    this laksa is a lil bit over price i think because of the restaurant concept.nyonya laksa jongker88 at jongker street next to Taman Warisan Dunia jongker Street is a better choice is cheaper and the taste is also not bad.but choice is yours money is yours.with aircon of cos more expensive(restaurant) and w/o aircon is cheaper(old 1939 shoplot).just my

    Isn’t it dangerous to be wearing a white shirt when you’re eating laksa? The curry broth could splatter on your nice white shirt and I don’t think the stain would wash out

    • @TheGourmetPlate
      @TheGourmetPlate  2 роки тому +1

      Don’t worry, we have anti splash skills courtesy to frequent laksa encounters 🤣

    No yea laksa don’t put egg, tofu pok. Pure Nonya laksa only comes with fish cake and cockle. This pure nonya laksa. The above laksa is Chinese.

    Well done. Good review of food. But please do tone down on the slurping, not pleasant at all! 🙏

    • @301250
      @301250 2 роки тому +1

      Asians, or rather the Chinese in particular, love their food to be hot when they are eating as food tastes its best when eaten at a certain temperature. That’s why food served in fine dining restaurants (I am talking about the ones serving Western meals!) are always served on plates which have been “heated up” either in the oven or under the salamander. So, to enjoy noodles (the ones with a hot liquid base, that is), it has to be eaten while still hot, but the danger here is the one of scalding the diner’s palette& tongue. The act of slurping (with its inevitable accompanying loud noise!) creates “air turbulence” which then “cools” down the temperature of the noodles, facilitating entry of the noodles into the mouth without causing pain (or even injury!) to buccal tissue when in contact with something hot!
      Actually, in Japan, slurping is not considered uncouth as it indicates that the diner enjoys his or her noodles, whereby this very animal like sound manifests his or her compliments & approbation of the zen cook’s culinary skill! Not to slurp is considered rude, just like eating without using cutlery, for example, but with the hands (common & acceptable in some Asian countries) is considered, pace Dr.Mahathir, unhygienic or even uncivilised in the West. These days it’s not uncommon to encounter all kinds of noise when eating in a restaurant, whether slurping, loud burping, diners having a very animated conversation oblivious to those around them and a host of other unwelcome sounds & din!j

    The subtitles is redundant and NOT ACCURATE

    • @TheGourmetPlate
      @TheGourmetPlate  2 роки тому

      Hello there, yes they are UA-cam auto generated subtitles which is why it isn’t accurate.
      We usually do our own subtitles but due to our travelling schedule we couldn’t make it in time for the Melaka episodes. We will get back on track with our own subtitles again once our schedule isn’t that hectic☺️

  • @patrickleongtc
    @patrickleongtc 2 роки тому

    Who is doing the subtitles for you? Just a comedy of errors all over.

    • @TheGourmetPlate
      @TheGourmetPlate  2 роки тому

      Hi Patrick, we do our own subtitles but due to our schedule we couldn’t do the subtitles in time so we’re currently using UA-cam autogenerated subtitles…hence the funny mistakes 😂
      Our apologies, will get back on track after our travel and start doing our own subtitles again 😉

    For longtime STADHUYS in Melaka been using wrong spelling. Should be STADHUIS which means CITY HALL. Jakarta also still keep its STADHUIS in Kota Tua (Old Town) until now which converted to be a museum Fatahillah.
