"What are those loafers you're wearing" all but the tassel loafer (which is J Fitzpatrick) and blue suede (Grant Stone) are named this video: ua-cam.com/video/InzGeyZDxmY/v-deo.html
Good quality shoes all have a break-in period (which is why repairing is key) but after wearing new shoes for a few weeks if extra room is still needed or a specific area is uncomfortable, use Ralyn Stretchers or just have a cobbler professionally stretch your shoes. Ralyn makes width stretchers, vamp raiser, toe raiser, bunion stretchers, boot stretchers and 2-way stretchers.
Hi Nick, I disagree on sizing a loafer/boat shoe down. I am an avid sperry/loafer wearer. I usually size either in my normal shoe size (10 mens) or half a size up (10.5 mens). My feet are too wide, I use to size down to 9.5 but shoes felt too tight even sockless. I prefer some room for my toes and I size up, in case I need to wear socks. I also size up in my Chelsea boots. As always, keep up the useful content.
Do you wear true to size with Gucci loafers as well? I got a size 10 but notice an ever so slight heel slippage. My foot isn’t going to come out and they’re comfortable to wear now, I don’t have to break them in but they might stretch?
It seems like a lot of people in these comments aren't watching it listening to what is being said. They said "generally" you'd want to size down (which is true) but there are exceptions. One of which they mentioned was when the feet are too narrow, so obviously it also applies to when it's too wide
Another great video. Justin is amazing. He learned his craft in some exceptional places in London and all round Europe. He’s an incredibly knowledgeable guy. He’s also very cool.
You could use an insole to fit a loose loafer. And use a tennis ball, in my case a pickleball and a half insole under the ball to stretch the top of shoes.
I really like the sports jacket you’re wearing Nick. What brand is it? BTW for what it’s worth, I think it would look better unbuttoned while you’re seated.
Stretch to fit depends on the leather type. You need the right last for a tight starting fit to work, and the right leather. I have some looser fitting loafers that work really well. Blake stitched is good for loafers.
Boy, a tough crowd in the comments. I've been shopping for loafers for work, and these videos have been very helpful. I used to be a boot- only guy, but they aren't really appropriate for my new job.
Tongue pads can make all the difference for a loafer that fits everywhere but the instep… if the instep is slightly too big and causes heel sleep, Pedag tongue pads can give you a couple mms of volume and are only a few dollars.
yeah good point, this wasn't a whole video about how to adjust the fit but I have some tips on fitting too-big shoes here ua-cam.com/users/shortspieCQ8KpCC0
I wish I liked loafers, I would like a leather shoe alternative to wear with shorts but I just dont vibe with the style at all. Too ivy league prep, but respect the craft.
New Balance, Nike, Adidas, all in 7Uk, boots, oxford’s and loafers all in 6Uk size. And all works perfectly. New loafer need to be snug or very snug, but not painful, because after years wearing loafers will loose a lots.
No matter how hard and expansive I try or search I cannot get loafers to fit. Cursed with a high bridge (not a high arch) through all the UK brands like church, Loake or Grenson and many others. Even a pair purchased whilst in indonesia
I dislike all boots without adjustablility with laces. Loafers, chelseas, etc. You either get it perfect or it's never gonna fit good. It's so much easier jus to stick to laced footwear.
My first pair of dress shoes I picked out a pair of loafers online. Had a US size 10 I tried on in the store but returned them cause I thought they were kinda cheap. They fit me ok, maybe slightly loose. I sized down to a 9 this time with a new brand. And man, these are looser than the first pair! As I tried to break them in around the house they keep getting looser. I’ll have to exchange them for 8s. I wear 10-10.5 in sneakers/ normal shoes and that’s borderline too tight on me sometimes width and height. I’d rather they be slightly snug and stretch out. Can’t have my heel popping out. Especially with thin socks or not at all, as you guys mentioned
Hey Stridewise.... would you be willing to look into or cover Oro Los Angeles being a scam company now? I have direct proof and I (or others) are working on a class action lawsuit hopefully soon so we can get our money back. Hope you see this. Thanks in advance
My pet hate is loafers, much prefer boots, more versatile. Also remember that in winter your feet will be cooler, in warmer spring and summer your feet are warmer and can swell, can be half a size bigger. Slightly snug on purchasing but definitely not tight, sorry some terrible advice here
Did you watch the same video I did? Because they made it clear multiple times that the shoe should feel snug, but not so tight you can't move your toes or get your heels out. You're fighting ghosts
@@whereRbearsTeethThey never ever said to they it should be painful or expect it to be painful. What are you guys saying? They said snug, but to the point you can still move your toes around and get your heel out. That's not painful. And yes, leather shoes actually can and do get stretched whether you want to or not. Bespoke makers and cobblers do it successfully for a reason
Just because he sells shoes doesn’t mean he is a stylish guy. It is always good to educate yourself. 99% of salesmen are dummies and do not know what they are doing.Their sole purpose is just to convince and sell product. A sales man once told me to select a comfortable jeans and comfortable to him means baggy.I dont go near them when i want to shop in stores. Many are just creepy and will come to the dressing room to ask if it fits or you are ok.

this was so helpful to me, I already have my brannock size pretty much. I just needed to know how to know if the loafer fits or not. Great video!

To be fair, they said you “MAY” have to size down. Not “everyone MUST size down”.

@@daniell2217That's not even being "fair" honestly. They're straight up giving the same advice this commentor thinks they're not saying

Hey guys, great seeing you together again on UA-cam. Two of NY’s finest! ✌🏻
Carl should have joined the two of you. He loves loafers!
Absolutely. He's particularly fond of the no socks loafer look.
As always, we draw inspiration for our work on your wonderful channel respect from collegues shoemakers

What brand of Loafers are those at 3:40 ? Thanks
Looks like a Beefroll loafer from either Rancourt or Oak Street Bootmakers.

yeah my most worn loafers (Oak Street) are blake stitch, big fan of it for loafers

Sp, if my feet are 24cm, should I get 24.1 centimeter or 25.1?
What loafers does j Fitzpatrick have on while he’s sitting down in the video?
Found out the hard way with suade loafers that i have to size down from my normal shoe size.
Waiting for a Carl collaboration with these.

I tend to wear the same size for boots, oxfords and loafers, and they fit well.
Do you like the band Tool?

@AdamJones381 oh ok thats the guitarist name.
I love loafers but they don't love me. My forefoot is ever so slightly wide and my heels are ever so slightly narrow. 😞😞😞
Carl Murawski might have some thoughts…
Bro loves loafers. Can't stop talking about them.
Great fit in this video. Happy to see skinny jeans going away.
thanks! i got the sports jacket on eBay haha, I'm going through a big tweed phase

no way i LOVE those pants i'm wearing them to my grave
Shoes should be pain free from first try on,,,,for me a snug fit mean painful fit

his position of "i'm not recommending it, i'm just saying some people have success with it" is very hard to parse
