Unfortunately, the specificity is still much too low to expect it to improve diagnosis over existing methods. The one thing they didn't cover that is most likely to be the major benefit is cost and ease of performing. This could be significant, especially in resource poor areas.
Discovering it this way, knowing that it"s mutation is unbelievably hard to cure, I think we could go into a extremely good direction. Lost my mother like that. Nobody deserves this type of suffering,
Funny enough, it's not hard at all. With AI, the entire human genome has been decoded. DNA editing has been in the works and soon gene splicing will become a thing. There's hope for your love one's to be cured from any illness/disease/physical disability
The Galleri Cancer Screening test is not a new test it has been available for a year or two. I took the test 6 months ago because I am a recovering cancer patient. The results for me came back as negative. The test is NOT covered by insurance and it is pricey at $1250 for the test.
It isn't foolproof and has a high price tag of 950 us dollars. Also gives false negatives and false positives. It's a good starting point but not all cancers are detected by blood tests. For instance I had a thyroid scan and blood work. My blood work detected nothing however the ultrasound detected 3 enlarged suspicious nodules which required a biopsy to futher detect if they were benign or not.
Where are “the tests” that determine, whether prolonged water-fasting kills cancer cells? Or, how many people have actually cured cancer, after being diagnosed, by eliminating SUGAR, refined carbs, etc from their diets. None of the “tests” by the medical researchers, in the past, were about preventative care. When’s that changing? Test “FOOD choices and CANCER developments” - teach THAT in SCHOOLS. Everything else, however important, is not solid groundwork.
unfortunately, there are new blood biomarkers for cancers every year, but chemotherapy and advancement on the cancer treatment and its outcome for the patient have not changed to cure for the better.
A new friend on the international public stage recently learned they have cancer. They are going rhrough quite a bit far from the public eye. Between continuing their work and receiving treatment, they are fatigued most days, but still smile in front of the cameras. I wish this cancer test had been in place years ago so that my friend wouldn't be going through such a tough time. I've tried to be supportive from behind the scenes. I wish I could do more. I can't. It's not my place. They asked me to keep things private and I have. I pray that cancer testing will quickly advance in its development. Even though many people now survive cancer, it is still a devastating diagnosis for those who are fighting to stay alive and for those people around them encouraging them not to be afraid or give up hope. 🥺🙏
Well I hope it works extensively when put into practice Both for me and my father (two different kinds of tumor) the blood markers were completely negative, delaying the urgency of the more direct, conclusive tests (radiography etc) by a few months, but this was caused by the tumor remaining localized, even if (in situ) it had developed noticeably in size well over the usual “risk” categories
This test isn't to diagnose you with cancer. Its a good mark to point out IF you may have cancer. Its not a perfect tool but you really want to wait for stage 3 and 4 to confirm you got Cancer? If you come out positive, let your doctor inspect with more blood work and scans even if you have nothing. It helps the program. It helps you be sure. They just don't throw you to chemo unless confirm by the further studies.
I'm hoping that this isn't another one of those wonderful discoveries that isn't heard about again because more studies show it to be not helpful enough. It would be wonderful if we could get this to work for us. 🤞

If cancer treatment were like technology, we'd still be sending telegrams. I work in IT, and it still disappoints me how much of our best minds, our most aggressive research, and the the amount of resources we put into tech-for-profit advances, but do comparatively little for health and wellness research. Admittingly, its expensive. And for the private sector, without a significant ROI, there's no incentive. So we're left hoping for nonprofit and public sector research, the later of which really doesn't exist.
This video was fascinating but could have been clearer. The beginning hook was that there may be a blood test that can find developing cancers even before tumours appear. If cancer develops from free radicals and other cells are going wrong, and the test is looking for these markers, perhaps the false positives are positives. In contrast, other tests will detect when actual tumours are found years later. If I had a positive without a tumour being found, I'll probably change my lifestyle and focus on my immune system even more. It'll be interesting to see how many of these "false" positives actually develop cancers in the sites indicated by the test.
I for one is looking forward to something like this. I've lost a 3 brothers to cancer, 21, 28, 60 years of age. My mother age 60, and my sister currently battling it.

Surgery and cryotherapy for example are faster and more precise than chemo, but can only be used for stage 1 & 2 cancer.
