If you talk to those protesting on US campuses, many of them don't understand the issues, and many get their info from mainstream media as well as social media. I got a lot of sympathy for Israel and it's situation, but "who started it" is no carte blanche to a war that is so extremely harmful for civilians - something that is clearly hurting Israel internationally while they are dealing out all this punishment that's likely to produce something worse then Hamas combined with ISIS, and supported by people in the Western World.

Agreed. I think the Nakba displaced 700,000 people, and the 1967 Naksa displaced another 300,000. And then they have the audacity to say that it started on the 7th.
The Nakba consisted of massacres of 71 villages, Palestinians driven from 531 more villages - creating ~750,000 refuges who mostly went into Gaza. UN made a huge mistake in partitioning and creating Israel - leading to 77 years of Israeli oppression and incremental genocide of Palestinians and conflict.
I'm beginning to think that rejecting a UN resolution offering you a state and starting a multifront war together with multiple countries against the newly established Israel and reducing its population by 1% and then forcing 900k Jews to leave their homes across the muslim world was an even worse idea.
A little more self criticism and accountability will serve you far better than shouting and complaining. Or at least help you build foundations for a functioning state that is more concerned with improving the lives of its citizens rather than obsess over destroying another

But you’ll then report on these same ignored people as being prisoners, not hostages. Tell both sides and stop being so friendly in these interviews. The old community of Jews that used to live in Gaza perished in Islamist riots of 1929, concurrent with dozens of other communities, the massacre in Hebron was documented, you can see the photos of that ISIS style massacre in archives of the NYT. Photos like the gut churning photos of the massacre of Oct. 7 only in black and white.

When the conflict began, as an American I was really impressed by the British channel 4 coverage here on UA-cam, as for every issue they would bring on and grill someone from Israel, and someone from Hamas/someone who was at least very pro-Palestinian. 60 minutes could do a lot for it's credibility if they actually talked to someone not affiliated with the Israeli state....
