Both were completely devoid of emotion. Forest just knows the radio tricks, so it felt more like a polished song you'd actually hear. But nah this was all generic nonsense.

I love how they get excited over each other’s versions! This enthusiasm is what music, and music production should be about always! My vote goes to Forrest, for that awsome drum fill :)

Forest's version had a very definite maturity. Nathen's version was good on its own. It's only when you compare it with forests you realise what experience does to a track ❤️

When I first heard Forest's version I thought there's no way anyone can match this! But Nathan's last chorus is just killer!!! Especially with the horns at the end.
Forest's sounds like the original pop radio mix and Nathan's is the more interesting remix of it. Both were fantastic, great job and I look forward to more of these battles!

That's it. Forest's version is great and meets very well what we keep on listening in the main stream media. So it meets the the spirit of the current producing and listening conventions. So Nathan's in my opinion is the more creative and surprising one. May be 1 or 2 decades ago I would have stated the opposite.
The only thing I have to complain is that both are way to loud. But that's the opinion of a guy who grew up with vinyl and headphones listening to what was called progressive rock. So I'm wondering if someone gives a sh.. on this comment two years after launching the video. 🙂

Man you both killed it though! His I think complimented the vocal stem a bit more, but I love how your versions were both so different! Yours was definitely out of the box and was so unique, which made it really difficult to decide. Because I love originality like that. So for me it just came down to which jived with the vocal stem more!
His rhythms that he did to compliment the vocal were sick!

Kinda crazy hearing the stark contrast of Forest building the production more engulfing the vocals vs Nathan building the vocals more engulfing the production. Kinda gives you the version of POP Indie vibes vs Atmospheric CLUB vibes.

Forest's mix is so great, it's captivating right from the first note, showing the subtlety of perfectly combining the timbre of each instrument of an experienced and experienced producer. A sweet mix, understand and cherish the singer's voice... Nathan, your mix is also great, it brings novelty, youthful vitality to the song.. Thanks , both are great.. I think so!
Both end products were amazing, but if I had to pick one, I'd say Forest you can produce my tracks anytime!

Nathan, thanks so much for this series. I think the greatest takeaway is that there's no "right" way to produce a given song. Not that there aren't some things that work better than others, but seeing just how many directions one can take a song in and still sound great is really freeing!

I like the way forest started the song mood, it was a bit present than Nathan's introduction, but Nathan killed that chorus with beautiful ambients sounds and made it so professional...... by the way you both did an incredible job.

The vocals that Forrest produced make me feel like an actual singer is singing next to me.
I loved both so much. Nathan's version got me into my feelings. So deep and I had my legs tapping to the beat. Forest on the other hand is just a true definition of genius. Those acoustics are just perfect. That was an award winning track right there. I am having a great time on this channel. ☺

Nathan, great club remix approach, but sorry, Forrest really nailed it on that. I loved the instrumental dynamic and the arrangements. But yours kicks well on the layers building and the grow up atmosphere. Really cool to see the different approaches on the same melody

Both were so 🔥. I'd give Forest's a slight edge simply because of those hits throughout. So good, man. It makes you groove to the music without even noticing you are. With Nathan's, I really love how he builds and creates atmosphere. Simply awesome.

Ok so I’ve watched this video multiple times now cuz it’s great 😂
Now I’m almost getting a different interpretation of the lyrics from the way you guys arranged it.
Forest’s to me is the feel-good version: the singer is in this love bubble and can literally see/think about no one else but this person. They’re playing favorites, but they can’t help it.
Yours feels more like a rebellious/moody version lol like the singer is focusing more on all the haters haha. “I’m playing favorites, and y’all just gotta get over it”😂
So fun how the production can have such an impact on the feel and interpretation!

Totally loved watching this competition and the different ideas that came out of this. I'm not certain if I'm bias but I'm gonna pick Forest's version of the song. I like that it was more upbeat and it sounded like something that I'd be jamming in my car drive to work!

Forrest made a solid pop song from the vocals. Nathan's is like the b=side club mix. I love that I wasn't alone in thinking that when I heard the similarity in the chords at the beginning, thanx Forrest. I'm a Dj so I'm gonna go with the B=side, although I can think of a half dozen ways to remix either track and make them floor stompers as I'm typing out this reply. Bravo guys!

This was super fun to watch, especially the excitement and the reactions. Love both versions. If I had to choose, I prefer Forest’s. forest handed your ass to you Michelin style. The difference is epic. It is like one guy did the music without the vocals and then added them, while Forest actually listened to the music and did a composition to enhance the vocals.

Well... Both productions sounded very good... I missed additional melody elements in both productions from other Instruments or Sounds (they can be added later) so it sticks in my head (and sing it unconsciously) 😁
