I lost my father around 6 months ago. This video really made me tear up. The realization that you could have at least appreciated them with your words if not gifts. The realization that your father was turning old but you, too busy in your life never took the time out to look after him. My father was there for me despite how much of a success or failure I was, he looked after me regardless of how many screw ups I would do and now. Now I feel I'm alone, no one to talk to about my stuff, goals, motivations. I feel so helpless from time to time but I can't cry because only tears form. But I know better times will come and Father, I love you and I miss you and I pray that you're in a better place...
That’s kind of the beautiful thing about Sonic, despite being the fastest thing alive he cares and loves certain things so much that he’ll always slow down for them no matter what.
Commenting this before watching the video. The Mario video made me sad and everyone else I sent it to. Multiple cried. I’m looking forward to watching this.
Congrats on being the first and fastest comment! I now dub thee, the fastest comment alive. Thank you so much for watching, and let me know what you think about it.
How do we slow down in a world that follows the mantra "gotta go fast"? I don't want to be left behind either. Life is a moving train and I need to get on it eventually or else it will pass me by. I don't know what's next for me now, and I feel like I need to go go go or else I'll miss my chance. Your Firewatch video was my first video of yours I had seen. Life is scary because it goes too fast, and death is scary because the world will move on without us. Firewatch was relevant at that time in my life, and this video is relevant to me now too. Thank you sablestew, for sharing your words and experiences with us.
This too shall pass also applies to the good times. Thank you for this reminder. Slowing down through experiences is what gives them meaning more than speeding through to the next one. I'm always in awe of your writing
"Every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but that's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure." - Sonic the Hedgehog
The first video I watched from you was the Mario video, and it made me think about the decisions I made in life. It taught us, the viewers, to savor the time we spent with others. This video however teaches us to take things slow and think about our environment. Your videos inspire something in me to think about my life and the way you present these important lessons and topics with metaphoric connections to video game characters and it's features. I wish you the best and hope you don't your mind get toxined with bad memories.
Thank you so much for watching and I'm glad these videos have been speaking to you! I love all forms of media, especially video games, and as much as they shape us, we can also find meaning in the way they've been a part of our lives. I hope to continue making content that highlights how these games shape who we are. Thank you so much for your support and I hope you enjoy what I've got cooking next!
22:50 That's when you finally understood the other half of Sonic, as you showed the parts of his games where he was just chilling, talking to his friends, enjoying the limited time he has There's a reason why Sonic doesn't always go fast, he always run towards his next adventures, but he never gets worried or think too hard of what will happen next, he just lives for the moment, he just takes his time to enjoy what he has, when he gets somewhere, instead of run, he just chill in a chair enjoying his vacation wherever in the world he is, and of course, enjoy time with his friends, before heading towards the next adventure in an uncertain future Sonic is a guy who doesn't care about the past, about his mistakes, yes, what he has done is what he had to do and he doesn't regret a single thing But at the same time, he doesn't know what the future awaits, it's impossible for anyone to know, and I don't think he cares what the future awaits, he just keeps moving towards the uncertain future, ready for whatever comes next, and while that time doesn't come, he enjoys what he currently has, since the present day is the only time that you can change and be sure what you have Sonic is about not caring what you've done, your mistakes are part of who you are, and not worry about what comes next "Don't just sit there and waste your precious time. When you want to do something, do it right away. Do it when you can. It's the only way to live a life without regrets." "To live a life of power, you must have faith that what you believe is right, even if others tell you you're wrong. The first thing you must do to live a life of power is to find courage. You must be ready to reach beyond the boundaries of Time itself. And to do that, all you need is the will to take that first step..." "I'll never look back. I've got no regrets. 'Cause time doesn't wait for me. I choose to go my own way" "Nothing starts until you take action. If you have enough time to think, then run!" "My stories only end when I stop running!" "Every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but that's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure." "I heard you're going too. I'm feeling the same way. Always keep moving forward. Like that... we'll always be togheter! See you around, partner." "Fate, huh? That won't be set in stone until I give up on running!" "You've already made a difference. All the little wins, the good memories beetween the hard times, the friends we make... Those are real. Nobody can take that away. We'll keep moving forward. togheter." "We'll just have to figure out that part on the fly. I run. You watch my back. Same as always, partner." And there are many more cool quotes from this cool hedgehog who inspires me so much
Fascinating video, however sonic can't find the time to slow down to care about something as trivial as your feelings. I now wish for a billion handkerchiefs
Sonic is one of those idols where he gives a gift of joy for you to ignore all the ugly roads that are past you, at least at first. Once you go too far, you drain and you’re afraid showing type of pain to someone who means the world to you. Once that magic fades away, via Sonic 06, the burnout gets surreal. I’m terribly sorry for your loss and sadness. Your moments are much more deserving than how you avoided them. Sonic may be fast, but even he slows down whenever something is important to him. Now THAT is the lesson of Sonic
This is a good question. I don't harbor any ill will towards Sonic as a character and franchise (despite some bad games). As I said in the video, he perpetuated an idea that was already ingrained in society. Going fast was just a consequence of how fast life goes. I only wished I had more memories with Sonic and the ones I loved before they were gone. In terms of forgiveness, Sonic doesn't need to be forgiven. For this video I played a ton of sonic games and really savored the moments of playing them now, so I'm grateful for what they have provided. I do want to play more games and have more sonic experiences while I still can, and if Sonic can provide more great experiences, then I'm happy that he gets to go fast.
My father kicked the bucket this summer. Unfortunately, he did not see me enter adulthood. I have been forced to come to terms with the fact that there is more than his corpse in the urn. An entire world went to the grave with him. Since then, my perception seems to simply have distorted. Those I just this spring considered friends now I cannot stand. And old mates, whom I thought of as ghosts of my past have suddenly become highly meaninful. But among the things I have noted is that with his death, I have seemingly started to speed up. Whereas before I more or less coasted through life I now find myself crushed under the pressure of my expectations, just like you found yourself crushed by yours. These words of yours are right now helping me from total implosion (and accompanying annihilation). From the deepest depths of my heart: Thank you. For strangely, the words of a foreigner ring louder than those I thought cared the most.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I hope you're doing well after your father's passing. Life can be incredibly difficult and the pressure of it is suffocating, but I hope you are finding ways of celebrating joy and savoring the moments you have now. I am incredibly happy that my words have helped, even if for a moment. Wishing you all the best as you continue to navigate life and hope you find great friends you can rely on!
Stop. Making. Me. CRY! THATS IT! You are BANNED FROM THE INTERNET, BANNED FROM MAKING VIDEOS, AND BANNED FROM VIDEO GAMES! In all seriousness, another beautiful and brilliant video tying in childhood video games with adult struggles. I hope it does as well as the Mario one and you continue to see growth 🎉
Thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad it resonated with you! I love your comment, and I'm flattered at your support for my growth. I hope that, despite the tears, you left with something to help you grow too. Wishing you all the best!
Sonic wasn't speed running getting a PhD in the games, he just runs fast. His speed is representative of his care free personality. I don't even really get how you created the connection between money and going fast like Sonic. The dude is literally homeless, he aint got no job. He doesn't care enough. The themes of pretty much every Sonic game are to live life to the fullest, not to let things get you down, and to keep going. Sonic Team never tried putting the idea to speedrun life in your head. I just don't get it, I'm sorry
I dont think that's what he's trying to say. I think it's more of a metaphor than him actually thinking its the message they were trying to tell with the franchise. That being said though, it makes it kind of a bad metaphor because that's the exact opposite of what Sonic as a character is, but it's also not like he doesn't acknowledge that in the video just listen to what he says at 21:27

another awesome vid 🙏🏻
This and the mario video is poetic. The story with your friend betraying you in the mario video and now this. This is beautiful. Keep it up.
Mario was his best friend, and Sonic was his hero.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with Sonic with us! We can all learn a lot from your wise words!

Here we go boys! Been waiting for this one!
This video was great to watch! I grew up playing sonic games so seeing this really interested me :)
Have you forgiven Sonic for making you take life too quickly?

Sonics speed is so he can help everyone and be cool not just so he can go fast. "If you leap without a net you'll find he can be there all the time"
Hello
Hi!
My condolences to your father and sister.

Reject irony and embrace vulnerability.

You have an Adachi profile picture. I declare with the power i have been given: your opinion is now invalidated.
@kedamono6282 I feel like there's worse profile pictures. What's wrong with Adachi?
