      Thanks so much. I am running a brushless 25.5 in the buggy. We have a fairly small yard and I think anything larger could use a 17.5+

    What I like about Kyosho's Legendary series is how everything is so easy to get to and to remove, removing the gearbox on this is butter and doing any type of service when out and about is realistic with just a couple tools in your pocket. I love this era of Kyosho. Pure quality, and they even sound better imo lol. Sweet upload dude!

    Nice work, and a bit surprising that it was quicker than the Ultima. You are right about weight, but weight is a funny thing in RC cars. With LiPo batteries it's actually possible to have a car that is too light per it's era. That is, some cars have suspension that was designed to hold more weight cause when they were made the available batteries and electronics were heavier.
    Fun vid as always btw.

    • @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC

      Weight and tire compounds were absolutely a plus with this car.
      Ultima will crush it with a few small tweaks imo. This buggy is so much fun to drive! I really love it.

    Lovely build! Did your front wheels have a lot of toe in when you first built it? Mine looks like it has a fair bit and I'm not sure if it's meant to be like that or not. I followed the diagrams to a T and double checked everything was lined up nicely. Waiting for the electronics to arrive so I can test drive it.

      You need to mess around with the axle angle and link length. When it falls into place it's much less of a compromise with what's considered tolerable amounts of bumpsteer.

  • @Freddie44utube
    @Freddie44utube Рік тому +1

    You’ve got too much caster set into the front suspension that’s why you have too much camber change and bump steer. It’s a great video and love the colours

    DUDE! MORE RACES MAN! My Daughter waits to see your daughter and wants to see her run her buggies? My daughter has a Monster beetle for crawling, a Wild Wendy for wheelies, a Frog and a Neo Fighter(new frog) for 2wd buggies, and a Terra Scorcher for 4wd fun. A Karmenghia for on-road fun. She told me the other day that the only car she ever really wanted was a Sand Scorcher? I found a NIB and it will be here for her Xmas. All vehicles except for the Black Monster beetle are pink in nature. Oh and a funny thing, she only like stick radios?

      @@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC the wheel radio no matter what size grip I got for her it didn't matter I would find her holding the radio and a strange position almost with the thumb going through the trigger and the wheel concept for some reason removed the finesse the gentleness, the tactical feel that she liked when we would go boating I'm from the old school, and you know my first remote controls were those from the Mattel company 1978 I had the lone eagle drive command tractor trailer semi RC truck and it had the 9 volt battery box with a single on/off button and a steering wheel and it was rather terrible but at that time I was only 7 years old and that was incredible. They also had a Porsche and various other vehicles like the Ferrari 512 and the Lancia stratos but my favorite will always be that tractor trailer because it had the Kenworth cab over look and it was more of a 10-wheeler than a 18 wheeler.
      And then that's when it happened a few years later and I'm holding in my hand the boxiest of box radios with two extremely uncomfortable completely misplaced throttle and steering quadrant and the best driving sensation because of those two sticks on the Audi Quattro from radio shack. It came with a 380 size motor and you would have to run it on six Duracell batteries the voltage was there but can you imagine running a 380 and a car that was completely made of plastic with nothing in the way of weight reduction and even had a servo in the front for fully proportional steering all powered from the six 1.5 volt blister pack ever ready batteries that last maybe 10 minutes and you'd have to load another set of batteries in. Needless to say it wasn't run that much I used to open the trunk area and hide the progress reports that I would get sent home from school in the trunk area usually forgetting about them and then getting an even more trouble. But that was when I became completely addicted to and completely centered and focused on Stick radios I've tried in the past to have wheel radios I had a Futaba Magnum Jr with a few features not the pro version but I still didn't like it I've never expressed my dislike for the real radios as a matter of fact I've tried various sizes and colors to see if she would take to use in the wheel radio and maybe that the wheel would make more sense but when I saw her awkwardness and using it I switched her quickly to a stick and voila I didn't even have to explain that when the vehicle is coming back towards you head on that the controls will be backwards she just did it. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that she's right-handed except when she rides on skateboards scooters and even power scooters she's goofy foot LOL. You mentioned that the weather is getting tough. You stated that it's getting brisk and cold you know they have this really cool set of gloves with a clear box portion in the center that you place your radio control and stick your hands through the gloves on either side. LMAO 🤣.
      Hopefully you'll get one of those fluke warm spring like days that bring fall to an end and signal the true beginning of winter maybe the last Indian summer and you'll get a few races in for us. Car you've got on the top of the leaderboard off 😆 LOL.

    Great video.. Did the track conditions help the scorpion beat the ultima? The ultima run looked pretty dry and dusty whereas this run looks like the track was a bit firmer with much more grip. After some quality cars going around the track the big surprise on that leader board is still the hotshot

    • @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC
      @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC  Рік тому +1

      The front tires on the Ultima are like pvc plastic compared to the Scorp tires. Agree the track was more tacky the day the Scorp ran so there would have been a difference for sure. Just think the rears would bite in even more on the Ultima on a tacky track tbh. So maybe a closer gap but I don't feel it would have been faster. One thing I cant really control unless I go full Astro. Wish I had time to run everything on the same day...lol.

    nooooo, not brushless! why??

    • @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC
      @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC  10 місяців тому

      100 reasons why.
      But most importantly is consistency.
      Brushed motors are different every time you run. Brush and com.wear are different every time you fire one up.
      Try to do my best to maintain consistency on the electronic side of things since there is a leader board.
      Hopefully you enjoyed the video otherwise.

    The 2.2 wheel/ soft tire combination helped the Turbo beat the Ultima , I agree. BITD racers in my area said trailing arm suspensions worked well on rough surfaces hence the minor popularity of trailing arm conversion kits for rc10s and Ultimas. I even tried a trailing arm Optima just to see what it was like.

    Another great vid and I really like the colour-scheme.
    One factor that plays a role here is weight distribution. The Turbo Scorpion has the battery longitudinal. I have a Tomahawk and after I mounted a shorty longitudinal and increased the wheelbase to Turbo Scorpion-spec there was a totally different car. Almost no understeer.

    • @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC
      @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC  Рік тому +1

      Totally agree. The combo. of the hard tires and super light front of the Ultima is what makes it "slow" on our track. Fairly easy fix...unfortunately "mod runs" will need to wait until next season at this point. Appreciate it brother.
