    Thanks for sharing this .. I’ve owned a 954 since 2004, beautiful bikes but I could never ride it anywhere near as quick as you… that lap must’ve felt great.. well done.

    Bloody hell! Nice riding! Gave me sweaty palms just watching that, and it also reminded me how i used to ride my Fireblade before i sold it in 2007, don't think i have the bottle to do it all over again Lol. Lovely bikes the 954, last ones to have Tadao Baba's input, definetly the one i'd choose when my mid-life crisis comes along! :)

    Thanks, the bike doesn't have a steering damper. Initially it was a real headshaker but i increased rear damping and reduced front rebound to address that problem. A steering damper just slows you down anyway ;-)

    Big credit, great lap - all the parts where I think you're going to lift because you're not on GT - you don't!!! Very very brave, I know it well in the virtual world but yet to get there on the bike (just downgraded from my 08 R1 to an 02 954 for this very reason). Have to say having had a 929 (also brilliant) before - a steering damper is a must to be doing what you're doing - all the same Mr Baba always said the bike didn't need one and you've demonstrated that - nice lap....!

      Well one, the RC51 is a V-Twin with good low-mid range torque/acceleration, and 2 the 954 is an Inline 4 revving until redline where most of the power is up top but liter bikes have good low down torque as well

  • @purklefluff
    @purklefluff 10 років тому

    fuelling seems a bit lumpy. is that the bumpy road surface giving that impression? or does the bike just splutter a bit at high revs?
    lovely cornering by the way. smooth and planted. bit choppy on the throttle =). practice makes perfect, and i can imagine the bumpy surface makes throttle control tricky.
    good lap!

    • @MrWillemdr
      @MrWillemdr  10 років тому +1

      fueling was off indeed, well noticed!! powercommander made a HUGE difference in the high revs, a lot smoother and way more powerful now. I was also struggling with throtlle control so i installed an activ short throttle. Way less hand travel and no more sore wrists. Went there 2 weeks ago but track opened later than expected and i was only able to ride two laps... my only satisfaction were these two pics imgur.com/a/43uI3 . next trip planned in July, Greetings!

    • @willemderooij886
      @willemderooij886 8 років тому

      +Mallydawg i changed the gearing indeed, so speed was off by 10%. Gearing is a good option, full exhaust system also of course, other than that, change the front and rear suspension for better tyre life. 6 laps and the rear tyre was gone on the nurburgring...

    • @MatiBP
      @MatiBP 8 років тому

      MrWillemdr I just like 929 look and i think it is better than 954 which like for me is ugly :P so like for first sportbike i think it would be good enough and if it wont i can always sell it and buy something else :)

  • @MrWillemdr
    @MrWillemdr  11 років тому

    hi, indeed it is pretty composed. you'll be surprised to hear that it's almost completely stock suspension. I only changed the front springs. standard they are 7.1kgs/mm; i changed to 9.5 kgs/mm. I also set the sag up correctly front and rear. Front compression, 0.25 turn open, front rebound 1.25 turns open. Rear completely stock and same settings as front. This gives you an extremely stable bike, but this setup will eat up the rear tire because of the limitations of the stock rear suspension
