Doug, you did such a great job on that old Hank Williams song, I had to go out and buy me a lap guitar. Then I needed an amplifier, bar, cord and picks. I'm 90 now. And I can no more play my SG's and PSG's. For I just can't hit the right strings any more.
So listening to you; brings me joy unimaginable now. And I never want to stop listening to your incredible renditions; to my last breath! Listening to "our" Doug. That is Extraordinaire"; to the Nth degree. AMEN!
Thank you dear friend. And I am putting my "Rickenbacher" (pre-war) Bakelite, 7 string Steel Guitar; in my Will to you. And my caregiver will send you that...
IF she asks you your address. It will be yours; and we will pay the shipping costs. For I know of NO other SG player; that would deserve that classical instrument more, like you.
Because Jerry Byrd always said; "It had the best sound he had ever heard". And he never stopped recording on his 6 and 7 string Bakelite's; until he drew his last breath. Although he did play other makes of the steel guitar; but he never touched a pedal steel guitar. Because he felt his fans would be hurt; if he went to Pedals.
End of story.
@@MrPatdeeee Wow, I would be honored by that, Pat. I know that Jerry loved the Rick Model B sound, and especially the 7-string version. His diatonic tuning was 7 strings, and he said that 7 strings were necessary for that tuning.
@@dougsteel Well my "caretaker" and I got to thinking: "I can't play it any more. So why don't we ship it tomorrow to your home!". And that would please to me. And I pray that I live long enough to hear "our" Doug Doug Beaumier; plays my favorite SG in history; and I can hear a genius tickle those 7 strings. And even Jerry Byrd will be happy as He could be! May Jesus rests his precious Soul.
But I know OF no way; of your giving me your address; on UA-cam. So I am going to send you a private PM on the SGF. So you can tell me your address. Where my name is c. Dixon!
Remember it's 85 yrs old. And bakelite is very fragile. And know this; Bakelite is VERY temperature sensitive; to changes the length of the strings. Which was the ONLY thing JD's hated. But the sound overrode that quagmire; with a sound NO other SG has ever had! As he said.
And may Jesus cause blesses you to play that "classic" to the "4 corners of the world.". And we can't wait!
@@MrPatdeeeeAh Carl !! I remember you well from the steel guitar forum. I believe you used to put on steel shows in the Atlanta area? I would often read your posts, and I learned a lot about lap steel guitars from you. I just sent you a PM via the Steel Guitar Forum. I must say, I am overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity. It renews my faith in the goodness in the world.
Me and this fellow would get along fine I've been singing Hank Williams since I was 14, I used to imitate Hank on stage., Great music!

Sounds good to me! 😊👍
Wonderful surprise!! Kept me toe-tapping the whole time.....if I had the energy I would be dancing!! As usual I listened to it more than once. Trust me, we love you twice as much as you love us!!! Hello from Canada.
Wow, thank you!
Sounds very beautiful! Which amp are you using?
I'm playing through a Quilter Tone Block 202, recording direct.
Gostaria que se fosse possivel me mandasse essa afinação. Thank

What a great talent you have, I really enjoy listening to your improvisations, wonderful sound, the variations you put into a tune make it so much more interesting and special.
Thank you so much! 😎
I play a lap steel also. I am curious
What open tuning you use. I know there are several. I have been using an open a.Keep up the good music
The tuning I'm using for this song is listed in the video description.
You were playing stuff I've never noticed before. Thanks Doug! Cousin Herb sure would like that!!!
Thanks! Yeah, I played more improv in this one than I usually do. Glad you like it.
I just love the sound! I wonder what the tuning is?
The tuning is listed in the description.
@@dougsteel Thanks, I didn't look at the description, just saw the guitar and listened.
Cheers!
@@PaulHere1953 I'm glad you like the video. 😎
Dang, I love that sound. Beautiful 😍
Thanks! 😊
As I watch and listen to this, my wife has (again) threatened to divorce me because I "listen to that steel guitar guy way too much and pay less attention to me (her) as a result". Oh well, I was doing just fine before I met her. 😂
😂 Love it!
Train your ear to defrenciate between gossip, BS, and the grocery list and pertinent info. You get THAT down, you'll be a wise old man that doesn't need regular trips to the shrink😜
Grab her and dance away!
Tell her learn the steel guitar!
Divorce is sure if she happens to read your comment especially the last sentence 😂😂
I always enjoy listening to music as you play it. It was good music before you got it, but you just make it better!
Happy to hear that!
👏👏👏👏👏👏
😊😊🙏🏻👍
You're such a great player! All your vintage guitars and amps. I have a preCBS Fender twin that I've had since 6 grade. Most of the songs you play I have played on guitar as a kid, I love it!
Glad to hear that you still have some gear from your childhood. I'm sure there are some great memories there! Thanks for watching my videos. 😎
Dude, your mother brought you home from the hospital in a guitar case.
HaHa! I love that 😊😊
That was so nice to listen to. Thanks for sharing your skills and talent.
Glad you enjoyed it!

There are many paths in the music world but the steel guitar is mostly very joyful. It lights up my life a lot ! It is happy music and i love it!
I like your way of thinking, Karen! I agree 100% 😁🎅🎄❄️⛄️🎉
❤❤so cool love it always🎸
Glad you like it! 👍
The tone from that instrument is amazing. Thanks once again, Doug!!
Thank you too, Chuck 😎
That song brings back a lot of good memories. Thanks Doug ! I wish I could play like that. It has a great sound.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😎
Impressive , beautifully played and well worth listening to. From the South Pacific
Wow! Thanks for listening, Lyle.
You should see the smile on every notes face! Doug, that was outstanding!
Thanks! I’m glad you dig it. 😎👍
I'm always delighted to see something new from you, you never disappointed. Good to hear some classic Hank Williams in your own wonderful style.
Thank you, Joyce!
Love it your playing through a quilter also! My favorite amp is a Quilter 101 reverb 50 W amp. It's amazing how clean and nice the Reverb is on it for lap steel and jazz guitar.
Yes, the 101 is a great amp. A lot of players love that amp.
Doug, you did such a great job on that old Hank Williams song, I had to go out and buy me a lap guitar. Then I needed an amplifier, bar, cord and picks. I really had a hard time tuning the guitar, but it dawned on me that we have a piano in the Livingroom
. That made it so easy. I put your song in my number one favorites. Thank you so much.
Wow, thanks! Enjoy your lap steel guitar.
Wonderful playing!. Thanks Doug.
Many thanks!
Absolutely Beautiful!! Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
Totally joyful. Another fantastic performance, Doug!
Thanks! 😊😊
I am so happy after listening to you play. Thank you for bringing me back at times when I just need to hear sanity.
Glad you enjoy it!
