My father started his apprenticeship as a " Stellmacher" (Wagner) in 1949. When he finished his apprenticeship in 1951, his master gifted him a carpenter's bench. He was allowed to pick out the materials from his wood depot and build it himself.
The workbench was made in the French style from an almost 200-year-old oak tree that had been stored for 30 years.
And no matter how many times he moved, the bank always found a place. His pride and joy.
    Greetings from Germany

Thought I caught a mistake seeing the slight gap on the edge board. Then realized it was for expansion of the top. What a pleasure it is watching these videos!

I saw that too, then thought "he's good enough to not leave any gap like that" , so realized he did that for a reason.

    Dear Mr. Ishitani,
May i make a suggestion about clamping techniques, if you don't mind? There is a setup, where you can place your pipe clamps vertically on an inclined panel- against a wall. This allows for easier access, keeping the floor clear, and most of all, avoiding back pain. Because some long and large glue ups can be very heavy. You're still young, but as the years go by the body gets tired and needs to save its energy.
Other than that, I have watched many of your videos, and I really appreciate your very fine craftsmanship, and your constant approach towards beauty. You are gifted person, and your work will surely go down in furniture history. Sending you my kindest regards from France.
