SA1 feels like a bigger game with its overworld, and going through the same main story with 6 different characters, experiencing each one’s perspective, how Tikal takes each of them to the past, and how it all comes together… SA2 is a great game but it’s all plot (dare I say similar to Sonic Forces, which is over-hated in my opinion), while SA1 is more character driven. And a movie could not do it justice, unless maybe they broke it up into two or three movies, and they’d never do that. It’s the one game that truly deserves a proper remake.
Lmao same. I grinded City Escape so hard as a kid that I ended up creating a route that always gave me an A rank with 400+ rings, even without the power-ups. 😂 It's been well over a decade since I first played SA2:B on my Gamecube and I still know the route by heart 😊

The producer of the original Sonic 06 game this year said that he wants an opportunity to remake 06, so we could eventually get an offically licensed multiplatform remake of that game if the Japanese higher-ups agree on letting that happen. Instead of players continuing to be stuck with only the original version and an impressive unfinished fanmade remake that won't have the story mode & the hub-worlds and is exclusive to strong Windows PCs that not everyone who wants to can afford to get.
I love the explosion in the background as he's doing tricks in the air but yes that is evident. It's scarier and gives you more reason to run the hell out of there as it creeps on you even after turns.
@@zenfismcgowan2084 a little bit of correction. The original is Dreamcast but Battle (which GC have) was the version that added on things. But gameplay is the same though. Just the connections that GC and GBA have. But you aren't wrong of the whole spin attack. You can somewhat lose the truck. As long as you do spin attack.
Got some rough spots to iron out for sure, but I dig where this is headed. Love how Shadow's cutscene makes it more obvious that the police sirens specifically were what triggered his PTSD flashback, that's a nice touch
I wasn't expecting the cutscene introducing Radical Highway since they skipped the Big Foot boss cutscenes. The gameplay looks really fun and smooth, I like the new somersault, the fact Sonic seems faster and how all assets are new, not reused from the original, that alone talks a lot about the work done here. Looking forward to what else they can do and how they improve over the original in terms of gameplay
at 1:14, in the original game, if you ran up a ramp and did not hit the jump button, you couldn't do homing attack, you had to land first then jump then you could homing attack the pack of rings. this is a really small but very nice quality of life upgrade
Na sonic adventure 1 is far better than this game. I hated playing as the other characters....especially the knuckles and rogue levels. In SA1 playing as the other characters wasn't god awful.
@@vando6679 Huh?? SA2 is leagues better. XD/SA1 felt like such a tedious chore between character quests and story progression. SA2 was more linear and had a way better chao system for end game enjoyment.

Playingb as Tails and Eggman was a little better but still just fluff. The other characters never had good story arcs and didn't progress at all....unlike SA1

It's the perfect nod to the fact that Sonic Team censored that bit in Shadow The Hedgehog, and we never got to officially clearly see how that transpired, even though there are leaks to what official was cut. Kudos to this remake for putting that back in and doing as well as they did with it.

Fuck me, even the Shadow cutscene was mostly well-done. Definitely impressed by the work done here. That lighting needs changing dramatically first and foremost- I know SA2 didn't have much in the way of lighting and shadows, but whatever baked-in UE5 dynamics are on display here seriously need reconsidering.

I appreciate the indicator for the homing attack, so you don't have to worry about, "Is this one of those times when he's going to home in on the thing right in front of me, or is he going to launch himself off in some other direction entirely?"
MOST IMPRESSIVE here are my thoughts: I do like the dramatic weather change in both City Escape and the Shadow fight, although you could give Sonic a victory pose for everytime at the end of winning a stage. In Metal Harbor, replacing the pipe slide with a skydiving section was an oversight, but cool nonetheless. Sonic's fight with Shadow was awesome, the animation with the close quarters combat was a thing of beauty, you really went all out that one, did you? I give you a 10/10.
I always find it funny when people try to act that something that's impressive for a fan made work is "mind blowing!", despite the fact that it's nowhere near a professional level
I had this for the Dreamcast as a kid. Even had the little memory card that you could play games on. I still sing this song daily while I’m cleaning or something lol
the sound on picking up rings could definitely use a softer sound, lightspeed dash , that ping at the start of each pick up, is painfully sharp but damn does this still look really good
Honestly, there have been SO MANY remakes of this level that its the Sonic equivalent of the "Hello World" programming exercise. To be considered a true Sonic fan you gotta remake the SA2 intro 😅

This looks super promising! Homing attack locking on to grindable rails is fantastic. Still some quirks to work out like the trick animation while boarding or "omochao's" hints, but looks awesome
It looks visually great! I Would like to see the floatiness of it's animations tinkered with, some of the transitions between anim states are feel too smooth and appear to glide over the surface before returning to the running anim. I love the remastering they've added to his boss battles. They feel more engaging to play. The Rival Battle in particular now feels like a proper fight rather than floundering around in a small arena, giving it more impact. I'm assuming the HUD is being worked on still, and what's in place is a stand-in for the final product, so its fine for the purpose of what it's there for haha. I'm keen to see where they go with this. It looks like they're taking some positive creative liberties for gameplay to improve interactivity. I'm keen to see how they tackle the treasure hunting stages in particular, as they felt tedious originally, however necessary to mix up gameplay to provide variety.
I have watched NewFramePlus' sonic video TOO many times, and I have noticed something here that's off with lower movement speed (I'm watching Sonic, City Escape). When sonic is walking or jogging there should be more vertical movement in the animation to emphasise that each step requires effort - whereas here, he is too flat/level when walking and it looks closer to sliding/gliding. This smooths out as he gains speed and momentum would be keeping him lower to the ground - the high speed sonic here looks PEAK!! 👌 In fact, apart from that one critisism, everything looks AMAZING!! Unbelievably talented devs!! This could legitimately ship tomorrow - you've nailed the visual update SO perfectly! It captures the old feel (where a lot of fan remakes fall short) but looks so fresh and appealing!!
City Escape looked absolutely gorgeous. I’m honestly surprised Sega didn’t rerelease Adventure 2 around the time of the Sonic 3 film. It would have been a real “cha-ching” moment
For that Shadow fight, I'd consider adding some kind of glowy effect to show where he is on that branch. Make him stand out more, maybe some kind of orange or red aura?

I cannot explain why, but it is so easy for me to determine if any game is made in unreal engine (not just sonic stuff either). Its not a complaint, its just a neat thing

aww man my favorite part is the fast smooth moving ramp tricks, wow thats exactly how i wanted it and how i imagined it as a kid, playing on the gamecube thought was beautiful especially for back then, although i love the updated fps of this version, almost looks the same graphically, but much better lighting and textures are all hd, its beautiful, i love how true they kept it to the original, best sonic game of ALL TIME!
A Sonic Adventure 2 remake to celebrate Sonic's 3rd movie would be so killer!

Since the movie was successful I hope Sega remasters both SA1 and 2

A little crusty in places, but overall this is coming along beautifully. There's a fair bit of care and appreciation that's very apparent.
Most impressive one yet. Really looking forward to see it completed.
Them: "Check out this complete remake with better graphics, animations, physics, and level design!"
Me: "What about the music, did you update that too?"
Them: "Nah we didn't touch that, it's already perfect"
City Escape was kinda meh, but Metal Harbor looks amazing!

aww man my favorite part is the fast smooth moving ramp tricks, wow thats exactly how i wanted it and how i imagined it as a kid, playing on the gamecube thought was beautiful especially for back then, although i love the updated fps of this version, almost looks the same graphically, but much better lighting and textures are all hd, its beautiful, i love how true they kept it to the original, best sonic game of ALL TIME!
