Wow. The belief back then really was that rap would fade out, like disco. Peace to Mr. Magic, Marley Marl and Tyrone Williams, who has been forgotten. Cold Chillin is one of the most important labels in the history of rap.

Kraze, you are killing the game right now. Fly Ty dropping a lot of jewels about the times back then. Nevertheless the early labels are still legendary. Profile, Select, Sutra, Tommy Boy, Def Jam, Party Time, POP Art, Fever, Next Plateau, Jive, and of course Sugar Hill and Enjoy records. Those labels I just mentioned, like Ty said they really didn’t have the capital back then to pay those artists like Pumpkin Spyder d just to name a few should be compensated for their work and the millions those labels eventually made should be given to every last artist who made money for these labels. Dope interview, you definitely king of content

YO!! I'm glad you did this and I'm glad he's here and healthy to tell his story. I used to hear Fly Ty's name in Juice Crew shoutouts and Shante's verse - "I said why - why - why - TY - he said o - k you'll get - by. Always wanted to know who the hell he was. I knew he was the manager, but never seen or saw an interview with him. Biz, Big Daddy Kane would shout him out. Thanks for revealing the man, the myth. Sir Fly Ty..

Somebody Somewhere must have known that Rap was gonna evolve into the No Love in Hip Hop we got today. Too bad they couldn't stop it before it turned from motivating, educating, celebrating your history, respect for yourself, others and the game. Now they just whinin, shinin, lyin and tryin to perpetrate the worst things thought of. Nowadays "rappers" are just Lost, don't even know what life is..... sad. It shoulda ended quick like Disco and left its mark instead of deteriorating slowly over time.

WOW WOW MUTHA-FUCKIN WOW! I’M IN TEARS! Hearing how MAGIC WALKED OUT ON RADIO FOR HIP HOP! And how the ROXANNE ROXANNE record by UTFO came to be THE HOTTEST SHIT TO HIT RADIO BACK IN 1983 or when ever it came out. (speaking of The Fat Boys and UTFO; after seeing them in a show together in Cleveland, I went home and wrote my first ever Demo Tape songs). THIS IS GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT, I CAN’T SAY IT ENOUGH! GREAT!
Then, how Roxanne’s Revenge came to be. OH GOD!
Talkin bout “LG” Lawrence Goodman, Quron of Da Youngsta’s father; responsible for the careers of Steady B, EST; man, I used to devour Executive Producer and Producer Credits on back of albums and tapes. I LIVED AND BREATHED THIS SHIT! I remember when I was in 10th grade trying to get somebody from Ohio to take me to NY to Wild Pitch Records or to Lawrence Goodman in Philly. You know if I could meet and take pictures with all of the names I know in HIP HOP, IT WOULD BE MY ULTIMATE LIFE HAPPINESS MOMENT! I wouldn’t need another thing in life. To meet Stu Fines, Corey Robbins, Lawrence Goodman, AnDré Harrell, Russell Simmons, Fly Tye, Mr. Magic (R.I.P) Marley Marl, Hurby Luv Bug, Nate Robinson of First Priority; i could go on and on. I wanted to be in the industry so bad, I figured it would help to know who the Executive Producers and Producers were; THEY PUT UP THE MONEY AND MADE THE BEATS RESPECTIVELY FOR THE RECORDS!
