Oh wow - what a trip - that must be quite a long one! You’re so welcome - thanks very much for checking out my channel - really appreciate the support!
@@FraserAtSea It's 29 days-has a focus on Japan which is what caught my attention (and, as you noted, Alaska is fabulous...). Just so you know, I will be recommending your channel to my travel mates as well as others.
Thank you Fraser for the brilliant tour of the Discovery Princess. Very informative. Looks very luxurious. Booked for Christmas 2025 to NZ - just ever so slightly excited! I'm a solo traveller and use a small electric wheelchair to whizz around. It all looked very accessible. Was this your impression and did you travel solo on this one? (Have 3 short cruises on QE before she leaves Australian waters - so sad). Love hearing your accent - makes me a wee bit homesick!
Hey! I did indeed cruise solo on this ship. I don’t have any direct experience re accessibility, but wouldn’t imagine you’ll have any issues on a Princess ship! Thanks a lot re the accent - I get mixed reviews on it here on UA-cam, so you’ve started my week with a big smile!!
Thanks Fraser! Quite possibly my favorite ship! I was on her when she was only a few weeks old and loved everything about her! (Well.. being in my favorite place, Alaska certainly didn't hurt. 😂)
Hello Fraser...my son and grandson have just visited the Queen Mary in USA and sent picture...so i wanted to know some more...and have come across your You tube channel...i am hooked (pun intended )and have subscribed...many thanks my friend. ...brilliant photography..and commentary. Wishing you and your family well and thank you again .From Norman and Naomi...New Haw,Surrey,England.(P.s if you are ever near Woking you are welcome to visit the Obsolete odds museum (well our house !)and have a cuppa.
Hi Naomi, what a lovely comment to brighten my morning - thank you for this! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my content - welcome to my channel! Thanks so much for the offer of a brew - you never know when an offer like that could come in handy! Thanks a lot for the note - hope your family have enjoyed the Queen Mary, and thanks for supporting my channel by subscribing - it’s so appreciated!
Another super helpful video, Fraser! Thank you! So -sad news: Apparently they are getting rid of Take5 Jazz (which I would have loved for both the music and loyalty events) and giving that space to more casino play. Happening this week, I’ve heard. I’m miserable that I missed out since I won’t be on her till January.
Oh, that’s a surprise - I just assumed that venue always performed really well. I did wonder after the launch of ‘the largest casino in the fleet’ on Sun Princess, if they may edit the other ships - this might just be the answer. Thanks for sharing!
A question about the Casino: You took your video while the ship was empty... what is the Air Quality when the casino is filled with people -- and, I would expect, cigarette smoke? Is there a way to participate in Casino entertainment without having to breathe smoke? Thanks in advance. (I wish I'd seen this video before my Discovery Princess cruise last Spring.)
Hi Paula, good question! Unfortunately, I can't give you a solid answer as I wasn't really playing much back when I took this cruise. From memory, there was a no smoking section (there is on most ships), but you'd need to check this with Princess. Sorry!
Thank you for the ship tour and the commentary, so helpful when selecting our next trip. Do you know if the casino is smoke-free or do they allow smoking at the slots and/or the tables?
Hey, thanks for watching! So I think it’s mostly non smoking, with a few exceptions. However, when I cruised on here, I didn’t actually game, so can’t answer fully - sorry!
Great tour as always. Thank you. I’m considering a 30 night transpacific repositioning on this ship from Sydney to Vancouver. Can only afford an Inside cabin and not sure about 30 days in a windowless room? (I’m fine with 10 days in an Inside) Plus, I’m guessing some of the bars/venues/spa are maybe closed for these repositioning cruises? Do they sail with reduced crews? Live entertainment will be sparse I suppose. Looks like my kind of ship though and there shouldn’t be any young kids onboard. I enjoy quiet sea days so this is what attracts me.
Oh wow - 30 nights would be absolutely fantastic on a ship like this! You'll be surprised to hear that the ships will usually function as normal for these repositioning cruises, so you can expect the full Princess experience for a repositioning! I also wouldn't worry too much about being on the inside - I've spent loads of time in inside cabins, and find that I'm out enjoying the ship itself so much that I'm barely in the room. I'm excited for you - keep me updated!!
@@FraserAtSea Fraser, Thanks for the kind reply to my long comment. I plan to get this booked very soon as I see the better located Interior cabins are being scooped up already. With 30 days on a ship, maybe I’ll have to become a YT cruise vlogger to keep busy??😉
Thanks for this. Princess Live on Royal was awful for trivia sessions, but layout looks a lot better on Discovery. Hopefully they'll keep it that way for 2025/26 Australasian season.
Oh, I totally agree - I found this Princess Live to be the best I’ve seen on a Princess cruise so far! I’d see no need for them to change it, so here’s hoping! Thanks so much for supporting my channel by watching!
The enclave had a special on day 1 which was $149/person. After the first time going, the allure quickly fell off for me and my SO. The only use we had for it after was using the showers there instead of our room. There's a sign to limit 15 mins on the heated stone beds/chairs but some people would reserve it by leaving their towels there, go into the hot tub/sauna/steamroom and then say that their things were there when they get back to their chair with you in it. I'd recommend spending the money on a massage or facial treatment instead of using the enclave
Thanks for your comment! Sounds like it was busy during your cruise - I was one of few people in there when I used it, so had a very different experience. That’s a nightmare that you had ‘chair hoggers’ in the spa - I thought they only existed at the poolside, or on the top decks! Thanks for watching my tour!
@@FraserAtSea Not to fear, Fraser. You will get there sooner that you think. Hey...Do you wanna join me on a Princess Caribbean cruise in November or December? (I hate winter in Canada)
