Hopefully this video helps alleviate some of the confusion on what to buy when playing the game for the first time or returning to the game after some time away!

I paid 100$ for D2 when it came out. Not only is it now free, but the dlc that I paid extra money for isn't even in the game anymore. I'd like to play the game again but I can't justify spending any more money on it because what they did with sunsetting was absolute bs.

Returning player after 3 plus years
Same just came back after a few years games ok I guess but that original story was class
I use to play d1 a lot but stopped playing when d2 was released. I whole heartedly regret that I stopped playing because as I have started paying again iam having tons of fun, lots of things have changed but this video has helped alot. Got to catch up on the story for now but I hope it dosnt come to an end any time soon.

Notably anything you purchase is not guaranteed to stay in the game. If you purchased destiny on release everything you paid for is literally not in the game anymore. I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. It is not worth buying ANY content for this game because it can genuinely just be vaulted or REMOVED from the game at any time. This company does NOT respect your money. And having to pay 100 dollars ANNUALLY should not be the way you you should have to keep up with a live service game

its weird...me and a couple buddies wanted to jump in and had no clue what we coul do after the cosmodrone.. I never seen we could do any raids or that special even you speak of....its VERY complicated to know what we could do as new players...

Half of my hours in this game is me trying to figure out how to navigate. Like how to properly achieve the story instead of bouncing around and i don’t even know what to do? I’m always confused?
Played D1 & ported my character to D2 but won’t It be able to port my stuff from D1 to D2?

I literally just bought everything except light fall
If you own the game on PC and on Console, you need to have the same content unlocked on both platforms to play the same content. I know cause I have it on both PC and Xbox but on Xbox, I am short 2 DLC and I cant access the content or subclass. Once it goes on sale I plan on picking that up on Xbox. So again if you want to play the game, with cross platform progression, you will need the exact same content on both PC and Xbox or PS. You can still play if you don't have it unlocked, but any of the story or subclasses that are associated will be disabled.
However very well done bro! An excellent breakdown and straight to the point. Destiny 2 honestly is worth it. Tons of content, tons of stuff to chase.
Exactly this but this for new players that will be playing in only one platform though. It’s extremely expensive 8 year hobby that I have with having buy dlcs twice each time. Wish you didn’t have to do this but cross play and progression is costly

so I just bought the collection for steam from cdkeys, will I be able to play dlc on xbox if linked to same account? new pc is kinda a potato in terms of graphics and is unupgradable. I have not started yet.

I came back and Thais are just gone
And I gotta say, ignoring the story and just doing whatever I want to do (crucible gambit, vanguard, dungeons) I just go do it and haven’t even paid attention to the story cause it’s so far gone from me that I don’t care. And trying to figure it out makes the game not fun. So if you aren’t having fun in destiny as a new player, forget that it has a story and just play it as MMO shooter looter
(I have like 50 hours on just the free version) I have no reason to get the expansion
I bought the 30th anniversary one for more extra stuff to do, and it’s been great. I squad up with new players and they all leave once they realize you have to buy most of the story cause they don’t realize the game is just fun, don’t even pay attention to the story.

So wanted to get back into destiny. I have the Destiny 2 forsaken legendary collection. But doing some research I guess those expansions are no longer playable?? Am I better just downloading (the Witch queen) off ps plus ??
Honestly it's personal preference, but the witch queen is really really good, but you probably want to check out lightfall too, especially with the final shape showcase coming tomorrow

I've deleted all my game's just to play destiny 2 currently downloading and it's gig's are expensive it says it's 71 gigs intotal for three included packs so dumb but worth it

Probably not gonna get a lot of end game fulfillment, but it'll keep you busy in between games and if you spend enough time in there maybe you'll feel like buying a DLC or two, a lot of them are cheaper now than when I made this video
I was extremely smart about Destiny. How much the game was in the expansions all the way back when it came out was absolutely ridiculous. I officially bought Destiny one to taken King came out on my 360 and then when iron Banner came out I bought the collection on Xbox One and then with Destiny 2 I haven't touched anything about it just because knowing Destiny 1 came out not only 2 years but that's just ridiculous I know the money they were asking was absolutely ridiculous I would wait in the long run. Knowing I waited and watching so many people waste their money and bitching satisfies me
As a d1 player that stopped playing after d2's first small dlc I've recently been missing destiny, but good god what a trainwreck all of this is (not the video, its well made and comprehensive) i was dissapointed when i came back to play beyond light (when it was on game pass) only to see all of the game i payed for originally was gone. Now its somehow worse? Entire dlc stories gone and story being locked to a season and forever gone now? What an embarrassing, greedy and nonsensical game. Im so sad to see how a series i once loved has ended up. Guess im not coming back after all.

@@Monkeyman-qt1sm sadly yeah, if you want to try and do the current season pass you'll probably be best getting the Lightfall deluxe as they're about to put the price of each season up from 1000 to 1200 silver which is a whole nother thing, if you're unsure though maybe just grab Witch Queen for now and then worry about the dungeon key later if you're still playing

Destiny is a weird one as I don’t like a lot of there business model with this game. Having story driven Season passes with some passes you can’t get now being a new player and have to watch a UA-cam video blows my mind and is crap lol 😂 having it free to play is a nice olive branch but ultimately for getting a free to play game your still dropping well over a 100 quid nearly creeping up to 200 which is madness lol 😂

@@BobDuckNWeave Yh I’ll definitely just watch from a distance. To give them credit I feel they are a bit screwed either way though. Getting new players on to a game makes sense and definitely helps with longevity. But if they made more and more of the content free for new players it’s a slap in the face for the original players that had to pay for everything. But at the same time it isn’t really a free to play game lol 😂 at least not in the traditional sense as the worth while parts of the game are blocked off unless you drop those money bags 💰

y-you don’t need the dlcs to be effective i’m a little ways off of 1810 and all i have is beyond light which i got for free via ps+ there’s still a ton of things you can do as a f2p in d2

it depends on what you want to experience, if you go straight to Lightfall you'll miss a lot of context for the story, but with Lightfall you'll get the Strand subclass, generally though I'd say Witch Queen first then Lightfall, but that's a decision you'll have to make unfortunately

Is sad that a lot of story missions are not available any more 😅. What is the reason for that?
Technical difficulties a couple years ago.
There were a lot of activities, locations, side quests, etc that limited the use of the game’s engine.
Around the time this was removed from the game, they started to implement the seasonal model instead of a expansion model, meaning that they would be adding more content to the game at a faster pace.
When Beyond Light came out they would need to upgrade the engine because of new features added into the game.
All of this combined lead to the removal of the oldest content on the game (year 1 and 2 story content, year 1 expansions, side quests, some destinations, raid content and so on)
Since then. They’ve managed to upgrade the engine good enough for them to no longer needing to remove any more content from the game outside of rotating seasonal content each year.
So, they’re not removing any expansion content anymore :)

@BobDuckNWeave as someone coming back to the game as I played all of D1 and didn't make it past the first month of D2 because of how much they ruined it... it's pretty annoying how much everything costs for someone who is trying to buy a full game and not just bits and pieces. Your video was great but it can't fix the mess that they have created with their payment structure and the fact that they remove content completely from the game. I'm playing for free now but after watching the video I kinda feel like not playing at all because of the decisions they've made. Ill not be able to truly go through the story at this point.

Crazy how this game is basically 30(60) + 50(100) = 80 to 160$ to get into, knowing they're going to do another 50-100$ dollar expansion.

What a great and fun game destiny but holy hell what a scam it is, having to spend 20-30 bucks every years or so and also loosing content u already brought.
