He strikes again! WARNING! Listening to Doug Beaumier’s steel guitar music can be hazardous to your ability to get other things done in your life for which time is required!
Beautifully played Doug. I love how you play with mainly single string. It's such a lovely clean sound. And I love that battered Fender you play. Looks like it's been around for a while.
Thanks John! Yes, I play a lot of single string(s) melodies nowadays. That style seems to get right to the heart of the song. Yeah, this 1967 Fender has seen a lot of smoky bars back in the day. Every beer stain and cigarette burn tells a story. 😊
I particularly love this one being of scottish heritage. It is actually "the GAEL" meaning the "people of Highland Scotland". As usual, you bless us with your talent and works. MAGNIFICENT! However, it is so hard to pick favorites - your repertoire is always superior. THANKS.
I'm in Bonnie Scotland and it is 02.20am .. I've been listening to you play for the last hour.. brilliant! Sleep after this one.. thanks Doug for the nightcap 👍
GOD’S blessings for you Honey, you are a delight!! I’m almost 100 years and your music enlivens me!! May The Lord ✝️GOD Bless you and your precious Family❤️💕
WOW. Once again you have proven you are one of the best steel guitar players around. Loved it. It's great to see you again. Keep the playing coming, please.
Loved it. Superb playing and a great atmosphere created. I always look forward to your next offering and I was delighted when I saw this appear on my screen !
This is hauntingly beautiful this was the first song I learned to play with both of my hands on my piano so many happy memories ( I started playing the piano at the age of 16 back in 2011)
my poppa passed just under 2 years ago now and was an intensely good steel/dobro slide player. Last of the Mohicans is one of my mothers favorite tunes. so to have the 2 come together is both awesome and hard for the both of us to listen to. it didn't die with him though since he willed his dobro (unofficially) to me, so now i (lightly) keep it going for him.
Thanks, I appreciate that. I focus on the melody because that's what most listeners relate to. I do like improvisation as well, and I play improv sections in some of my videos. Thanks for listening! 😎
Listening to this song I vividly recall the movie & relive the drama... the savagery of a time in the mid 1700's when France and Great Britain battled for control of North America. It points out what I have experienced myself of the huge differences between British & French culture & their approach to colonization...even today! Yes this big bold melody & military drum beat is beautiful & telling, even frightening & so well adapted to the drama that unfolded in the movie! Absolutely magnificent sound! Thank you Doug!
As always Doug Beaumier does it again. None finer than this genius; when it comes to the Steel Guitar. Thank you Doug again and again, for sharing your innate incredible musical talents with us. Love it.
Love your playing my father use to play Could You Play me On Video Charlie Prides Green Green Grass of Home.Ty for sharing your gift with us .Bless You
Doug, please consider putting some of these songs on Spotify. I don’t know if you’ve given it any thought before, but it would be amazing to make a playlist of your songs on there. You have a talent for the steel guitar like no other!
Thanks! I'm glad you like the delay. I use a touch of delay often in my recordings, and for this one I really laid it on thick! Like you said, it broadens the sound and it works especially well for this tune. Thanks again 😎
I have been waiting for you to do this one. Of all the musicians i love to hear, you are the only one i'd walk across the street to get an autograph. Hope i get the opportunity some time. Thank you Doug!
This song really adapts well to the steel. And you always have a great rendition... often better than the original production. The melody is such a great throw back to much earlier tunes such as Golden Earrings, with similar intonations when performed on the steel. Thanks, Gordon
@@dougsteel This tune is very similar to 'The Enchanted Sea', that you have done in the past. I really like that tune allot. The way you play it takes me to a different place. And so does this one... You play them both on the same Fender steel that has that perfect sound and intonation... so iconic! It's like a time machine that takes you back in time. Gordon

HaHa! I like that. 😁👍😎
He's come a long way since playing with LEE HOWELL & THE MAVERICKS..playing at LYNN'S in Chicopee, MA. In the late 70's.
Wow Dave! You're reaching way back! 😊
@@dougsteel old guys usually do...what became of Mark Erlich?
@@davehealey2118 I think he quit playing, got married and moved away. I haven’t seen any of those guys in years.
One of fav movie themes ever. Who wouldve thunk on a steel? Doug always does it justice.
Glad you like it 😎
..finally another amazing musical composition.👏🤓
I enjoyed listening several times. 😉👌
Thanks for listening! 😎
The choice of notes, the force with which they are plucked, the timing of EVERY. SINGLE. NOTE. perfect! Some sort of magic involved here.
Thanks! 😎
My favorite lap steel player. Thanks Doug.
Thanks for watching, Martin!
You're the best, and that tone is to die for.
Thank Charles! Much appreciated.
I love the way you can make those old guitars come alive and sing again.
Thanks! I love the old guitars. 😊
Beautifully played Doug. I love how you play with mainly single string. It's such a lovely clean sound. And I love that battered Fender you play. Looks like it's been around for a while.

That song has some real heart to it. Well played.
Many thanks! I appreciate it. 😊
This tune really conveys the sadness in this song. Hitting the emotional side of history moving on! ❤
Absolutely LOVE the on-beat delay. Gives it an ethereal character.
Thanks! Yeah, I use delay a lot on slow-medium tempo songs to create an ambient, spacial effect.
The butter man himself, well done steeler…..Smooth as butter……
Aww... Thanks Daryl! The butter man... I like that. 😆
This sounds as smooth as butter and as sweet as honey!
@@joycejames8461 and it goes down like a fine wine…..
