    Buddy out here criticizing the text placement? Japanese is read top to bottom from right to left. It’s placement is exactly where it should be for the intended audience. Just like in a symbolic sense moving right to left suggests progression in Japan. Learning a bit of Japanese culture and customs can take you a long way in understanding the media. 🤓

    The text showing on the top right isn't unusual or wrong. Japanese texts with vertical text are read from top to bottom, then right to left. Being at the top right side of the "page" is the natural place vertical text would start.

    For the fight scenes not having any impact, I think a part of that is how the story portrays "fighting" in general, its more subdued because its not necessarily as important for the plot to give emphasis. And tbh with you, even in the manga its mostly just pew pew lasers til we get to Stark and later fights in the manga.
    I could see an argument that this could have been elavated by the production itself, and I do hope they do improve on this, especially since we have an upcoming episodes where the battles are center-stage and important to the narrative for a bit.

    As far as tight writing is concerned, the manga itself is a league of its own compared to other titles on the market right now. The payoffs in recent chapters are foreshadowed/set up since the beginning.

    Frieren is not that inspired by Mushoku Tensei, they are very different. I think the best way to compare Frieren to something is "What if Lord of the Ring had an epilogue?". I don't really agree with the fight scenes not really having an impact, don't really know if all fight scenes can look like Kimetsu.
    Also, I would have been pissed off if they added a narrator, talk about taking you out of the immersion.

      I didn’t say Frieren the story was, I said the production. The way it looks and feels, is animated, etc. It very much is in that department.
      Fight scenes is a lack of impact in general. They either don’t show or it doesn’t look very “heavy” and “weighty” when they do so it’s just kind of w/e.
      Narrators are awful and they don’t need one. Then only scene that benefits from one is the intro in the first ep. That was mostly a complaint about the text being in the top right and easily missable despite containing pertinent info. It should be narrated or, more optimally, just put in the center.

      @@To-To i mean in terms of the way it's directed. Frieren is very different in my way, it uses less exposition and focus more on behavior and movements of the characters. Both are stunning shows, but the style even is very different

      @@IWriteTooMuchForBleachIGuess Think it was a combination of a mid thumbnail and an intro that most of my audience didn't vibe with. I went into more detail on my Discord, but that was the vibe I got from it and what the data was pointing towards.
      That + everyone and their mother making a video, too, that mine would then have to compete with. The original idea was to be the very first person to get it out, but I couldn't edit it fast enough. Ah well. Here's hoping Jobless does better Sunday.

      @@To-ToThe question you should be asking is why. Why do they need to move during that fight?
      Plus, saying that MH or Frieren takes inspiration from MT is quite a reach.

    • @jaymoto2459
      @jaymoto2459 10 місяців тому

      @@To-Toas stated above why would they move? Mages provide distance support. They don’t move around a lot because their attacks are ranged (generally). Remember episode one where Eisen charges the beast and Frieren hits it with a distance attack. The entire point is different party members have different roles, and without a frontliner the combat will be subdued. That’s the entire point of trying to get Stark to join the party. Regardless Frieren isn’t a shonen it’s much more story driven than action driven. That being said, I think we will get some decent fights in the future. If you know, you know.

      @@sleepylion9788 Moving in response to this comment was in regard to anime vs manga. Anime moves, speaks, sounds etc. I wasn’t talking about fight scenes.
      Also, no. They have similarities, especially in their production as I detailed. As a narrative, though, no. They’re completely different.
