- We get out restored team Associated RC-10 graphite out for a few laps on the VBRC circuit! Can this factory upgraded buggy beat team Losi on the board?
Cable cam footage and blooper reel at the end!
Another great video my friend. Really enjoyed this one. Damn, I need my own little track.
Thanks so much brother! I really appreciate the support.
This was a fun day for sure!
Loving the mix of race cars and ‘hobby’ cars. Back in the ‘80s most of us started with a Hornet or Frog, and either progressed to (or just lusted after) the Optima’s and Ultima’s, and then the RC10’s, Losi’s and Schumachers. Keep up the great work!😊
Thanks! It gets interesting when say we shoot a Frog and an RC10 on the same day...lol. It's like going from a Yugo to a Porsche...haha.
Excellent comparison of classic racers! Great video, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks as well.
Awesome run! What a great looking and handling vintage racing buggy. Love the cable cam footage too.👍😊
Thanks my friend. We can't always get it to work...but its a very satisfying shot when we do. Appreciate it!
Really love that cable cam setup!
Thanks so much. The stars need to align for us to get to use it...but when it's actually working...the shots are fun!
Great run and wonderful buggy! I love the Wynn's paint job on it and it looks fantastic getting around the track! It seemed to drive really smooth in the corners and took them jumps nicely. I went to run mine today but the MIP ball diff was not tight enough and was slipping. I have to get it tightened up some and have another go. It was nice to see yours ripping around so i at least I got to see one good on the track today LOL!! Thanks for all the hard work and for sharing it with us, I enjoyed it!
Thanks my friend. Always appreciate the support. This buggy is fantastic.i was in no fear of it breaking while driving it and it didn't do anything that I had to stay on top of.The inline knuckles really gave the car superhero turn in on the deck carpet. I know it should probably be a shelf queen...but what fun is that...haha. That livery is one of my favorites on 1:1 race cars and I was stoked to get it on a buggy. Looking fwd to seeing how yours runs. Rock on brother.
Oh, how lovely was that first slomo shot? That was slowed more than the usual 8 times, I think, very smooth!
Great backstory, lots of knowledge in there, very interesting. And of course with the lap times to back those facts.
Keep these coming, it's great fun to be educated when it is presented like this, great video, guys!
Thank you so very much! Yea...I tried slowing one waaaay down. It's definitely a razors edge between making it unusable and looking like a nice effect...lol. I think we have a nice planned out format at this point for our videos...so that should (hopefully) speed up production. I appreciate you noticing. Glad you enjoyed it and yanks again.
Being lucky enough to have the Graphite Team Car - can say the Stealth box, and the grey shock package really brings the car up to another level for ease of driving. 2.2 JC Racing wheels, and RPM arms, really help the cars stability and handling. Thats a dam fine track you have there as well!
Thanks so much! I have a composite craft chassis that I wouldn't mind drilling for a stealth. Might need to make that happen. The Jrx shocks are no slouch either...so some of it may be there as well.
Love the opening shot of it on the jump 🤩
Thanks bud. Becoming our "theme" intro...lol. Appreciate it.
This is the car that got me into this Hobby. Back in middle school in 90' , a buddy of mine which is still a good friend his father had the graphite rc10. From what I remember it was a stealth trans car. It was much better than his OG CE at the time. I ended up getting the late model C stamp CE and that graphite chassis car was that much better. This brings back a lot of memories. I raced at Hobby Warehouse Sacramento CA and Hobby Haven in Livermore CA. Great times. I still have majority of my OG stuff 10T team truck, B3 team car , tub GT , FT GT , and a small collection of nib kits and a plethora of nip parts
Awesome "back in the day" story.
I always appreciate the memories from days gone by.
Man, I love the way you edit your videos! It's got that vintage feel that other people try hard to achieve, but never accomplish... what a perfect compliment to the cars :D Your videos take me back
Thank you so very much! I love editing and trying to find new and creative ways to keep the content fresh. It's unfortunately not a quick process..so it has held back the quantity of videos we can put out.
Really appreciate the kind words and glad you enjoyed it.
@@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC I think your effort shows! Plus, despite what youtube says, vintage RC content doesnt need daily videos. One or two a month is more than necessary. I remember a time when all we had was monthly updates from magazines, and even the most prolific shows that werent soap operas were on a weekly schedule. I think thats what i like best... wait for your videos, and get something well thought out and pleasant to watch haha it's more timeless. Anyway, love the work, hope you enjoy it and stick around for a long time :D
That sigh at the very end was perfect.
Ha...was a looooong day. Thanks bud.
Great info and run! The car looks great
Thanks so much!
Amazing work as always brother 🙌🏻 Cable cam is on another level this season dude. Huge high fives on the camera work by all involved 🙌🏻 The RC10 was a monster out there and I was surprised it didn’t make it up to the top. It seemed to take the jumps so smoothly and you look really consistent out there. Can’t wait to see what you have next dude 👍🏻
Thanks my friend. Will be the last of the c.c. this year so I am glad it got so much footage while operational. Plan is to make a new one this winter (it broke up on impact during this shoot...lol). Having it roll back in time with the rc10 pace was TOTAL luck! I would bet this combo with a stealth trans would crush the list...but who knows? The Jrx was and still is an amazing car! Until next year... Appreciate the support brother.
That looked so planted and smooth. Awesome 😎
So very smooth! I filed the gears smooth as per Jamming Jay's dad stated in a pretty famous rc10 video. Makes a world of difference!
I love the bloopers! 😂
Haha...it happens.
That was awesome, it looked great round the track!! Loving the videography and production as always! The intro was superb 👍👍
Thanks my friend. We just switched video editing programs...been a struggle for sure but like some of the new effects. Really appreciate it!
Great video mate 👍 looking forward to seeing more 👌
Should have a few more out this year! Thanks so much really appreciate it.
This was a great time in RC. The competition between Losi and TA really improved the kits and the hobby. I still have my JRx2. I had a Hornet prior and what a difference in handling.
87 to 94 is probably my favorite time for RC. So many innovations and advancements at a super rapid pace!
Well done comparison between these old relics. Awesome track video . The SC10 is still definitely a runner. It jumps and corners so well. May not quite beat the Losi, but, wins at making smiles for the driver! Awesome track too! Take care and best wishes!
Love those out takes,😝👍🏻🤗
Thanks so much! I think with a few setup tweaks it would be right there for sure. Can't believe how tight the leaderboard is getting!
Great run. She drove and looked amazing on your track. Seemed effortless and controlled. Still an extremely better looking car over the losi imo, in my top 5. What a pleasure 👍
Really liked how easy this was to drive. Didn't feel I had to push it for a good lap.
Appreciate the support my friend.
Very nice run with the RC10😀
Thanks brother. I appreciate it.
Was a fun buggy to drive for sure.
I remember my mate getting one of these bitd, i was still running my 2nd hand cougar. It just looked so different 👌
Yea it's definitely a different buggy compared to my cougar. That car is no slouch though. We ended up getting ours on the track last week btw. So look fwd to a Cougar video before years end. Appreciate the support my friend.
@@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC fingers crossed the cougar does good 😁
Awesome car, awesome track, awesome channel :)
Thanks my friend! Appreciate it.
Back in the day I built an rc10 with an MIP transmission and a JRx2 front end with a 30 degree kick up rather than the losi 20 degree. It was fantastically fast and won me many races across the SF bay area. About a year later they built the car for Masami with the longer front arms.
@jongreenhalgh Dang...you were ahead of the game! That MIP trans was an amazing bit.
@@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC I’ve still got the trans on my gold pan ;)
Thanks for sharing! Yeah... that 6 gear is just a mess!! I don't know what they were smoking when they designed that thing...lol It's "interesting" but it doesn't work well. I feel like they were too proud of it to let go of it, for far too long! lol. The stealth works LIGHT YEARS better, is way easier to maintain and assemble, and is twice as strong.
Awesome video😁👍
Thanks so much!
Had one of these, with all the fruit. Brilliant car. Shouldn’t have sold it.
@@cabbage4372 It is for sure!
I used to have an RC10 Graphite. I sold it when I left for college. Wish I didn’t now but that’s life 🤷♂️
I think team associated is rereleasing the rc10 graphite soon.
@ Ive heard that might be happening. If it does, I will have one
would be awsome to see a tamiya top force on that track whit the one way diff :D
Would love to have one for sure. Maybe someday!
My buddy Brice over at Jack O Trades is creating a 1/5 scale version of a gold pan.
Yes! I am following that build as well. Amazing stuff!
I need to go find the Losi videos.
We have love for all here...lol. Losi cars are still tops at this point!
@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC awesome! I found the JrX2 vs. Pro vid. Great stuff as always.
What are the rough dimensions of your track? Thanks!
I need to write this down because I keep forgetting the actual dimensions. Roughly (including the deck) 35/20
Great video, have you ever weighed the Losi and Associated cars? The Losi's might be lighter but i could be wrong.
I am pretty sure the Losi is lighter. Will try and get them on a scale. Appreciate it and thanks so much.
What you think about that new kyosho Ultima 87 that would be interesting to see what it could do. It looks like it could hang with the best of them. Two gear transmission, looks awesome, definitely a bit pricey though but being a limited edition could be a nice investment
We have one brother and plan on a trip around the track before years end. SUPER out of the budget but I really wanted it for looks alone. I wish I would have known about the Dogfighter and Clear Rc10 before hand...but it is what it is.
Should make for some good content regardless.
These videos are so satisfying to watch :) Just one little thing, the cuts between camera angles are sometimes a bit too fast / off :)
Appreciate it brother. I assure you all the cams are in sync. but am aware it can get too busy for sure. Always open to ideas to make the channel better so it doesn't go unheard. Thanks so much for watching.
@@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC And thank you for taking my comment as a constructive criticism, as i intended it to be :)
I went back and watched the jrx2 runs and ya mid corner is were the losis seemed to get the advantage the most. The smoothest ball dif in the stealth i believe would make the difference
Got to do one with the stealth for sure and I agree...it's mid corner. Good looking out!
You don’t need to swap them back. All you need is a team car, or even a championship edition for the comparison. That’s why even the world’s car was based on a pan. Still remember the rc car action comparison between these two cars and TL won out over AE even then. I don’t know why, but I was I was a fan of the RC 10 and I let that affect my decision on my first buggy should’ve got the jrx2 instead because they were just flat owning the club track races near me when I was a kid 88, 89,90. When I heard they were rereleasing them I thought maybe I’ll have one and then I saw it was 1/16 scale no thanks -U10
The Losi is a much different way of doing it for sure. I was a kid running a gold pan in the early 90s but at my little local track...that's about all everyone ran. I think I got to see a few Losi cars run but it was about the time I took a break from RC (I discovered hot rods and girls...lol). I have that composite craft 6 gear I plan on running and should have enough parts to put together a stealth/long arm car so maybe I can get them on track before years end.
Appreciate the back in the day knowledge for sure my friend.
Pop Losi had a snack shop in Cali and out of that snack shop he sold parts he made for the yokomo and associated cars. They had a falling out and he then created team Losi and made a better car. Pop and his brother also sold skateboards and skateboard parts and started their own company Variflex skateboards. Very innovative family
I didn't know about the skateboard shop! I think I recall one of the Losi guys was a pro skater though.
Cool story and thanks!
@@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC I didn’t know the skateboard part until a couple months ago, came across a video about it. Neat stuff..
