@@the.dirty.pigeon the job was done well, but I personally would prefer to search and buy the color I want rather than use a dye, as dye brings the value down (hance I said the shoes are ruined). But if we are only measuring the job then we'll done.
I decided to try my first pair of dark brown suede loafers. Not sure if I was going to like using them - so I bought a pair of cheaper made Rockports in dark brown. They look fine, and I will be wearing for them a year or two before deciding if I want to invest in a well made GYW brand version.
Nice. I’m not entirely convinced that casual loafers need to be the highest quality. Of course, they shouldn’t be terrible. I’ve done well with newer Bass Weejuns, Meermin and J.Crew. I had some higher end Brooks Brothers cordovan loafers a while back and sold them-they were almost too nice and never seemed to look right with anything. Thanks for watching!
I’m a 7-7.5 and I used about 1 1/2 bottles. I probably wasted a lot of the dye by pouring it out on a plate. For 13, you might even need 3 of the small bottles? Maybe check the returns policy and send one back if you don’t get to it? Best of luck!
Nice. I’ve been wearing them around and they’re great… much more versatile than the original color. They’re also weirdly comfortable compared to any other loafers I own, which is a bonus. Thanks for watching!
I just came from the, The elegant Oxford video you speak of~ I wish there were more color swatches available. I’m looking through people’s videos using the saphir brand to see if they’re using the color I’m looking for. I want a dark brown with blue undertones rather than red. That being said, what color did you use so I can avoid it? Haha 😅 Also, do your loafers feel pretty rigid after or are they still flexible? I considered going the cheaper route with fiebings dye that claim to give a flexible finish however I just watched a video of a guy comparing different brands, fiebings being one of them and the leather turned super hard and rigid 🙃
This was the shade simply called “Brown.” Somebody else mentioned that you theoretically could add a bit of blue dye to the brown but that seems risky unless you have some test suede to try it on. As for the feel of the suede, the shoes are still very flexible and comfortable; however, the hand feel of the suede is a little more rough than it was pre-dye. I hope that helps and good luck! Let me know how it goes…
@ I appreciate your response! Yeaa adding the blue feels too risky for me but that’s a great idea~ I will report back after I’ve built up the courage to carry the project through. Thanks 👍🏽👍🏽
So did I ruin these shoes or do they look alright? Let me know what you think.
Honestly speaking you kinda ruined them, but if you are happy, then good for you
@@isaacsello6097 Ha! Your honesty is appreciated. Is it the color that doesn’t work for you or does it actually look like a bad job?

They look great , that’s the color most people want right out of the box.
Thanks! I’ve been wearing them a lot and, overall, like how they turned out.
Perfect job 👏 👌 🙌 👍 💯🔥
Thanks! I think they turned out pretty well.

They look great congratulations. Which dye color you used?
Thank you! I used the one simply called “brown”… SAPHIR BEAUTÉ DU CUIR Teinture Francaise Leather Dye 50ml (Brown)
Nice! I wear 13. Who knows how much dye those would take. I'd waterseal those before wearing.

What is the exact color you used from saphir?
It was 04 simply called “Brown”. Amazon link in the video description. Cheers!
Nice !
Thanks for watching!
I'd call that a win.

😢😢😢
I think you did a good job, although I can see your point about the redness. Personally, I don't think I could trust myself to dye my shoes!
Thank you! It was a fun project but I don’t think I’ll make a habit of it haha.

Sapphir also make the dye in a spray can. Much better
Ah nice. I didn’t see that. Thanks for the tip!
