He did a great job in Jethro Tull .
Wow! What an amazing solo! Very nice!
Doane is a legend...one of the most inventive, tasteful and imaginative drummers you'll ever see/hear. He was fantastically entertaining as Tull's longest-tenured drummer (along with Ian Anderson's solo stuff) and he's a really cool and interesting guy. BTW he's a great writer too.
Doane could play all of the Tull drum parts really well, while also adding his own "flavor" to them.
Interesting that he played the fastest parts with heel down, however he played some other parts with heel up, and also made swivel slides with his right foot.
Doane was superb with Tull. 27 years with them. Live, he was a killer. He’s a great, great drummer. Interestingly, he also happened to be one of the much-missed Neil Peart’s closest friends.
So true, they have got friendship with Terry Bozzio too.
I know nearly every titles of Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull. Always great drummers with the band. But I like Doane Perry - he's been the best.
Barriemore Barlow may have something to say about that, but for real Doane is an amazing drummer. There was another Jethro Tull drummer that gets little to no recognition because he wasn't with them very long and his name was Mark Craney, he was with Jethro Tull from 1980-1982, another amazing drummer.
Thank you
That snare sounds very Bonham. Amazing sound
Doane’s part that studly LA drummer scene... interesting story how he and Mark Craney (RIP) swapped seats between their Tull and Vanelli gigs....
Beyond his ginormous drumming skills Doane is a very kind unselfish caring human being.
One name for you, a blast literally from the past Dannie Richmond, my personal favorite of all time.
I saw Perry 5 or so times. Never disappointed.
Garey - please review Jon Hiseman’s solo in Colloseum’s “The Machine Demands a Sacrifice”.
I never heard of this guy, but this was so cool and tastefully done.
He is quite famous.
Don't like the drum machine
