So delightful to see this workflow!!! I'm just a dwarf with my little Sony a6300, but one day I'm going to be a giant....just like you, Alan Stockdale! Thank you for this inspiring video, Atomos.
3:47 Damn bro. You rode you bike handling that rig. I tried that with a bag of tacos and landed on arm staring at the asphalt. I did manage to save the tacos but I don't think I'll try that again.
LOG footage is HDR. That is, if you can record/play LOG footage, you can view/edit it in HDR. The reason you don't see it on a "normal" screen, or it might look blown out on a camera such as the FS5 or a computer/monitor such as the iMac is because those are Rec.709 monitors. As long as you set up your edit/preferences correctly, that is telling your editing software your grading in HDR; you can edit HDR content on the sumo out of just about any computer. I can use my MBP or my iMac and have used both to do so.
Thanks for your response, @@JCTechFilms. How is your MBP and iMac connected to the Sumo19? Is it simply HDMI? If not, what connection do you use? Do the graphics cards on your two machines support the necessary signal to a Rec.2020 monitor?

Hi Todd. Luke from Atomos here. Thanks for the question. At the moment the Ninja V cannot record ProRes RAW as there are no cameras that push a raw signal out over HDMI. Let me know if you have any more questions.
@@AtomosChannel Will you guys make an sdi module similar to the time code module that perhaps converts the SDI signal to HDMI. Like the stand alone ones you guys make that take the canon lpe 6 batteries.

would be fantastic to have a link how to use DNXHR RAW or CDNG RAW on PC/Premiere Pro. Everybody talks about prores! What about pc users? I use Inferno with fs700 on PP and I am completly lost when it comes to CDNG. I used the pure raw stills as a 'sequence' so I got the raw video file but it does NOT behave like a raw in terms of editing, comparing for instance Photoshop editing (same CDNG stills). My other issue is that Inferno blows out the highlights in DNXHR(external recording in slog2) while the same image is OK on the internal AVCHD...the monitor also showed correct image (HDR mode). Btw it would be also nice to have a proper Inferno review which explains all the features in depth and not just praise it...
Rastinfilm Rastinfilm YES. I wish they come up with DNXHR RAW. I’m a PC user too and have no plans on switching to Apple. It’s too expensive and PC is much more flexible. About the image you’re getting from your Atomos screen, I think it’s a bug that happens when you use Atomos with Sony? There are a few videos out there explaining how to use Atomos with Sony.
Thanks for the feedback, there's info online about the first section of your comment, send us a support ticket if you get stuck and we can point you in the right direction. We always record what comes out of the camera as full range and when an editing software interprets what we have recorded it can look different to the footage from the internal camera. In a future update we will have an option for full range/legal range. Thanks.
Hi @Thom Jensen, thanks for reaching out. Luke from Atomos here. The Sony FS7 is already ProRes RAW capable - all you need to do to record in ProRes RAW from the Sony FS7 is connect it to an Atomos Shogun Inferno which will receive the 4k Sony FS RAW signal and record that into ProRes RAW. Hope this helps.
They're the same. ProRes Raw is new codec as of April 2018. You can read more about it here. www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/docs/Apple_ProRes_RAW_White_Paper.pdf . Atomos announced support for this codec on April 5th, 2018 and they were the first ProRes Raw recorder on the market. www.atomos.com/press-releases/atomos-delivers-proresraw The only way to edit this codec as of now, is through FCPx. Atomos, You are amazing with how flexible you design your gear for future upgrades. Can I make a request? Can you work with Blackmagic to record Blackmagic RAW. Prores RAW is only good for Mac users, but you can run DaVinci Resolve on both Mac and PC. Or if between you, Nikon, Sony, etc, maybe you can pressure Adobe to start importing Prores RAW into Premier. That would work too. Thanks.

Does the FS5's still only shoot UHD or can it export true 4K through the Atomos? Also is there a minimum amount of time for a clip? Thanks
With the RAW upgrade you can shoot DCI 4k aka full 4k at 4096x2160. This also bypasses the cameras internal 8bit limitation.
