  • In this review, it is all about pre-made rebuildable coils & how to choose the right one for you.
    Kanthal wire: is ferritic iron-chromium-aluminium alloy with good resistance to oxidation, and commonly used for vaping in straight wattage mode. It is extremely popular as a primary wire when building single-wire coils.
    Pros:Variable wattage. Easy to work with. Holds shape. Wide availability. Inexpensive. Not compatible with TC.
    Nichrome:A wire well suited for wattage & is an alloy composed of nickel and chromium, and may also contain other metals such as iron. Nichrome comes in a variety of “grades”, with ni80 (80% nickel and 20% chromium) being the most popular. Nichrome behaves very much like Kanthal, but has a lower resistance and heats faster. It is easy to coil and holds its shape well when wicking.
    Pros: Faster ramp than Kanthal. Easy to work. Holds shape.
    Cons: Nickel content.
    Stainless steel: SS is the most unique of the common vaping wires. It can pull double duty and be used for straight wattage vaping or temp control vaping. SS wire is an alloy composed primarily of chromium, nickel, and carbon, nickel content is usually around 10% or so, which is not that high, but people with allergies should not take the risk. For coil building, SS316L is by far the most commonly used grade, followed by SS317L. Other grades like 304 and 430 are also used sometimes.
    Pros: Does double duty: VW or TC (with compatible mod) Faster ramp time than Kanthal. Easy to work. Holds shape. Nickel content (low)
    Cons: Shouldn’t be dry burnt at high wattages.
    Nickel: Also referred to as ni200, is generally pure nickel. Nickel wire was the first wire used in temperature control, and is the first wire in this list that cannot be used in wattage mode.
    Pros: Does TC.
    Cons: Hard to form Doesn’t hold shape.Nickel content
    Titanium: The last wire we will look at is titanium, which is another TC-only wire, composed of pure titanium. There is some controversy surrounding the safety of titanium wire when used for vaping. Heating it can release a toxic component (titanium dioxide) above 1200 ℉ (648 ℃). Also, like magnesium, if titanium ignites it is extremely difficult to extinguish. Note that vapers still commonly use it, and theoretically if your TC mod is doing its job, you should never have to worry about combustion or titanium dioxide poisoning. It should go without saying, do not dry burn Ti wire!
    Pros: Does TC. Easy to work. Holds shape.
    Cons: Can be toxic. Fire risk. May be hard to find locally.
    What is a Clapton coil: A standard Clapton coil is a thinner gauge wire tightly wrapped around a thicker gauge core. Claptons have a slower ramp up time than round wire builds, but are considered more flavorful due to their increased texture and surface area.
    What is a fused Clapton coil: A fused Clapton is a thinner gauge wire wrapped around two or more thicker gauge cores. The multiple cores give FC's a faster ramp up time and arguably better flavor than non FC's , due to the increase in surface area. FC's come in an array of resistances for both MTL and DL vaping & are available in diameters and resistances for most modern build decks & generally have a faster ramp-up time than standard Claptons of the same resistance.
    What is a staggered fused Clapton: A staggered FC is a thinner gauge wire wrapped around a dual Clapton core. The Claptonized cores and staggered outer wrap create additional texture and surface area. This gives it a slower ramp-up time, but an edge in terms of flavor over the standard fused Clapton. SFC's come in low resistances for direct lung vaping.
    What is an Alien Clapton: Usually referred to as an alien, is a de-cored Clapton, wrapped around a multi-strand core. It is similar to a fused Clapton, except the outer wrap has a very distinct texture. Aliens have a slower ramp-up time than fused Claptons due to their larger surface area. Alien claptons come in low resistances for sub ohm vaping.
    What is a staple coil: A staple coil is a thinner gauge strand tightly wrapped around a stack of typically 8-10 flat ribbon wires. This variation of the fused Clapton has a quicker ramp-up time due to the stacked ribbon cores. The tiny grooves in between the wraps trap e-juice and contribute to its enhanced flavor. Staple coils come in low resistances for direct lung vaping. Staples have a quicker ramp-up time than fused Claptons of the same resistance.
    What is a framed staple coil: The framed staple is a cross between the staple and the fused clapton. It consists of stacked ribbon wire framed by round wire, fused together, or “Claptonized” by thinner round wire. The different cores create spaces within the wire which gives it better flavor than a standard staple and actually decrease ramp-up time. Framed staple coils are low in resistances for direct lung vaping. Framed staple coils have a quicker ramp up time than regular staple coils of the same resistance

    Thinner wire ramps up quicker, but requires less watts and so when less watts applied the ramp up is slower. In addition the wick has a cooling effect but struggles to cool thicker coils at higher watts and so when you have a thick wire build and are running the required extra watts to get any vape this year it does seem to ramp up quicker.
    One important thing is, using extreme thick wire coils is to give your wick a chance to cool as the wire it's self takes a longer time to cool.
    You are correct that mtl builds are for low watts and slow ramp up and that dtl builds are for high wattage quick ramp up, but the wire is actually working against you in both cases. The ohms and the wattage comes to the reacue however.

    for me I found SS316L 28guage 10 wraps spaced is still my go to with MTL builds, I had the perfect throat hit when I had my eXpromizer v4 on the Innokin Adept but when I swapped the Adpet with another mod (Cold Steel) the throat hit got less, tried multiple wattages including TC but still not close, if the Adept didn't have the issues it has I would stick to it but sadly for now I'm playing around with different coil builds hopefully I can find my sweet throat hit spot.

      @@netvaper apperantly the Adept is mainly made for the zlide/zennith tanks, so it would randomly start trying to detect the coil by itself, also because it has 2 types of settings (the 1ohm< and the >1ohm) if my build was let's say 0.9ohms after a couple of pulls it the ohmage number would change to above 1 ohm for example and that would turn off the mod for a second to detect the other wattages that come with the above 1ohm, so basically the mod would shut on and off on me randomly is what really made me go for a normal mod.

    Hello there!i was scroling through ure videos and i found this one.its a great video imo full of important notes for beginner vapers.me personal i use ka1 and ni80 for mtl.i found that in certain attys simple round wire a 26 awg works better than a complex coil.of course it subjective because some of us like a warm vapor some like a cooler vapor.but what i tend to use most is a simple 27 round wire.in my prime for me simple 26 or27 awg round wire work better than a fused mtl build,but on my old fev a fused mtl build was a must because the atty was a long one.i tend to find that a ka1 build gives me a better th than a ni80 wich has a mild th .but flavourwise if a attty is well made than u will have a great vape experience even with round wire.well i hope that i didnt bored other people with my opinions and i wish best and waitting for new videos from you

    I like this topic. There are lot of posibilities by playing around with your coils. I usually use Ni80 because just like you said, it has faster ramp up so I can take a shorter puff and still get nice flavor. From my experience, thin gauge wire tends to boost sweetness while thick gauge decreases it but creates bolder flavor. It applies with round wires and prebuilds.
    As for my favorite setup for now is Ni80 alien clapton with three 29 awg cores and 36 awg outer. Single coil, coil position a little above airhole, 0.39 ohm, playing at 40-43 watts. Mostly use DTL for creamy or creamy-fruity liquids.

      @@PrdnAditya my personal favourite is a 4 core clapton 4x 28g nichrome wrapped in 38g nichrome, normally comes out between .25 and .3 for me on a single coil depending how many wraps I use, and it's a really nice warm flavourful vape in my billet box. If dual coiling an RDA I usually use 3x 28g nichrome wrapped in 38g nichrome which comes out around .2 ish for my hexohm and usually use my twisted messes pro RDA, though I have loads of different rdas to choose from I just tend to use the twisted messes more, with the dead rabbit V2 and the nitrous RDA being close seconds, the nitrous is a truly great RDA for single coils especially.

    Great video as usual. Your channel is my go to when I need advice on vaping. I got a limitless plus RDTA which was a bargain at ten quid! When I start making my own coils, is plus ohm wire more geared to MTL? As my preference is DTL, BUT I think if anyone can answer this, you can. I am a big fan of NET liquids, so do you get a better flavor with MTL than DTL?

    • @netvaper
      @netvaper  Рік тому

      When it comes to NET’s the lower wattage allows you to taste the delicate nuances that where present in the tobacco leaf and transferred to the liquid during the process of extraction. High wattage DTL would deliver a general taste of tobacco but MTL on 14-18w delivers a cooler vape and you would taste the tobacco flavours much sharper & defined. but if you like it DTL that is no problem either. My suggestion try MTL on low wattage and decide which is better to your personal preference. For me personally it is Only MTL😊

And don't worry about the ohms so much, people always aim for 1 ohm because of habit but it's not necessary, it's just from the mechanical mod days when most people preferred 1 ohm at unregulated voltages, but personally I build my mtl builds for mechanicals around .8 and with a variable wattage device it really doesn't matter as you can change the settings to suit the coil whatever the ohms may be. For reference I mix my mtl juices at 22mg freebase nicotine and usually set my mods to around 18 watts with a 26g nichrome coil around .7-.8 ohm.

    • @netvaper
      @netvaper  2 роки тому

      @zavalas butt cheeks r blu. On a mech, resistance is your power setting, except in reverse. The higher the resistance (higher ohms) the Mech delivers lower power the lower the resistance (lower ohms) the mech will deliver more power. The lowest ohms recommended is 0.2 ohm. If you are asking on a 2.01 ohm coil that will be a thin wire (high resistance / low power) therefore the power will be low 8-10w & very cool vape with not much vapour, also thinner wire will heat faster but cool quicker with airflow. Finding the right balance between wire gauge, resistance and airflow is key. I personally never use on a mech a coil higher them 1.0 ohm and no lower then 2.0ohm. It is very important to follow battery safety.

    Can we use nichrome coil..?

    • @netvaper
      @netvaper  2 роки тому

      @Chongshen Chang. Yes of course Ni80 is most popular coils. Nichrome comes in a variety of “grades”, with Ni80 (80% nickel and 20% chromium) being the most popular. In brief, Nichrome behaves very much like Kanthal, but has lower resistance and heats faster. It is easy to coil (for DIY) and holds its shape well when wicking. Nichrome has a lower melting temperature than Kanthal, so you need to be careful when dry burning your coils-they will burn open if you aren’t careful. Start low and pulse the coils. Don’t rush into it and hit them with max wattage while dry. One other possible downside of nichrome wire is the nickel content. Folks with nickel allergies may want to avoid using nichrome for obvious reasons.

Tastes vile for about the first 40 hits so I now sit here pushing the fire button and wasting juice until that settles so I don’t have to taste it. Other than that it’s fine though. I didn’t react to the small amount of nickel in it. I have kept a little stash of titanium wire for in case I have a flare up of my regular symptoms which could make me more sensitive to that little bit of nickel, and if I’m buying anything from a vape shop I always check if they have titanium and if they do I grab it, but it is very nice to no longer be worried that I won’t be able to get what I need and to not keep coils in far too long in an effort to ration my wire. I will never try the higher nickel content wires though. I don’t care if they’re considered better vaping, I only do this to get my nicotine without smoking.
