When the icemaker went out on our refrigerator, the cost of the replacement would have been almost $400.00. Congratulations on 385K views! I watched this video before I bought the Frigidaire countertop ice maker at Costco a couple months ago. I bought a Frigidaire side by side refrigerator this year and it DOES NOT produce enough ice. The countertop ice maker makes the same amount of ice in three hours as the refrigerator ice maker does in two days. The refrigerator has the ice dispenser in the door, so I just dump the ice from the countertop model into the refrigerator ice bin and dispense it through the door as needed. Thanks for making this review.
Due to 8 people in the household that love ice constantly, our built in ice maker in the fridge was always empty. I have the SS version of this one and it is a godsend. My friend has one , in fact it was in use at a party this weekend, it makes ice about every 7 minutes, pretty fast, and the ice compartment isn’t chilled, so if you don’t dump the ice out into a bucket, it will just melt back into the reservoir and be used again , can’t go wrong with it
I hate ice from the built in ice makers, because it’s just too hard. I took mine out for more space and also ordered a countertop top bullet ice maker from Amazon 2 years ago. I love it! Can’t wait for a more affordable option for nugget ice!
Had this model for 2 years. We fill it with water from a filtration pitcher. Chilled water works best (and faster, too,) so we remove the basket and let the first 2 or 3 iterations fall back into the water reservoir, then we replace the basket once the source water is well chilled. We move the ice to a container in the freezer so it is available all the time, and crank up the countertop icemaker when the freezer container is down to about 1/3 full.
I prop up or shim the two bag legs just lightly higher than the front so when the ice dispenser arm scoops the ice it’s slides more to the front and it doesn’t say “Ice full” prematurely..
wow.. i have almost the exact machine for 9 years now... the only diference is the command.. mine have Small medium large. only have one problem with the internals and replace a capacitor. besides that fantastic machine.. very simple and reliable.
Been using an ice maker like this bought at costco in April.... Here's the BEST way to do it... Fill ice machine with water... start making ice... when the basket gets full or whatever, get a gallon size ziplock bag... pour the bin full of ice into the zip lock bag... put the ziplock bag in the freezer... next time it's time to dump the bin... grab the zip lock bag... Use something clean/metal/ strong, like the end of a butter knife that you haven't touched....break up the ice that's been in the zip lock bag... then pour the freshly made ice into the same zip lock bag...rinse/repeat until the machine is done... a gallon sized zip lock bag holds exactly (give or take) the amount of ice that filling the machine up all the way will make... Once the bag is full... let it sit in the freezer for just a bit to get frozen... then break up the ice with the knife... Now you can dump the ice into your refrigerator ice bin and since the ice is all already frozen it won't fuse together... this is the way I do it and it works great.
This puppy looks to be a great alternative to both an in-freezer ice maker (in case yours is broken, or you don't have a water line for it) and an ice cube tray! This also means that you don't have to buy bagged ice, even if you're going to host a party!
We’ve had two of these. If you use them every day they last for about 6 months. They’ll need cleaning every so often. The ‘add water’ button never worked on either of our two units. The unit needs tending very often, because of the falling ice blocking the electric eye, as shown in the video.
Mine broke and started leaking this chemical. It lasted for about 8 months with everyday use. I enjoyed it but I will probably invest a little more in a more expensive model that can make clear ice.
There are a lot of similar ones around. We've used several different brands since we are on well water and refrigerator cubes not a good option. Ours runs 24/7 and we keep the reservoir filled with bottled water.

We have been using this model for a few years. A couple things to be aware of...You do need to take it apart and clean the area where the water sits both the reservoir and the tray that holds the water when making ice...and you may need to clean built up lint where the fan is.
Agree. You need to remove the back cover to access the internal heat exchanger (radiator). If covered with dust, use an old toothbrush to clean, then vacuum. Bingo, efficiency restored.
I am running into that problem. Literally have to take it apart to clean it. I was wondering if it was just me or if it’s an actual thing I must do to really get in there
When you guys take it apart to clean it does it take a while for it to get back cold ? I’ve cleaned mine for the first time and it’s letting out hot air on the right side. Any suggestions ?

These are very convenient because the ice pieces from these things make are just BARELY ice. I can't measure the temperature of one but using the device it has, it can only freeze at around 25 degrees, I would guess because of the way the dissolves in room temp water. I mean, in 5 minutes, it is gone. Normal ice from your 0-10 degree refrigerator lasts much longer. The idea from the video of putting your countertop made ice in baggies and re-freezing it is a really good idea because that brings it down to a more useable temp. Each cycle of 8 cubes only takes 8 minutes or so and the basket fills up fast. I have one at my liquor bar, that I fill with bottled water, because the taste of city water with all the chlorine really can screw up the taste of a good drink. But so can fast melting ice.
It makes what I call "wet ice." When I owned one of these, I used to have to take my cup and put ice in it and put it in the freezer for probably ten or fifteen minutes before it would freeze up the way it's really supposed to.
I just bought mine from Amazon a month ago. Today I have unboxed it and used it for the first time. It is very quick and easy. I just dump the ice in an old fashioned Rubbermaid ice bucket and put it in the freezer. My refrigerator's ice maker acts very temperamental. Sometimes it doesn't make ice. It is not worth the money to fix it.
Ii got one made the same from Best Buy. I love it I take the ice it makes and put into freezer bags and into the freezer. Love it.🧡 I always use the gallon jugs of spring water or drinking water from the grocery store not tap water.
@@melissagress3469 I let it make as much ice as I might need when the basket is full each time I put into zip lock baggies into the freezer for use as I need and I use the bottled drinking water from the grocery store.
Amazing little ice machine. I bought one to use on my boat. Makes plenty of ice and quickly too. I eventually bought another boat with a built-in ice maker but I still use this one also.
Works well, only downside is I find that the ice melts a lot quicker then chunks obviously due to the design of the hollow ice cubes. They won’t stay in a yeti overnight like chunks.
I purchased mine from Walmart. Didn’t purchase an extended warranty. The pump developed a leak. Still makes ice but when the pump runs it leaks so now I have a cookie sheet pan for the oven underneath it to catch water lol.
okay wow, our fridge's ice maker has decided to make ice at a rate of about 2 batches per day, can't figure out why it's 'slower' than it has been, but a new unit is about $250, so $89 for a tabletop model? SOLD! I do wish it could take a waterline though, i wonder if there's others that can. Thanks for showing me this, i had no idea this existed!
Just ordered it from costco online, we just got a new fridge and we are not connecting the water line. We want 0 issues with this fridge if we can help it in the next 10 years at least.
I just need to know how to get to that little bucket in the back for cleaning. That little bucket gets slimy sometimes and I cannot get my hands in there to clean. I hope Frigidaire is taking notes.
got the same model, just made with the UK brand 'cookworks' while i find it handy, its not 120GBP handy (bout 135 dollars) but handily i didn't pay that, it cost me 8.99 (11.50usd) from our version of goodwill, for 10 bucks, its worth the money. though will say its a little bit on the noisy side whirring, humming and clunking. so if you're using it for a quiet party (chatting over drinks) leave the machine in the kitchen or pantry. and on the large vs small ice cubes, personally there's not much difference (unless you throw them in the freezer after, then the water on the larger cubes freezes them to be about 20% bigger vs small) though if you're the type of person who likes to crunch your ice, the smaller ones are easier to crunch for those interested, you can use other liquids rather than water, so long as your machine has a autoclean function to flush the pump and pump lines through, though wouldnt reccomend it. but its your appliance, im not the boss of you, if you wanna make some franks red hot ice cubes to cram inside a hot pocket so you dont burn your mouth, go nuts.
I just got a Frigidaire ice machine today I been sitting here from 7pm my freezer is full of ice I have no more room for more ice and it's now 10:30 pm ice machine is still making ice when they said 26lbs I thought they met machine was 26lbs not how many lbs of ice. It is not worth the money to fix it.
Same here mine icemaker was giving up. Cheaper than a replacement
Ii got one made the same from Best Buy. I love it I take the ice it makes and put into freezer bags and into the freezer. Love it.🧡 I always use the gallon jugs of spring water or drinking water from the grocery store not tap water.
Spring water may , or, may not be hard. Many commercial ice makers are hooked to a RO water system.
Do you have to freeze the ice or can it just sit in the basket?
@@melissagress3469 I let it make as much ice as I might need when the basket is full each time I put into zip lock baggies into the freezer for use as I need and I use the bottled drinking water from the grocery store.
Thank you for this video! It answered the couple questions I did have! We just bought this ice maker & I agree it is great! :)
Had ours for 3 months now... Still going strong... Thanks for watching! ⚡️
Wait a few months when it stops working.
Amazing little ice machine. I bought one to use on my boat. Makes plenty of ice and quickly too. I eventually bought another boat with a built-in ice maker but I still use this one also.
Very cool! ⚡️ Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
Excellent review! all the necessary info for viewers
Thank you for the kind words!
Very useful and detailed video. Just the explanation I was looking for. Thank you👍👍
Thanks for the demo and info, have a great day
I have one of theses for my motor home. It’s great for drinks when camping
We just got ours and the select size button is not allowing us to choose. hmmmm???? Any ideas from anyone.
The best video yet.
Works well, only downside is I find that the ice melts a lot quicker then chunks obviously due to the design of the hollow ice cubes. They won’t stay in a yeti overnight like chunks.
I just got my at Walmart 88.00 thanks for showing me how this works
I purchased mine from Walmart. Didn’t purchase an extended warranty. The pump developed a leak. Still makes ice but when the pump runs it leaks so now I have a cookie sheet pan for the oven underneath it to catch water lol.
I like scooping the ice using my cup instead of using a scooper do you know if that would damage the machine?
okay wow, our fridge's ice maker has decided to make ice at a rate of about 2 batches per day, can't figure out why it's 'slower' than it has been, but a new unit is about $250, so $89 for a tabletop model? SOLD! I do wish it could take a waterline though, i wonder if there's others that can. Thanks for showing me this, i had no idea this existed!
Try replacing the water filter.
Question, when you chew, bit into these cubes, are they SOFT and crunchy? Compared to a regular cubes from a regular freezer.
Very cool little machine. Thank you for the video!
Thanks for watching! ⚡️
Cool, didn't know these existed. However I have one ice tray I fill up every 2-3 days last me all week.
I just got one. How do I shut it off ? When I hit the on/off button just blinks.
So what happens to the ice that is dispensed if you let it sit does it start to melt or is it cold in that chamber
I just ordered Me one.
Going too look good on My counter Top with my other appliances.
Just ordered it from costco online, we just got a new fridge and we are not connecting the water line. We want 0 issues with this fridge if we can help it in the next 10 years at least.
Thank you fir the perfect review. New subscriber here
If you make ice during the night will it keep ice cold, or does it thaw and keep making ice?
What makes water go up to make ice? I got a used and it just not making any ice. What am I doing wrong?
does it keep the ice cubes frozen or do I have to take them out and put them into freezer?
Does the water plug pull off or twist on to open and drain water after use ? 😮
This are awesome to have, I have one at home and another one in the office.
If you use distilled water will the ice be clear?
What caliber ice bullets does it make? 12, 16, 20 gauge?
I just need to know how to get to that little bucket in the back for cleaning. That little bucket gets slimy sometimes and I cannot get my hands in there to clean. I hope Frigidaire is taking notes.
Will the ice melt if you leave it in there or is this thing like a little refrigerator?
Is the fan loud while making ice?
got the same model, just made with the UK brand 'cookworks' while i find it handy, its not 120GBP handy (bout 135 dollars) but handily i didn't pay that, it cost me 8.99 (11.50usd) from our version of goodwill, for 10 bucks, its worth the money. though will say its a little bit on the noisy side whirring, humming and clunking. so if you're using it for a quiet party (chatting over drinks) leave the machine in the kitchen or pantry.
and on the large vs small ice cubes, personally there's not much difference (unless you throw them in the freezer after, then the water on the larger cubes freezes them to be about 20% bigger vs small) though if you're the type of person who likes to crunch your ice, the smaller ones are easier to crunch
for those interested, you can use other liquids rather than water, so long as your machine has a autoclean function to flush the pump and pump lines through, though wouldnt reccomend it. but its your appliance, im not the boss of you, if you wanna make some franks red hot ice cubes to cram inside a hot pocket so you dont burn your mouth, go nuts.
I bought the same product at Walmart for $59.99 and it works great.
how do you clean this type of ice maker?
How do your ice cubes look so big, I just got mine and they r coming out really really small and very see through
I've got one of those! Had no idea where it came from though lol. Use it in my RV to make ice 👍
I use my in my RV as well. It’s been a great addition as I am an iceaholic and Rv freezer is too small for a bag of ice
I just got a Frigidaire ice machine today I been sitting here from 7pm my freezer is full of ice I have no more room for more ice and it's now 10:30 pm ice machine is still making ice when they said 26lbs I thought they met machine was 26lbs not how many lbs of ice. Only 4 bottles of water and it still going
This was helpful. My best friend gave me one of these and it didn’t come with a manual
I got mine from Costco too love it 😀
Do you know how many watts it runs at? I want to purchase one for camping and use my power station.
Help guys does yours make a loud buzzing noise after releasing the ice with heavy use? After using it for about an hour it makes a loud buzzing noise after releasing ice is that normal?
So what's the shelf life? Who repairs these once it stops working??
So I'm really interested in getting one it looks really awesome and how many ice is there to choose from? I like the hospital ice 🧊 cubes easy for me to chew bc I have teeth are missing and I'm going to get my teeth fixed soon I just always liked the small cubs better . When it started to move it wad kinda freaked me out in the video I wasn't expecting that lol 😅. Thanks for sharing this video. God bless
Mine broke in less than 2 years. Any repair videos
