Another great video! Thanks Jason & Jonie. It's been about 35 years since I have done one of these but now I remember it all. Ready to get her done on my recently named 75' John Deere Bronco. Planning on assembling my engine this weekend. I'll shoot you a pic when I get it together.
I think its funny how many ring & pinion snobs can be out there.....That’s the same way I was taught as well. Nice video.....I did my rear end last month. Took about 6 back and forth to get it where I was satisfied. Always love videos....good news on my project was my 5 speed arrived yesterday from Wild Horses. Really pumped up about installing it and checking that one off the list. Keep the videos coming.
Thanks David. Honestly I almost did not post it. You are right there are lots of opinions about this subject and I am no expert. I have set up many gears with great results but like you said it does take patience. We appreciate you watching!
Darin I am sorry but I don't. Whatever you use it just needs to be straight. When you are measuring depth make sure you account for the thickness. Thanks for watching.
Jason I have watched this video a number of times trying to be more confident in doing my own Dana 30 and 9” for my 71. I think I am there now thanks to you and Joni’s great camera work. I am trying to gather the right tools. I found a magnetic base gauge but it seems pretty cheap at $50. Does that seem right? Also, I don’t have a press, can I get by carefully tapping them into place? Thanks again for your work to help out a new builder.
Thank Kevin! The Dana rebuild was not too bad. The biggest thing was getting it clean and having all the parts available. As far as tools, the dial with magnetic base will probably be fine. It might not last forever but should serve you fine. The press sure makes it nice removing bearing and reinstalling them. I did a lot over the years without a press but I can tell you since I got one it would be hard to go back to doing without. Don't forget a cheap pair of snap ring pliers that was the toughest part to me. Contact me anytime if I can help. Good luck
will you make a video on putting together the spindles, axle u-joints, brakes, etc anytime soon? that is where i am now in my '68 build and i haven't put it back together yet. thx for these videos.
Joe, I can do that this weekend if it would help you. I had planned to paint the housing first but will assemble it if it would help you out. I am using a disc brake conversion from Tom's Bronco. What brakes are you using?
@@JasonJonieBuilds holy cow - i didn't paint my axle yet either - that's my next task! i am trying to clean, de-rust and paint where the coil springs and shocks mount, then re-install the painted axle. maybe if u simply go in the order you were thinking i can be a few days behind you. so u don't change your pre-defined order. i was thinking of keeping the oem drum brakes but maybe after i see your disk conversion i'll make my decision then.
Joe, I am hear to to help. That is why I started the channel. It is fun to meet people with like interest. I will see where I am at tomorrow in the shop. I will keep you posted. Thanks!
Joe, we did a video installing u joints and dry fitting the disc brake conversion this weekend for ya. It will go up probably Tuesday morning . Hope it helps ya even though it's not drum brakes.

Ken that sounds awesome. You are going to have a one of a kind Bronco there for sure.

Do you have any measurements from the machined piece of steel you used at 12:15? If not that’s fine, thanks.

Your mumbling at 26:45 had me rolling! 😂 I’ve been there! Haha
