I keep an ice chest filled with drinks for delivery drivers in the summer as it commonly gets to 110° here in Oklahoma. I was spending so much on bags of ice. This is the ice maker I got this past summer & it's wonderful 👍I'm able to keep the ice chest completely filled 24/7 with ice for the drinks June through September! I love this thing!!!
@@KeriPratt you have the same one i have so far it's worked great the only down side i see is that i wish the ice didn't melt as fast as is does but other than that i think it's worth getting
Thank you so much for your video on the ice maker. I bought mine from Amazon, no name brand and I've had it maybe couple of weeks, and the little screen in the reservoir came off. No idea how so I watched your video and it showed how that grid was supposed to fit. I put it on and now even though I have three "small" light pressed I'm getting large harder ice. It still works; we'll see.
I love my ice. Just bought this tonight. By the way, in the UK they don't have fountain drink machines at their convenience stores to get ice. I was ice deprived 😭for two weeks. It was awful. The only places I could get ice were the Pubs and restaurants. When I'd ask for ice for my Contigo water bottle at the Bed and Breakfasts they gave me maybe 2-3 inches of ice. WTH? The others would laugh and say "Ice? Oh that's an American thing." Then we couldn't find ice trays anywhere to put them in the fridge at the Youth Hostel. I'm from Colorado so yah, it was different than what I was used to.
@@KeriPratt not sure I'll be able to take my machine when I go back next year to Scotland. The weight in the suitcase or carry on, and I'd have to have a special adapter for the wall socket.
@@KeriPratt I was hoping you'd answer the one question I still have: does it have a cleaning cycle? Many of this size do, but this brand doesn't mention one. (Some have buttons, but often there are just instructions on what to do with the existing buttons so you can't tell by looking at the panel.)
@@Growmap it does not have a cleaning cycle. I have to do that manually, by removing the water, disinfecting the inside surfaces, rinsing the unit, then I have to allow to rest (after tipping it on the side) and it’s clean and ready to use.
Just got mine .. It was actually a return @ WM .. only cost me 1/3 the usual price. No instructions inside, but I should be able to find them online somewhere. I do notice the lid does not fully close on the front edge - there is a slight gap. No idea why, as there is not actual latching mechanism for it and it's apparently not adjustable. Does yours have that gap?
Same here I fixed the gap thing but it’s not making ice lol make sure the lid is completely clicked together before closing it. Mine was slightly gapped just give a squeeze until the lid clicks then try to close it again.
I want to know how it’s working after 1 year if it’s still working? As I was told to never use till 24 hours of sitting after taken out of the box and 2 hours of tipped . And to never ever use reg tap water only bottled water 🤔 using reg tap water have u had any problems with it yet? Is it still working well?
Those a great questions. A year later and the ice machine is still running and working well. I have from time to time to drained the water and wiped down the inside of the reservoir with Lysol disinfectant wipes and then rinsed and dumped the water again, before using the machine. I live on an acreage and our well water is clean and pure with no additives, so I wonder if we lived in a city, if the city water would be harder on the machine. It still works great and I’m happy with it!
Ok. First big batch done last night. I made a tall glass of ice water in a Ball drink glass with handle. Filled to the brim with ice, put it on the table, then the cat wanted it. I was like "what in the world?" When I tried to take MY ice, she'd swat at me. 😆
No idea, just last weekend I did use distilled water for 2 days. The campground water smelled funny and I didn’t want to put it in my machine. It didn’t seem to affect it (so far)
I haven’t felt like I’ve needed to clean it since I’ve begun using it. I also haven’t emptied it, because it’s stayed in one location. When we go camping next week, I do plan on taking it in our holiday trailer. (I’m definitely going to make sure it’s empty while we travel.)
By on, do you mean plugged in? Or constantly running through an ice cycle? Mine is new and I’m still a little confused by it… it seems to take forever for ice.
I got one a few days ago at Walmart for $145 Canadian and I love it. actually bag my ice and put it in the freezer for future use and I was surprised at how fast it made ice. My instructions though say not to put it near any source of heat so you should find a better spot for it.
Agreed, I have one and it seems to work great, however, the ice is wet when I take it out and place into a freezer for storage so the ice sticks together which is annoying.
don't use distilled water????? Well, I use reverse osmosis and when I check the PPM with a meter it's only 2 to 3 PPM... But I'm trying to think of any reason whatsoever that they don't want you to use distilled water??? Weird
The not using distilled water is what the instructions says. I'm not sure why, but I'm one of those people who like to read the instructions so I thought I'd share.
@@KeriPratt Keurig instructions say the same thing.. I just don't understand the reason for it...there must be a reason though....I don't use tap water with anything....and the very least I use reverse osmosis... it keeps everything that uses waater SO freaking clean...

@Terri Siler you can empty it by pulling out the little plastic plug underneath on the right corner but hold a container underneath to catch the water that’s being emptied out. When it’s done just put the plug back in.
Warning!! Don not purchase any Frigidaire product. I purchased ($2000+) a frig in October. I would imagine that to be true. I have had to clean my ice machine a few times over the years.

It has a certain level of noise, but I wouldn’t say it’s loud.

Tap water 💦
How long did it take to fill the basket?
About an hour of continuous running

My first batch of Ice is transparent. Don’t know if that is normal or not.

Did it taste plasticy at all after using it for the first time ?
I personally didn’t notice, but I’m not sensitive to plastic tastes.
You can’t have it next to the the stove or microwave
I’ve since moved it to near my sink, I needed the counter space for the air fryer.
We love are ice machine for summa camping and traveling with the kids all the time so awesome 👌

How do you clean it prior to use?
I would you a water/vinegar solution to wipe down the interior surfaces. Then ensure that it is well rinsed afterwards, and before you begin using.
Keep it on 24x7, then always ice ready
Great tip! Thanks
