Did you have a bad day? Yet, if you're healthy. That's most important. Enjoy a glass of wine or maybe single malt scotch. And enjoy this beautiful music. A good book might also help. Tomorrow will be better.
Unfortunately alcohol has stolen my health, as it does to so, so many.
@@mohamadkebbewar6827do you support Hamas? And are you a terrorist?
the piano and the oboe is a blessing i never knew existed. I just love this.
Once again, you introduce me to music I am not familiar with. Simply beautiful & inspirational. I have always loved the combination of Oboe & Piano. Perfect for a quiet evening at home on your own.

This has a healing effect, and a panacea to purify the soul, and is comfortable in an ear
Well good evening BC! I typed Saint Saens and little did I know that I would find these precious soothing transcriptions! Congratulations to Bart Schneemann and Paolo Giacometti. I’ll probably be back for more. 😘
I have to go back to Paris, what a beauty.
So lovely melodies. The music is so great. I have never enough of classical music. Never boring. Thank you for the beautiful music.
The piano-oboe combo is something absolutely divine that I didn't know before. Thank you for the album.
1(Le lever de la lune), 4(La mort d'Orphélie), 5(Aimons-nous), 8(Chanson triste), 11(Extase), 14(La sérénité), 18(Ad libitum) are my personal favorites.

Velice děkuji za tu krásu přeji vám hezký den vaše Věra
A winner once again BC. Had never heard any of these before and the soloists were wonderful. I really delight in Saint-Saens' music. Bart Schneemann's transcription idea was inspired. I'd guess they could be tenor voice songs, but they would be very demanding. I think Sol G. could also play these on the 'cello, with Cho SJ accompanying. Thank you very much for this recording. The cheeky little sonata was gorgeous.
I have often listened to songs and captivated by the music wished if only they would remove the lyrics as pretty as they may have been I glad Bart Schneemann did it with Saint-Saëns’ melodies (songs). This is so beautiful perfect on this cold crisp sunny morning where I am. Thank you so much Brilliant Classics.
All day ❤
Incredible culture.
Very fine playing and a truly lovely recording. A wonderful collection of little pieces.
Lovely... just lovely
Thank you for posting this. Such beautiful music.

браво.
Musica molto rilassante e che porta allegrezza e serenità.
Brilliant Classics is bringing tons of unknown music to the surface.I sometimes wonder how much is still unheard.I guess more than 99%.
Unfortunately we don't have that much time to listen.

Really nice 😊
I remember finding this on CD shortly after it was released, in 1998, and it was a pleasant surprise. 11:54 (Aimons-nous) seemed a highlight, but I actually like the opener best now. Apart from many songs, Saint Saens wrote a lot of choral music. I'm not such a fan of either chanson/leider or choral works, but if each was transcribed to non-vocal instruments, there would be a lot more instrumental music of Saint Saens to enjoy. Somewhere I have a list of dates when each of these songs was first published. The first (rising of the moon) was 1853 and Aimons-nous was 1890. I can't remember others right now but I'm pretty sure the selection on this record are virtually all between those two dates (many are from the 1850s/60s; a few from the early 1870s; not sure if any were from the 1880s in this selection). Saint Saens was still writing songs in 1920/1.
Back in the 90s in NYC, I could spend an entire Saturday or Sunday in the Tower Records near Lincoln Center or Virgin Megastore listening to Classical and other genres of music. I have a faint memory of maybe hearing something like that Aimons-nous you mentioned. Nice memories rushing back.
Very nice
No conocía a este compositor. Me encanta. Gracias ❤
Thanks for these lovely transcriptions. Have you ever thought about transposing them for other instruments? I'd love to play these on soprano or alto saxophone.

I don't get your story. To whom was your letter addressed? What was the connection with Saint-Saens?
Anyone know what the painting is? Or is it something original for the cover of the album?
It is "Avenue de l'Opera, Rain Effect", 1898 by Camille Pissarro.
what's the painting?
Is this an oboe d'amore?

Saint-Saens definitely was one of the greats, though he composed for a living, meaning too much. But so did others
I wonder if Chabrier isn't better. After all, Aldo Ciccolini recorded him... i'm already tired after 2mn here.

I'm getting REALLY bad sound on this, very overmodulated-sounding.

Such beautiful melodies when piano and oboe are united together.
Totally agree
