- A new blood test is raising hopes of detecting many types of cancer long before symptoms appear. Cancer kills around 10 million people worldwide each year. Some types are hard to detect until the advanced stages, when treatment options are limited. A trial of a new type of blood test has shown promise in identifying mutations early.

Im experiencing positive changes with igrotum. Its a beacon of positivity in my cancer treatment.
Some people complain about $1,250 price tag or whatever it is but then go spend that on a holiday at a resort, its silly because this could save your life by knowing early if you have something harmful.
Right on! Check out Cancer Check Labs. They just presented at the Dave Asprey Biohacking Conference in Dallas. This is a game changer.
False negatives are far scarier than false positives 😬
TRUE
This is great news for BIG pharma. 👍 They get to push patients on chemotherapy whether they actually have cancer or not. Especially with false positives from some fancy Elizabeth Holmes machine.
And overdiagnosis.
There is nothing called 'false negative'. The test could not find any cancer at that moment, which does not certify that it does it exist. Nor does it guarantee that the person will never have cancer.
Both are something we have to avoid as much as possible.
Cure is needed and not just better detection method.
Knowing where the cancer is is game changing.

Don't think it is. You already have medical options to find out, that work very well.

Unfortunately, the specificity is still much too low to expect it to improve diagnosis over existing methods. The one thing they didn't cover that is most likely to be the major benefit is cost and ease of performing. This could be significant, especially in resource poor areas.
Problem is not detecting cancer, its curing it even when detected early! Current treatment for cancer sucks!
Wow this is really great news. I hope to see this soon and help save many people's lives.

Discovering it this way, knowing that it"s mutation is unbelievably hard to cure, I think we could go into a extremely good direction. Lost my mother like that. Nobody deserves this type of suffering,
Funny enough, it's not hard at all. With AI, the entire human genome has been decoded. DNA editing has been in the works and soon gene splicing will become a thing. There's hope for your love one's to be cured from any illness/disease/physical disability

The Galleri Cancer Screening test is not a new test it has been available for a year or two. I took the test 6 months ago because I am a recovering cancer patient. The results for me came back as negative. The test is NOT covered by insurance and it is pricey at $1250 for the test.
DON'T put a claim that it identifies "50 types of cancer" and then not name or list ANY OF THEM, smfh!
It isn't foolproof and has a high price tag of 950 us dollars. Also gives false negatives and false positives. It's a good starting point but not all cancers are detected by blood tests. For instance I had a thyroid scan and blood work. My blood work detected nothing however the ultrasound detected 3 enlarged suspicious nodules which required a biopsy to futher detect if they were benign or not.
I am waiting for that year when people say, "It's just a cancer."
This will be a game-changer if it has a high accuracy rate.
unfortunately, there are new blood biomarkers for cancers every year, but chemotherapy and advancement on the cancer treatment and its outcome for the patient have not changed to cure for the better.

The sensitivity and specificity can be used with Bayes formula.
Well I hope it works extensively when put into practice
Both for me and my father (two different kinds of tumor) the blood markers were completely negative, delaying the urgency of the more direct, conclusive tests (radiography etc) by a few months, but this was caused by the tumor remaining localized, even if (in situ) it had developed noticeably in size well over the usual “risk” categories
Insurance companies will love this.

When and how can we access these services? This is the question
Where are “the tests” that determine, whether prolonged water-fasting kills cancer cells? Or, how many people have actually cured cancer, after being diagnosed, by eliminating SUGAR, refined carbs, etc from their diets. None of the “tests” by the medical researchers, in the past, were about preventative care. When’s that changing? Test “FOOD choices and CANCER developments” - teach THAT in SCHOOLS. Everything else, however important, is not solid groundwork.
👏👏👏
Hope this will spread over the world as fast as this news by benefitting many needy around💐💐💐
A new friend on the international public stage recently learned they have cancer. They are going rhrough quite a bit far from the public eye. Between continuing their work and receiving treatment, they are fatigued most days, but still smile in front of the cameras. I wish this cancer test had been in place years ago so that my friend wouldn't be going through such a tough time. I've tried to be supportive from behind the scenes. I wish I could do more. I can't. It's not my place. They asked me to keep things private and I have.
I pray that cancer testing will quickly advance in its development. Even though many people now survive cancer, it is still a devastating diagnosis for those who are fighting to stay alive and for those people around them encouraging them not to be afraid or give up hope. 🥺🙏
Wow hope it would be ready for the public soon
Well, here in the U.S. they're going to charge us an arm and a leg for that test!

Elizabeth Holmes : IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME (who invented this) !
The most important is not how many it misdiagnosed as having cancer, but how many it did miss...
Considering that the treatment can kill you it sure is very important if you're misdiagnosed.
This test isn't to diagnose you with cancer. Its a good mark to point out IF you may have cancer. Its not a perfect tool but you really want to wait for stage 3 and 4 to confirm you got Cancer? If you come out positive, let your doctor inspect with more blood work and scans even if you have nothing. It helps the program. It helps you be sure. They just don't throw you to chemo unless confirm by the further studies.
I wonder what the cost of this test is? Does insurance pay for it?
I’m having my blood drawn for the testing this morning.
Will yearly tests be affordable?
I expect cost depends on the healthcare system of where you live.
@@margaretr5701 not the USA, so yes, it will be affordable. thanks!
I'm hoping that this isn't another one of those wonderful discoveries that isn't heard about again because more studies show it to be not helpful enough. It would be wonderful if we could get this to work for us. 🤞
Or because studies show it works and the cancer profiteers crush it.
sign me up for the clinical trial, please. as a breast cancer survivor, i would like to know if there are signs of other cancers growing in my body or a second breast tumor. thanks for reporting on this development. 💖

Plus it may very well dedect the cancerous cells but it doesn't mean that you developed full blown cancer or that your immune system can't handle it. Kurzgesagt just released a video explaining cancer quite well
Did you verify the trial results before reporting on this? A 33 percent false positive rate is a problem for patients and a waste of time for doctors. Also, we need to make sure this doesn't end up like another Theranos.
3:03 Better a false positive than not knowing at all.
If cancer treatment were like technology, we'd still be sending telegrams. I work in IT, and it still disappoints me how much of our best minds, our most aggressive research, and the the amount of resources we put into tech-for-profit advances, but do comparatively little for health and wellness research. Admittingly, its expensive. And for the private sector, without a significant ROI, there's no incentive. So we're left hoping for nonprofit and public sector research, the later of which really doesn't exist.
Bcoz they can make juice for a year old virus , but cannot cure a 50 year old disease like cancer and aids
I for one is looking forward to something like this. I've lost a 3 brothers to cancer, 21, 28, 60 years of age. My mother age 60, and my sister currently battling it.

This video was fascinating but could have been clearer. The beginning hook was that there may be a blood test that can find developing cancers even before tumours appear.
If cancer develops from free radicals and other cells are going wrong, and the test is looking for these markers, perhaps the false positives are positives. In contrast, other tests will detect when actual tumours are found years later.
If I had a positive without a tumour being found, I'll probably change my lifestyle and focus on my immune system even more.
It'll be interesting to see how many of these "false" positives actually develop cancers in the sites indicated by the test.
Only 50
Is it expensive?
Hope my country Mauritius will benefits from the advanced research technology in the near future.

On cocktail napkins, wunderbar; how many will still die due to late-detected cancer? Post-9 Jun '23 (who will pay the royalties? who can afford it? who will have access?).
In order to preclude "false-positive" stress, pretend by avoiding the test. Or, medical personnel could simply request "follow-up testing".
I.e. wearing a seat belt while driving should not indicate a deathly fear of a car accident... just common sense.

While able to detect a bunch of cancer types might be an advantage for this method, the false positive readings might have a negative impact to the research. Up until the result of the research can be more reliable, let's say at least false positive reading not repeat in the second testing. Other than that, this test will be disputed.

Less ways to detect cancer and more ways to do something about it please!!!!!!!
So the way this would work Canada is people working in the healthcare system interested would look into it and get access and give it to their families and then people who do much research would get it somehow. Anyone who simply wants to do the test would be avoided.
Early detection blood test is a good start but they should start finding a better and more humane treatment than chemotherapy and radiotherapy which are torturous "cure" treatment. And doctors should start advising people to have healthy diet and lifestyle. I wish there is better and kinder medicine not under the big Pharma which is only interested in profit at expense of people's health.
There are other treatments, like surgery, cryotherapy, etc. But depending on the type of the cancer and how much it has developped, some options are not available. Surgery and cryotherapy for example are faster and more precise than chemo, but can only be used for stage 1 & 2 cancer. Anyway, all those treatments are detrimental to the body because cancer cells are similar to healthy cells. There is always collateral damage due to that.
Doctors have always advised healthy diet and lifestyle, it just does not substitute to actual treatment.
Big Pharma also research for other treatments, like antibodies (useful to control tumor angiogenesis) and more selective chemoteraphy drugs. Without them, together with universities and other research institutes, you wouldn't have all modern medicine
It came out of Oxford. So did Statins and what a lie that was, that beggers the question, can you trust it___
This test will cost $47,888 in the US.
It’s probably a scam to be honest

Not possible, false positives, money-making machine.
Earlier detection just lands them into the (profitable and destructive)
cut/burn/poison treatments we cling to.
I'd rather see less horrific treatments!
If u want to live u have to get it
Buy an Iphone OR get a cancer screening test and make it better with the feedback...hum.... Its a no Brainer. We have to start somewhere. Either way its not a diagnosis, its just a pointer of you have it or not. Its up to your doctor's to do further testing to make sure.
