Okay JEEZ apparently I should have turned on CLOSED CAPTIONS for the official lyrics. Everybody shut up about it now before I have an existential crisis and forget how to speak english too.
I have no words to fully describe why I love this band and their music so much. All I can say, is that they are different and amazing. I was blown away, the first time I heard them.
I take the horseman combined with the motorbikes as a comparison of the past and the modern. One rides a horse, the others ride iron horses.
And they put a lot of the repetitive chanting in the song because the hoped it would make the song more interactive for people, who can not understand Mongolian. The audience may not be able to sing along but they can chant , hu, hu, hu, hu. And it seems to work. People seem to love to chant. Some of their other songs do this too. People enjoy being able to join in.
It's interesting, because I was a roadie/pro wrestler/camel wrangler in Mongolia for several years, and I actually rode with these guys for a while. Damn, did we pound the fermented mare's milk! (The milk was fermented, not the mares. Ha!) And it's so cool to see these guys finally getting the recognition they deserve. They taught me throat singing, and I taught them how to make origami out of Post-it notes. Cool video. And I always like watching your reaction and your head banging (and of course your world-class lyrical analysis). Оросыг байлдан дагуулцгаая!
To me, this music cuts through modern sensibilities to the primal and tribal heart of me. It is ancient and modern at the same time, evoking images of not only Mongol hordes but of Maoris, Native Americans, Zulus, Vikings, any warrior people on Earth. It's reminding us of a part of our human nature that got modernized and complacent. This music thunders, growls and rolls across the steppes, the plains, the Serengeti, the moors, everywhere. "Wolf Totem" is a reminder of our roots, no matter where we come from in the world. It's time for the Western world to take notice of our common ancestral wisdom. I love it!!!

i just watched the HU live last week and they are just as powerful and spine-tingling if not MORE so live!! will definitely be going to see them every time they tour!!
It all works together a combination of the traditional and the modern and East meets West they are absolutely awesome. They are the coolest band on the planet right now and are awesome live.
It was intended to portray the combination of traditional and modern like the horde who followed Chingis Khann from horses to Iron horses modern day that was the concept by having the largest Motorcycle Club in Mongolia in the video as Warriors representing the traditional warriors. It was originally a war chant dating back centuries. You really ought to check out their other videos they are all amazing.
They can make it sound like a horse neighing too which is really cool .

Each time I hear a young person’s take on their lack of significant history...Hum, I guess this why I’m intensely adamant towards my daughters and grand daughter about our own Indigenous Native American history. Get more rest, stay healthy and safe.

Those lyrics you read, are almost completely different from the lyric translation in the closed captioning. You definitely want to check them out.
The horse is representing the traditional...The bike is representing the now but they are still warriors
If you turn on the captions it has the lyrics in English so you can understand what they are singing.

Bro the Mongolians on the bikes symbolises the modern version of mongols so instead of riding horses into battle they ride Harleys hence that’s why the video started with a dude riding a horse following the dude on the horse - open ur third eye and see the meaning behind it all *drops mic*

Genghis Kahn is the most famous historical guy for Mongolian. He conquered almost the whole world.he know for his brutality&cruelty.how can u not heard of him.in Asia there's songs about the Mongolian coming&we better hide or be butcher.he conquered more territories than Alexander the great.more than British Empire. Don't anyone learn history anymore?this making me sad.

I dont know where did u get the lyrics translation from but I can tell its NOT the right one at all. They have official subtitles if u turn the CC on, and thats the exact “word to word” translation of what they are singing. Other than that a Superb reaction video.
