- Cardiff Blues lock Jarrad Hoeata gets shown a red card after his high tackle on Leinster full back Rob Kearney during the Guinness Pro12 match in January 2015 at Cardiff Arms Park.
He knew knew it was wrong as soon as it happened. Not his first high tackle, there's one against Aaron Cruden as well. Too bad, I don't think he is a bad bloke. Good on Kearney for taking it like a man. Thank you for posting this.
No malice involved. Just got the timing wrong. Truly hilarious. Reminds me of Neville Chamberlain's opinion of Hitler.
Swinging arm high, red card, no debate.
glad there was a safety protocol to examine your head after such a knock but my main question is if the IRB takes into consideration match suspensions after this kind of hit? substitution rules certainly don't allow for monkey play.
Although I would defend Hoeata at all on this one, the intent/malice factor has zero bearing on the card. Refs are not mind readers and no player would ever admit he wished to go in to hurt an opponent. It is the illegal action and the outcome of his action that determine the laws and the card colour.
100% correct on players never admitting to malice/intent. Just look at Umaga and Mealamu on O'Driscoll with the Lions. You've then got the likes of Owen Farrell putting school boys in hospital and all they do is say they mistimed it
Very dangerous tackle but no malice, Stuart Barnes is one of the most biased commentators out there
Amazing the crowd is booing the red card. It's obvious he did it intentionally
And when he gets to the touchline his team mates and coach will pat him on the back as a sort of "victim"
lol one of the most obvious red cards ever
That was a proper coward's 'challenge.' He closed lined him on purpose. No tackle attempted. Easiest red card decision ever.
It's not the fact of the initial high tackle that was so bad it was that he followed through by pulling him to the ground.
These commenters are absolutely crazy. If they were on a jury they would have acquitted Al Capone.
They've always been shite. Barnes is a joke and is always a dangerous play apologist.
high shot , no doubt red simple. why oh why does it take so many so long to make a decision ???apply the rule. high head off red. simple rule. no fannying around stop making it into a drama. apply the rule. send off red card. end of.get on with it. and stop pretending making excuses and denying..
fair play that he did get over him to then stop any further injury
He also turned him on his side in case he was knocked out and needed his airway to be stabilised. Could’ve caused more damage if he’d had a neck injury from the twist, but still have to respect that at least.
Very deserved red card though, absolutely stupid tackle, and dangerous too. I’m not sure if there was intent or malice, but the law is the law.
The commentators are part of the systemic problem. Has it improved yet.
It has slightly in that Stuart Barnes seems to be working less :)
Commentator miss timed tackle......he measured him up for it!
Hoeata can't tackle. A lock on a fullback should be a physical mismatch but he wouldn't put his body on the line and make a legal tackle.
Its absolutely ridiculous how the commentators try and talk it down. They need to think about the safety of the players.
Even though it was a awful tackle, at least the man checked on the tackled player the second he hits the ground. You can tell he cared.
It matters little whether he intended it or was remorseful afterwards. Only in that if reviewed later for extra punishment.
if owen Farrell made the tackle nothing would have happened
If your aunt had balls she would be your uncle
By today’s standards he’d be locked up in jail 😂
Even the ref thought it was only a yellow and he was next to it.
At least this time it was a foul, he usually cries to the ref over legal tackles.
And the commentator..lol..no malice ..got the timing wrong..wtf..are you blind or drunk..lol..
A red
He's known to be a dirty player...
Rugby’s gone soft
They all make these mistakes. Check out Rob's tackle on Stuart Hogg. Im a true blue Leinster fan btwua-cam.com/video/CfvRabqeYJU/v-deo.html
legalized thugs and my biggest passion so dont try and make a case for him.
Yellow card maximum for me
So red in your case must be a beheading then..🤣🤣🤣
well good thing you weren't reffing the game then
First offense of the game? Shouldn't be more than 5 minutes in the sin bin or a yellow, NOT an immediate red. Even in NFL football, you'd never see an ejection for this. And the ball carrier stayed down to play it up because nonsense like yellow and red cards have been introduced to Rugby, where they DON'T belong, and so you're gonna get the same kind of acting u see in soccer/football.
Hubert Cumberdale You’re entitled to your opinion and I’m entitled to be right.
@@timmycrw91 he got fucking clotheslined, with his neck cranked up to the side as it twisted. He had to go off to get a head assessment (youd probably call it concussion protocol), so the ref could tell it was high impact. The ref actually watches the replay a few times from different angles before making that decision, I’m not sure what it is you saw differently🤷🏻♂️
@@Danlows1 It was more from the side than from the front; that's what I see. Yellow, IMHO. Not exactly a textbook tackle, LOL, and I know what it's like to be tackled like that too! LOL
@@timmycrw91 mate, it’s a swinging arm, high tackle, no attempt to wrap the arms, grabs him round the chin, drags him down whilst twisting.
There’s no mitigating circumstances like if the ball carrier ducks as the tackle comes in, the tackler had plenty of time to hold off or commit to a legal tackle. According to the laws of the game as they stand its red all day
@@Danlows1 Guess I was playing devils advocate that the forearm never went for the throat area of the ball carrier but was on the side of the neck. Then the commentator wasn't so sure if it would be more than a yellow. I was kinda surprised that the tackler didn't really stick the ball carrier shoulder to shoulder, though. Looked like a great way to jar that ball loose.
I thought this was a mans game? Not a red.
+DN21Media It is a man's game - and that's a red (for the reasons given by the ref).
+Ian M if it's a mans game it wouldn't be a red.
+DN21Media Err , no. Or, maybe he could have brought out a knuckle-duster and smacked him with it - because, if it's a mans game...!
+DN21Media Troll
DN21Media nNot red? Red games do you? 🤣🤣🤣
