    I think the issue is that to build something decent, you need to sample multiple options ranging from sub $100 through the ~$200-500 range. Might be interesting to see what happens if you spend $1,000 at each stage and picking the best from each stage to send to the next stage.

    For what you paid, you pretty much got your money's worth. That being said, I would go 3.5. Not faulting any performer for the rating, you just got 10 to $15 product.
    I agreed on the consistent doubling throughout the first one. It just didn't have any range or emotion throughout as a result.
    Your piece used unique sounds, as well as more through mixing, and production as a whole. I dug it. The harmonic and coral undertones on yours were really great, Nathan.
    In short, you get what you pay for.

    Agree..the Fiverr mix was competing against itself and too narrow in EQ. I liked your acoustic guitar part. The "start stop" vocal line was clever, would have loved for the drums to act as a rhythmic counterpoint (so-to-speak) rather than just straight, I was hearing something like a Police reggae feel but also with a subliminal driving percussion element. A high bell sound, even something whimsical that underscores what I felt was a lighthearted way to say "I love you" would have been fun. Haven't watched you in awhile, but this was worth checking out. Thanks...I know it took quite awhile to produce!

    I hired my 3rd mix master from another gig cause I wasn’t satisfied with the results with the last two. The first one was way over saturated and too much reverb, no separation. The second one it has good separation with the instrument but solos where over gained I even asked for changes and it seems they couldn’t get it. I hope the third is better lol

    Probably not fair for those fiverr artists to have that represent their work.
    To be responsible for just one piece of the puzzle without any context to what any of the other parts are like…im surprised it didn’t turn out worse than it did.
    However, the result of the fiverr mashup seems to have served its purpose. Allowing this creator to showcase a clearly superior piece to compare to.
    I believe had the fiverr guys been able to collaborate somehow, or if each piece of the music were completed in order, for instance, drums finished before supplying the scratch plus the new drums to the pianist, then those tk pieces complete before turning over to the fill, or guitar or whatever. Then all those finished before turning over to the artist responsible for vocals. And all of that complete before turning over to the engineer and mastering etc.
    Some sort of idea to move from between different sections.
    It’s like with any art form.
    Imagine doing this with a painting for example.
    Separated into segments, one artist responsible for the sky, one responsible for foliage. Another for people or animals, a different artist for sketch, then a different for final line work, then a different one for color, a doffeeent for shading.
    Imagine that, no context, some may add a bit of abstract flair, others may have a cartoonish appearance, others are hyper realistic, the sketch and line work complete with the hodgepodge of different flavors, to try and color that somehow to look decent.
    Of course a mediocre artist would have a better looking painting doing it all one’s self.
    Idk. Long comment here I guess

    • @NathanJamesLarsen
      @NathanJamesLarsen  16 днів тому +1

      Agreed - the issue is that the way I went about this is really how a LOT of people go about it. I was trying to approach this with a more hands off approach to actually in part demonstrate how key it is to have a creative "director" who is making sure the pieces are put together right. Because had there been that component it wouldve been different.
      But that is just not how most people are using Fiverr unfortunately.

    • @NathanJamesLarsen
      @NathanJamesLarsen  11 місяців тому +1

      Hey - I have an extensive set of sound libraries I use. But here's what I recommend that I love and use a LOT
      1. Native Instruments (I have Komplete Ultimate Collectors - not cheap but you could literally use JUST this and have top tier records)
      2. Output (just all their stuff is insanely good... Analog Strings, Analog Brass, Substance (insanely good bass library), and Signal - great stuff) Arcade is their loops based library - and I do sometimes use it for drum toppers (I used that on this production) but I dont use it much beyond that
      3. Spitfire - if you like anything cinematic - it's incredible. All of it. Spitfire LABS is free - so definirely get that - it's a no brainer.
      4. Hammers + Waves (by Skybox Audio) is by FAR my all time favorite keys library. It's more than just keys - it's kind of my secret sauce.
      Those three should basically get you everything you need.

    • @NathanJamesLarsen
      @NathanJamesLarsen  20 днів тому

      In fairness to them - it's not a mix engineers job to tune vocals. But the mix was definitely not what I would expect from a professional.

  • @anniezheng8138
    @anniezheng8138 25 днів тому

    ok, to be fair, it sounds like none of the producers had the chance to collaborate with each other, so they couldn't exactly check in with each other to make sure their sounds fit together cohesively. they didn't know what each other's "angle" would be. also, because they were producing for a client rather than themselves, they were likely less inclined to take creative risks the way you did, because they didn't know 1.) if the client would like it and 2.) if it would fit in with the production choices of the other instruments.

    • @NathanJamesLarsen
      @NathanJamesLarsen  24 дні тому +1

      Totally agree which is a pretty fair argument for the whole ending point which is that is usually doesn't turn out well when you try to puzzle piece things together like this. That's actually a big point or takeaway from it.

    Actually pretty shitty paying bottom dollar for musicians trying to make an honest living then laughing and making goofy faces at the result. No one is going to spend their whole day for that kind of money so you get what you pay for. Had you chosen another freelancer the result could have been totally different. You paid less than $100 all while knowing you were going to show off on UA-cam after it was done.

    yea the fiverr collab was terrible - i think 4.5 was generous. i have had over 200 fiverr orders and occasionally have subpar results. i usually spend many hours vetting sellers, so most of my experiences have been awesome. ur version definitely sounded pro. the vocal melody was a lil meh for me and one dimensional (performance was great given what she had) u def injected a tonne of dynamic into ur production having it sound fresh and commercial. a nice song promo vid :)

    Come on, are you really need to challenge random amateurs from fiverr that are worth 100$ as a pro producer? Who will win - elephant or 5 ants? And as a randoms they had harder job than you had. Challenge me then, im taking 500$ vs your 5k$

    frankly, you got sub-par because you provided sub-par🤷‍♂️
    you had the benefit of working towards a goal and vision; where no one you hired had much to work with.
    I may have missed it, but did you hire a vocalist too? Was that “final” product working with the vocal and keys tracks that you provided….and you yourself replaced…?😂

    Ninguna me gustó, más de lo mismo, hacer algo correcto no significa que sea algo que escucharas dos veces, mucha sobreproducción siempre, forest whitehead es un claro ejemplo de dónde debes ir.
    La búsqueda sigue eso es lo importante y abandona el Ego que está dejándote mal.

      No, musicians were paid peanuts, then handed over the best they could justify for that amount of money to the cheapskate on the other end. Little did they know that the "Pro Producer" was going to mock them on his channel.

    i love your spirit and enthusiasm that you show regarding your process of making a great sounding mix. And just for kicks, i gotta say you slightly resemble Prince Harry - i hope you take that as a good thing!!
