I have a brand new camp chef. It keeps tripping my out door plug gfi? Do you think it's the plug? I got the wood win pro 36 It did not trip when I had my smaller put boss. Any ideas? I plugged it into a different outlet inside my kitchen and it's a regular plug and seems fine.
like your videos, with the sg and the woodwind, is there that much of a difference in the controllers?, i want the wood wind, but like the black lid on the sg, and the controller seams to be where the differences at, besides the legs... sure its probably nice having extra probes, but besides the extra probes, is it worth the upgrade to the wood wind?
Hey Kevin thanks for watching and reaching out! The difference between the two is $100 so it’s really not too significant. What you lose by going down to the SmokePro is the bottom shelf, two probes, stainless steel lid, and the color controller. Both controllers are PID and work well at maintaining the internal temperature of the grill. I don’t miss the 2 probes (but maybe I will in the future when I really load it up) there is no timer on the SmokePro controller which is ok since we have cell phones. The color controller is nice. It’s a little higher up and it’s angled upwards so it’s easier to work with without bending over. The bottom shelf on the woodwind is cool if you aren’t moving the grill around.... if you move it in and out of the garage, things tend to fall off that shelf if you don’t remove them first. So for me I don’t need it. I personally like the looks of both grills, but after going through the other differences for me $100 extra for a stainless lid is not necessary so I am perfectly happy with my Camp Chef SmokePro SG24 WiFi!
@@AndersonsSmokeShow thanks for the reply, thats exactly where im at, im planning on getting the side kick attachment like you did in the video, which sort of brings the price even closer, unless there is a hidden bundle price like they have on the woodwind. My one other thing, on the controller again, is it lookes easier to read and use, which would make it easier, for like my wife, to use it, but with the app that might be mute. Anyways, i agree on the other stuff you said, can't wait what you cook on it next!
The color controller on the woodwind is a little more intuitive as it lists the menu and you can scroll down through it. It’s also mounter a little higher and pitched upwards to make it easier to read and control.
Is there a cover that will fit the grill with that griddle installed? I was looking at my current cover and looks like it will not fit with the attachment installed.
So with the leveling screws what I did is actually drill through the grill at those holes, install screws from inside grill, and use washers to accomplish leveling. Figured two more points of attachment to the grill would increase its ability to be stable while weight bearing.
I doubt that it’s supported as a table top unit.... Camp Chef does have tabletop units that are very similar though: bit.ly/3lqcH4Y That’s a Versatop bundle, but there are other similar offerings as well.
Camp chef needs to sell an extension rod for the ash clean out for the grills with side kick and searing station. I love my searing burner, but almost never use the ash clean out after installing it. Side kick looks even wider than the searing station.
Just had a thought. I am not sure what the dimensions are of the sidekick, but the 36” burner pullout might be long enough for the 24 in grill plus the searing burner (13”). The threads are M8 1.25 pitch by the way. I found some threaded rods that would work with a coupling nut on amazon and McMaster Carr. I’ll probably replace the knob with a longer wooden one too, as with time this part doesn’t slide very good anyway. With the added length, an extra support is probably needed as well so it doesn’t bend.
One thing to try is turn the knob just to the point where it’s about to spark, but hold it there and let a little gas build up for 3-4 seconds, then spark it..... if that doesn’t work there’s a metal rod used to conduct the spark. See if you can bend that a little bit until you see a spark jump between the igniter and the burner
@@AndersonsSmokeShow thanks for replying! I do see a spark when I try to ignite it but it won’t ignite burner. Do I need to bend the rod a certain way. Should it be higher or closer to burner? I know there’s gas flowing because it does light up when I use a regular lighter
To celebrate my dads birthday we have a certified angus beef tenderloin (which I’ll prepare into fillets) and some scallops that I’m going to sear on the Sidekick! We are going to put it to the test today!
I wish mine worked :( Tried it for the first time yesterday and it wouldnt ignite. Got hold of Camp Chef and they told me to move the switch 1/4 in which I tried multiple times. So I have pretty much wasted a lot of money on the sidekick, grill box and pizza oven since they wont work. I can smell the gas but thats about it.
Do you hear the click on the igniter? If so, do you see a spark? If the answer to both questions are yes, then turn the knob so you hear gas flowing and hold it there for about 3-4 seconds then turn it so that the igniter sparks.
I have one and it was great for a little while but nothing but rusting all over including the bottom pan that's just disintegrating. Camp chef said i shouldn't have used it on high that's what caused it to fall apart. What a joke.

@Logan Ivan Yea, have been using Flixzone for months myself :D
What's better: Sidekick Flat Top or Sidekick Sear?
Andrew(Tim)Just watched for my install.SK arrives thurs. As usual your video of the install was more detailed and the best
Thanks Tim! I really appreciate the kind words!
I'm sure glad you figured out the leveling screws
Great install video. just what I needed!
That grill looks like a beast! Especially with that Sidekick!
It’s a TANK!
I got the grill a few weeks ago, it's so nice, now I want the sidekick.
I just seared some scallops on the sidekick and it was awesome!
Thanks for the video! helped get my install complete!
I have never made a UA-cam comment but I wanted to say this was very helpful. Keep it up!!
I really appreciate you reaching out Jim! Thanks for watching!
Great video! Made installation a snap for me. Thanks!
Glad I could help! Thanks for wathcing
What steps do you take to brawls in the new griddle/ seasoning it before use?
They come pre seasoned, but it did a light cleaning and seasoned it with some avocado
Oil
Thank you

No problem 👍
Thanks for this
Hey does the 24" patio cover still work with this installed?
That griddle is going to be awesome for cooking if it gets used, but I do like having shelf space for plates and other grilling implements.
I seared some scallops on it Friday and they turned out great! I will need to get that front shelf though
Anderson’s SmokeShow 🔥🔥🔥
They have a front shelf you can buy and install
I did get the front and bottom shelves knowing I was going to either get the sear box or side kick. I think I'll run with the side kick.
Sidekick is my choice 1000%
So, the leveling screws just go right up to the finished painted surface? It seems like that would scratch and create a point for corrosion to start?
I think that’s a valid concern. I personally haven’t had any issues with it, but my grill doesn’t see the weather.

The box and one of the Styrofoam side pieces is the exact height you need to install the Sidekick. I just did it today.
Good tip!
Excellent video, I can't wait until mine gets here! Can you convert the sidekick to natural gas?
I love my sidekick! I believe that camp chef has a natural gas attachment for it
Is there a cover that will fit the grill with that griddle installed? I was looking at my current cover and looks like it will not fit with the attachment installed.
Yup! The camp chef cover that is intended for your grill (24in, 30in, 36in) will also cover the sidekick
So with the leveling screws what I did is actually drill through the grill at those holes, install screws from inside grill, and use washers to accomplish leveling. Figured two more points of attachment to the grill would increase its ability to be stable while weight bearing.
Do you know if the sidekick can be mounted to a table instead the side of the grill? Does it put out too much heat towards the bottom?
I doubt that it’s supported as a table top unit.... Camp Chef does have tabletop units that are very similar though: bit.ly/3lqcH4Y
That’s a Versatop bundle, but there are other similar offerings as well.
This burner is hot as hell. I swear the flames are 8” tall. I wouldn’t want anything below it
Question. I bought the grill from Camp Chef. Is that griddle porcilen coated or plain steel? If you use the sear box where does the grease go?
It’s a cast iron griddle
Camp chef needs to sell an extension rod for the ash clean out for the grills with side kick and searing station. I love my searing burner, but almost never use the ash clean out after installing it. Side kick looks even wider than the searing station.
I didn’t even think about that.... it will make it more difficult to get to.
Anderson’s SmokeShow working on a mod for this. I’ll let you know what I’ve come up with when I finish

Typically you’ll want a little more gap for more spark
The sidekick makes the Camp Chef smoker a versatile rig! See if the sidekick has a side shelf attachment! lol
