legs. The bin was full of broken umbrellas
It took 3 days for the clothes dry on the balcony lol. I was trying to protect the camera but that didnt work. It took ours go stop steaming up. Im surprised it still works
@@OneCouplesAdventure you should have used the dryer in the laundry room that’s what we did. I had a bit of an accident and as we were walking back to the troll cars . My legs were getting faster and faster lol and I ended up having to grab a tree but still ended up on my backside lol
Oh right I mean it goes through security scanning every time we get on the ship on day of Embarkation and also the port days and nobody has ever said anything. If they did we would ask them to secure it till we got off at a port. I mean obviously we don't fly it off the ship but i don't see how They can stop you using it in ports. You can carry it on a airplane after all
When did they tell you, as you were getting on the ship with it? I just take it on with my hand luggage, p&o asked if they could use my iona footage so they can't be that bothered lol
I have taken it on 5 cruises now and not been told. I obviously don't fly it on the ship and don't get too close to the ship. If they took it off me then i would just ask for a receipt and get it after
We take it on every cruise we've ever been on, never once told no and it gets scanned through the machines at security every time we get on and off the ship so Until they tell us otherwise. You can take them on airplanes so we aren't aware that you can't on a ship

Last time I was there, the glacier almost covered the entire lake. You were met by a 10m tall glacier and a small pond in front of it.

Thanks, it felt like 45 mins in that wind and rain but it was about 10 mins max lol. There was one "steep" part but once you got up the rest was easy
Hi guys we are planning to do this in June so hopefully better weather it will be our first cruise . Just a quick question we decided to do the walk but how far is it and do you think troll car is better and which company was it you booked
Hi hope you enjoy your first cruise and we left a link in the Description of the company we booked with. And it did look quite a long walk but we couldn't say for sure the time as we took the troll car. We wouldn't of liked to have walked it but the weather was terrible. Might be a nicer experience with good weather 😁
The troll cars looked great, if wet. I went on the boat ride on the lake that day so managed to dodge the worst of the rain! Next time I’ll do the troll cars - making sure to have some more appropriate clothing than I took!

Great video, we are doing the same cruise in September. How did you book the Troll cars? I can see it on the P&O list but cheaper if we book separate. We are concerned if we book in advance directly and the port gets cancelled.
Hi David we put a link in the description of who we booked through. And also with it being our cruise we never even thought about what would happen if the port got cancelled so in the future we would most definitely check the company's terms and conditions for their policy on if this happens

how long is the walk from troll car to glacier? and how steep? my mum needs a stick to walk and we are going this September x
It's quite a tough walk and from memory about 20 mins but steep in parts and slippy if wet

@@OneCouplesAdventure wow, we are going the last week of April. I hope we get better weather than you had, such a shame you missed out on Stavanger. I was surprised to see so much snow on the ground too, we are doing the Skylift at Loen from Olden and maybe the glacier via Olden Adventure or the open top bus if we have time. Great and very informative videos, despite the missed port you seemed to have a great time.
Thanks Mark and don't worry too much about the weather as the week before us they had sunshine and no rain so think we just dropped on a bad week lol. Have an amazing time either away . The scenery is just incredible
Hi! Fun video! The troll car operates regularly? How long it takes to go up to the briksdal glacier? Does it worth walking back instead of taking the troll car back to the pier? How much does it cost and need to book in advance? i am going there in sept. hopefull not as rainy?

We had to do something lol, we had the rain and the spray off the waterfall, no roof and only a wet plastic sheet to cover our legs. The bin was full of broken umbrellas

It took 3 days for the clothes dry on the balcony lol. I was trying to protect the camera but that didnt work. It took ours go stop steaming up. Im surprised it still works
@@OneCouplesAdventure you should have used the dryer in the laundry room that’s what we did. I had a bit of an accident and as we were walking back to the troll cars . My legs were getting faster and faster lol and I ended up having to grab a tree but still ended up on my backside lol
Did you sign up for any license for the drone or not as im contemplating whether to or not
It was over a year ago now but didn't need a license at the time as it was under a certain size

we went in late may, but that doesn't mean anything with the weather. The week before we went they had nice sunny weather and we had wind and rain lol
How did you manage to get the drone onto the ship? I’ve read that I can’t take mine on their website :(
Oh right I mean it goes through security scanning every time we get on the ship on day of Embarkation and also the port days and nobody has ever said anything. If they did we would ask them to secure it till we got off at a port. I mean obviously we don't fly it off the ship but i don't see how They can stop you using it in ports. You can carry it on a airplane after all

How did you get a drone on the ship. They told me it wasn't allowed on board.
When did they tell you, as you were getting on the ship with it? I just take it on with my hand luggage, p&o asked if they could use my iona footage so they can't be that bothered lol
@@OneCouplesAdventure I rang and asked as I saw online they didn't allow it and some have said they had theirs confiscated as they got on.
I have taken it on 5 cruises now and not been told. I obviously don't fly it on the ship and don't get too close to the ship. If they took it off me then i would just ask for a receipt and get it after

Can’t take drones on board now
We take it on every cruise we've ever been on, never once told no and it gets scanned through the machines at security every time we get on and off the ship so Until they tell us otherwise. You can take them on airplanes so we aren't aware that you can't on a ship
Went for 7 days in April not even rain 1 day aprently it's rains 300 days a year
