You are honestly the only you tube instructor I’ve found that your videos translate to the range and course. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Appreciate you being here with us :)
Thank you for the tip. Easy to see and understand. Will try it soon on the range
Our pleasure--hope it serves you well!
This is EXCELLENT advice, new golfers, please pay attention to this. It took me years to learn this, and when I did it made a huge difference
100%!! Thank you!
This is something I've been working on for some time. Slower swings is all good. The moment I try a full shot, I struggle. Thanks for the drills!
Hope you get it Logan!
This is the best video by far to explain path. Tks Eric, much appreciated :-)
Thanks! Hope it helps my friend!
That video was as good as it can possibly get.
Hands-down the best instructor on UA-cam
Thank you!!
This type of explanation makes it really easy for me to keep remembering how to keep your arms straight, tnx!
You got it! Thanks!
This is a really good instruction, can't be better explained, thx so much
Appreciate it!!
Excellent drill Eric. Thanks a million.
Appreciate it!
This is gold, I need to get back into this drill
Hope this helps Geoff!
Another fantastic lesson. Thank you!!!
👊Thanks!
Great drill. Thank you Easy E!
Thanks John!
Awesome video! Thank you
Appreciate it Mike!
So easy to understand keeps it simple 👍
Thanks Robert!
Great content and well explained 👍👍
Thank you!!
Hi Eric , another one very good video lesson. Thanks. Golf is growing crazy since covid. Funny.
Thanks Oscar!!
Man, your videos are really good! I saw you did a video with Malaska and it seems you really like his style too. I’m with you.
Thanks Rick!!
特别有帮助的一期,明天就去练习场试一下!谢谢
Hope it helps!
The pros like you are so powerful in the lower body that this flex and then extension is difficult to appreciate. It happens so quickly.
Agreed!
These are great drills and enjoy the training videos... what irons do you have in the bag?
Thanks Marty! I have Takomo!
Nice. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Worked on this today. It’s really helping me get my hands in and low.
Love to hear that Larry!
Eric this is working great. But I seem to hook the driver doing it. Much better contact though. 👍🏽👍🏽
Eric, this is a wonderful video and an excellent drill. Do you have a video (I'm sure you do) that instructs the golfer where their hands should be at the top of the swing (vertical, not depth), in relation to their trail shoulder? For example, at the top of my swing, my hands should be approximately at shoulder height, 1 inch above my shoulder, 2 inches above my shouldter, etc.? Or, is it one of those things that golfers need to experiment with at the range?
Recently, one of my playing partners commented that my hands were even with my shoulder which resulted in a "flatter" golf swing. He suggested that I try and get my hands a little higher at the top of my backswing with the result being a more vertical swing. I decided to give it a try because of the video you posted a few weeks ago with Trevor Salzman (Number One Reason Players Early Extend In The Golf Swing). My thought was that if I can get my hands a higher, it would help me to increase my shoulder tilt... which is exactly what happened. This resulted in me hitting higher golf shots, and even par for the first time! Thank you for the excellent videos.
Hey Nicholas!
Great question.....wont be the same for everyone. Depends on several factors (how much rotation, how much tilt, height, arm length, etc etc)
In general I like to see the butt of the club relatively close to the ankle from down the line and butt of club slightly above head from face on.
Send swings in to www.cogornogolf.com so we can see your moves and give YOU specifics for where you need to be to work best for you.
You look at Nicklaus to Hogan to Tiger, etc will see all different spots.....key to match that with downswing moves
Work great thank you had four birdies today add a double bogey 3 over not bad for an 80 year old
Love that don!!
thanks for this!
You got it Robert! Hope it helps!
Playing with your buddy JT this weekend at the Wakefield Plantation Member Guest! Small world!
Great stuff as always, which arm is dominating the swing. I’m rt handed w a baseball grip
Thanks Randy! Wont be the same for everyone....not a black/white answer unfortunately
Eric, Are you coming to the UK at anytime? Love to see you at a demo day q&a?
Hey Ken! Thank you---no plans as of now but if we do we'll be sure to announce! Appreciate your support!
Very good video. Do you keep your trail (right) elbow close to your body on the downswing? Thanks
Thanks David! Yes it has to get back DOWN and IN FRONT.....some good ones we did on that topic here:

Great lesson Eric. I find this is the most common error Amateur golf suffer.
Thank Javier!
Great swing thought. I think if the strike gets to heel side more body rotation is needed?
I would say thats fair GENERALLY speaking
Great advice. Video yourself from the side (face on) to see how far your head and body slide forward. I would just make sure you get to your lead side before you kick your head back or you will dump the club into the turf.
For sure!!
I going to work on this the last couple of weeks my miss with the driver is a pull left and a fade with my irons. Eric I do have 2 questions maybe you can address in a future video. When hitting my 56 or 60 out of the fair way I'm having difficulty with distances. The contact feels solid by they go really high even for a wedge the same shot feels solid but one will go 100 yards the next will go 70. Then my second is could you do a practice video of a range session of how to practice with propose. My golf games is getting pretty good with alot of help from your video and would like to start competing. I'd just like to know how I should practice. alot of the time I feel like I'm just beating balls down range. Thanks for all you eric I watch all your videos
Thanks Keith---hope this helps!
1. On wedges---unfortunately impossible for me to say without seeing your swing....could be too many different things. Send videos in to www.cogornogolf.com so we can see vids, diagnose and fix.
2. For sure---we have a TON on practice at www.cogornogolf.com or heres a practice program we put together you could snag as well: ericcogornogolf.podia.com
Appreciate ya!
Dis this drill with Tour Striker smart ball, Amazing results.
Love that!
Eric, it’s seems to me that straight arms after impact is tied in with being able to release the wrists correctly. I notice all the top players in your video have a forearm X shape after impact. Most amateurs don’t do this, they think that is excessive and wristy.
The pros are obviously excessively wristy, if you could clarify this it would be beneficial. I’ve been experimenting with stalling the left hand coming into impact allowing the right hand to overtake and thus achieving the forearm X post impact. It feels very weird and wristy but the videos don’t lie. If I continue to turn through impact it looks fairly normal so I’m guessing I’m on the right track.
What’s your take on The forearm X post impact and proper right hand release, thanks for the video
For sure! Will do more videos on this in the future !
It's the pizza slice as mentioned in an earlier video of Eric's👍🏻
:) Thanks for watching, Ken!
I need to practice this until I'm exhausted. I've been chicken winging it all year. Thanks.
Hope it helps!
I've tried this great results however my finish is both arms pointing out, I can seem to get the left arm to hindge
What is a good right to left flight? Mine is a 15-20 yard draw/pull.
Hey Sam! Whatever you want really.....best players will hit small curves say 1-5 yards with irons. Some more, some less. But as you work down to lower scores I'd much rather hit a BIG DRAW (10-15 yards) each time but have it happen every time rather than missing both ones. One curve
After just three minutes I see this extension of the arms working with my recent insight to flex my knees a little more so I can get my weight behind the strike of the ball. In baseball the pitcher doesn’t want the power hitter to be able to extend his arms. Because that’s where his power is. I’m 5’8” about Ben Hogans size. If I bend at the knees I feel shorter. As a kid I wanted to grow taller. We don’t shrink a little till we’re very elderly. The only way to hit like Mickey Mantle is to be very flexed in the knees.
Agreed Frank---big part of it!
Well that makes sense now
:)
doesnt clearing of left hip promote this as well? without it, its straight push?
Great video... But here's the thing I've finally gotten to the the point of hitting draws high and far, but it's completely uncontrollable sometimes it goes 190 sometimes it goes 175. Now it's all I hit so my question is what now. I can now hit the draw and nothing else with no control. My game is worse than before
Thanks Nigel! Send us your swings at CogornoGolf.com so we can work together and build you a personalized practice plan👊
Would love to see ya there!
Can it apply to driver swing?
Yes, all clubs👍
Same feel for all clubs. Hybrids, woods?
Hey Brian! Yes
So let me see if I get this: if I pull my arms closer to me the club gets closer to me? hmm
Obviously, there is something that you're not getting or you wouldn't be here. Stick around, have a look, I'm sure Eric has posted something before that could help you. I mean, surely, out of the thousands and thousands, there has to be something! Here's the clincher, they're ALL free! Enjoy.
:)
すごい( >﹏< *)
No one hits anything “good.“ Some hit some things well.
:)
Thanks grammar police.
So sad you haven’t got anything better to do……
Language is about communication.
If the listener or reader thinks good and well express the same thing mission accomplished.
Pompous pukes like are no fun on a golf course.
@@justinslager5948 what's really cool is they aren't even correct! They have a very incorrect understanding of language and linguistics. If you understood what the speaker meant, then they did it 'correctly'!!
So grammar police are actually outing themselves as arrogant little uneducated fiends. 🎉
You're only 32 how have you been teaching this for 20 years?
Haha hey Matt! I'm 35 going to 36 this year....I actually started giving lessons when I was 18 :)
I don’t care how old you are or for how long you have been giving lessons. Your lessons are the best on UA-cam.
@@MB-rh3ym Thats why I drove nine hours for a lesson. He looks even younger in person. lol
@@mattbecham597..he’s really only 22, he started giving lessons at 7 yrs old
Meh 😅
*well, not good
:)
Matt is such a wussy
I've tried this great results however my finish is both arms pointing out, I can seem to get the left arm to hindge
Good to hear, Thomas!
I'd say most players need LESS lead arm flex through the ball and into the follow through, so you may not need to consciously try to add more in. Film yourself and check video after each swing.
Ideally, the lead arm would stay relatively straight until arms parallel to ground in follow through. From there, having it fold to roughly 90° in the finish position is a nice checkpoint to shoot for.
If you don't get it sorted or have more questions, send us your swings at CogornoGolf.com so we can do a full analysis and create a custom
practice plan for you👊
