What confuses me is the umbrella seal in the accelerator pump. You just remove the little umbrella and reassemble without it? Curious what this accomplishes. Seems like most people skip this step
I just re-watched it and it shows an umbrella seal in there during reassembly. This is one of my most watched videos and I hope it's been helpful for someone. I'm actually in the process of replacing mine with a Holley Sniper EFI. I got it to work okay but the carb I started with had a cracked base and I never got it the air/fuel ratio good in all areas at the same time. I'd have a good idle and a rich cruise or the lean up top or any combination of the 3. I hope to have some videos of the Sniper up before to long.
Id like to discuss this ,this was all very good information back in the early 90s and 2000s but now that boost referenced power valves have flooded the market its made this guide pretty much obsolete plus a PV works off of vacuum once you add boost itll push it shut and you'll starve the engine under boost which means you'll have to richen it up at the top but it'll be rich everywhere else as well anyways I was able to do it with just Vent tube extensions A Boost referenced power valve Larger pvcr larger idle feed restrictiors on the secondarie metering block Nyrtrofil floats And making the secondaries throttle blades open earlier in relation to the primaries what this did was it allowed the secondaries to provide the extra fuel earlier due to the lack of a vacuum power valve this trick I believe was discovered by nightwrencher here on UA-cam All this and the car ran very well on the streeet it was lean on cruise but at wot it allways gave me that crisp 11.6 afr every time Most people ive seen try to do it the (old) way usually end up opting for efi i hope people try it the newer way so that carburators can still be mainstream and a more affordable option
I agree. The boost reference power valve is a game changer for sure. I never could get mine to tune, but I'm sure it was a lack of experience on my part. I could either have a perfect idle and cruise and lose WOT or good cruise and wide open and a crappy idle. Or good idle and WOT and a bad cruise mixture. I could never get all three, and I wasn't really chasing horsepower. I just wanted it to run consistent. I ended up getting a Holley Sniper.
@@Glen_Patti_H ahh I'm sorry to hear that I'm sure you have more experience with carbs than I do but I had pretty good luck and I was daily driving mine it would cruise lean and always hit 11.6 at wot I hope one day you'll try it again with success either way I hope that efi is working well for you
I knew posting it that it wasn't going to get a lot of views but over time it could help a few people out. Thanks for the full view... Pretty sure you were the only one so far... LoL
You are not really friends if you are hacking their accounts... why you all even do this on way past comment sections that see few views ? It makes no sense.
Need to make carb vent tube extensions.
I was considering that. I had seen it done. Thanks.
Thanks for this man. Just about to do this.
I'm still in the tuning stage. I need to get a wideband a/f gauge to really dial it in but it gave me a good place to start.

This is awesome ty
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wasn't sure when I posted it how it would be received.

I was able to do it with just
Vent tube extensions
A Boost referenced power valve
Larger pvcr larger idle feed restrictiors on the secondarie metering block
Nyrtrofil floats
And making the secondaries throttle blades open earlier in relation to the primaries what this did was it allowed the secondaries to provide the extra fuel earlier due to the lack of a vacuum power valve this trick I believe was discovered by nightwrencher here on UA-cam
