Can't judge a bike on old and worn tires
Suspension set up, gearing and comfort
Then one can get a better feel for what the bike has to offer
I'll never sell mine, best looking, SMOOTHEST, great brakes, big trunk, power everywhere 👌🏽

Also low psi in the tires makes any sports bike handle like a lazy pig.. Hero admitted not checking the psi before doing this "review" which is disappointing. 954 is renound for its handling abilities

Absolutely... I checked it out and it has a 15T front sprocket. I ordered a 16T, for a bike as twitchy as a 954 I don't see the benefit to more aggressive gearing.

My 03 954rr is my favorite bike by far. I much prefer to ride it over my R6. Comfortable, fast af, buttery smooth. Surprised to hear that yours doesn't shift smoothy. My 954rr is like glass between the gears, barley loose any RPM and no studder. Compared to my R6 which to me is much more clunky and hard to rev match. I agree the throttle response on the 929 and 954 is so sensitive and snappy. My R6 has the electronic type throttle and the honda's feel far superior. I'll never sell my 954rr!

I've owned a 954 since 2007. I got to agree that it feels a bit clunky to shift. I noticed it and did some research to find that the bikes are kinda known for it. Also, I thought the bike ran almost too hot for the California heat. Then I read an article years ago, randomly, which was probably an advertisement, but anyway it was about how AMSOIL solved both of these issues for this guy with a 954. I just thought it was too much of a coincidence to not give it a try, and sure enough it helped with both the overheating and shifting. Now it's all I run!

Try the stock seat, it lowers your back as it should be. New soft tires like Bridgestone S22 Battlax or Diablo Rosso III will change everything on corners, and of course, some proper tuning on the front and rear suspensions will do wonders, like on my '00 model 929 RR. I would only sell my 929 for a 07 1100 XX Blackbird. Have a good ride bro, thx so much for this awesome video, the sound of a good 954 is music to my ears.

I recently got a 954 with 7000km on it. I spent a few hundred restoring it. So far I have ridden about 4 hrs on it. I put a new set of tyres on it, then the rear tyre immediately got punctured and I had to buy another. I have de-rusted the tank (it was stopping), rebuilt the fuel pump, cleaned the injectors, replaced the spark plugs, then replaced all the injector o-rings (because they then tore and leaked), unblocked all the vent hoses, was running again then the fan stopped working and the odo reset itself to ZERO. Took it to a bike restorer, the fan worked for them but then the speedo stopped and they said they had no clue how to fix the odo. I then noticed the new front tyre was leaking air too so new front tyre needed (I hadn't even ridden it anywhere on that tyre). I have no love left for it, it's cursed. It is worse than your one. I decided to will sell it. It wasn't meant to be.

New tires All fluids, radiator, battery, tires, Chain and sprockets, and changed the upper tripple to the LSL off raod/old man kit ( pretty much Dirt bike bars ). Made the bike fun to ride (not that it wasn't before) for me, as I own a 13 zx10r for the track I wanted something a bit different for the street and didnt want to pay 12k for a Tuono !

I actually added a Corbin seat to my honda cbr4i and the seat was crap ( stock) before the Corbin seat. I had more cushions added to my Corbin seat when I ordered my Corbin for the honda cbr4i. Another issue I had was heat coming from the side panels seat ( there is plastic there) which heated up my legs. I was glad to get rid of it because of the heat from the seat and uncomfortable riding because of the seat. If you look closely at picture one the Honda seat ( 954 and f4i 2000 model) the seat is more like a pan, and the Suzuki GSX-R has a more curved seat. I love the Suzuki GSX-R is more comfortable than the honda. Makes a difference, if I am hurting I don't want to ride and it takes the fun out of riding

I run Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires on my '02 954RR Fireblade and corrected tire pressures 34psi front and 36psi rear. I'd suggest if you haven't yet, to check your front and rear shock setting, I started by setting at the factory oem settings and go from there. You have preload, rebound & compression adjustments front and aft on the suspension. Best Regards mate.
PS: If it was me I'd change out that seat and give your hands and wrists a break. My stock factory seat does me fine, albeit 2 to 3 hours ride time is the high end of seat time for me mostly.

Two completely different bikes. I’d have to try them back to back but the RC definitely sounds a lot better. The 954 is much faster tho

You can download an app for your phone ( I have Speedbot ) but there are others and it gives you a GPS speedometer . You can then Mount the phone next to your speedometer and see how accurate your speedometer is . Mine was 10% faster so If it says 100 you know you're doing 90 .
