Dinesh, do you mean to say that to keep the tradition means one should not learn the Word of God, repeat and memorize it? Then can you explain to me the meaning of Joshua chapter 1 verse 8 : do not allow the Word of God depart from your mouth, meditate it day and night so that you will be careful to do everything that is written in it and so that you will be prosperous and successful.
Before criticising bro.mario Joseph and his preaching check who gave you authority to criticize and what degree you hold in the cotholic tradition and faith. Stop confusing people for God's sake.

Sit with Him in the chapel.And dont be naive to think Christ's body is only the catholic church. It is every true Christian loving, obeying and serving god. Not a denomination.

Thousands of people are getting healed and touched by his preaching. Their prayers are answered. I think its their faith and trust in God. So why the negative comments about Brother Mario?

The Word "Prosperity" is so much more & not limited to our petty thinking but the Greatness & Grace of our Lord to make us prosper in every area of our lives. Be it health, wealth, relationships, marriages, spiritual gifts......

Why should it be in the Catechism ?
Because that's the official document of all catholic teachings and sacraments. It was introduced to know more about the catholic faith ... Or do you have any other official documents from the Catholic church explaining prosperity gospel... Else it will go round in circles with each one's interpretation

I think the issue in explaining the problem with this is that there are nuances involved that can hardly be articulated well. Here's a thought experiment. You would probably grant that Protestant preachers like Joel Osteen, creflo dollar, Joyce Meyer and others but could you explain why and why that isn't the same as some of the charismatic preachers are implying as well ?
There are several problems with this advice but foremost is the following. I'll try to explain as much as I can:
Quadriga(The four senses of the scripture) is the traditional way of reading the Bible. There is a hierarchy to this. St. Thomas citing St. Gregory the Great on the phenomenon of multiple senses: "Holy Writ by the manner of its speech transcends every science, because in one and the same sentence, while it describes a fact, it reveals a mystery"
The CCC cites a medieval couplet which summarizes the four senses: Lettera gesta docet, quid credas allegoria, moralis quid agas, quo tendas anagogia. (The Letter speaks of deeds; Allegory to faith; the Moral how to act; Anagogy our destiny)
I.e.
A. The literal sense: Is the plainest sense
B. Allegorical sense: "so far as things of the old law signify the things of the New Law" (Aquinas)
C. The Moral or Topological sense is like the one Prophet Nathan's narrative to King David regarding the latter's crime of murder and adultery
D. Anagogical sense: "as they signify what relates to eternal glory"
The advantages to the study of the quadriga, as this classical fourfold interpretation is called, are manifold. First, it is traditional. St. Thomas and other scholastics, along with such later scholars of renown as Cornelius A Lapide used it all the time. Its use by such approved authors makes it safe. Second, it reconciles what is the best from schools which were often at variance. In the patristic era, Antioch and Alexandria were often at each others’ throats. The Antiochene authors specialized in the literal sense, often to the deprecation of the other senses, whereas the Alexandrian authors could advance spiritual meanings at the expense of the literal. In reconciling the two the way St. Thomas did, we get the best of both worlds. More than this, studying Scripture according to the quadriga keeps the text living for us, preventing it from dying on the dissecting tables of historical critical scholars who see the sacred page as something to parse, reconstruct, cross reference with pagan fables, check for errors, and otherwise cut up as an historical cadaver. Which is the same risk we run with these preachers.
The fourfold interpretation helps us draw out dogmatic, moral, ascetical, and mystical theology directly from the inspired text, using the analogy of faith, instead of isolating the Scriptures as the subject of a specialty distinct from the rest of theology and Christian life. After all, it was written that we might believe in Jesus Christ “and that believing, [we] may have life in his name.”
As you can see, the Scriptures are meant to remove ourselves from within us and plant us deeply rooted in Christ. This is also what lection divina and the monk Guigo envisioned in his ladder of prayer while meditating on Gen 28(the passage on Jacob's Ladder).
Now contrast that with the recitations meant here. This bypasses the self examination the word of God offers us a lamp unto my feet to which we are called there in and uses the scripture to read into them our will for God. How is this different from the modernistic documentary hypothesis and textual criticisms of today. Turning the supernatural into the natural rather than the contrary.
This is why several examples of Rosary cited as a refutation for Joseph's argument does not work. Rosary uproots us from our present situation and places us within the mysteries through the scripture within the light of the life of Christ. It's not a mere recitation. Well, but can one blame them for suggesting this ?
Because that's merely what it is they are doing. Except a few, perhaps. It leaves you where you are and rather entitled.
And note here, I have only talked about the recitation part of the prosperity Gospel. There is much that could be said about the rest of the details.
He is not a catholic
Besides the false hope, the idea that one can claim prosperity for oneself immediately breaks down all of the happenstances in our life into subjective Blessings and bondages viewed from the lens of material prosperity. Either you feel entitled about the blessing or shake off the unwanted spirits with incantations. How would Our Blessed Lord, as Bp Barron said, meet people today with the words he opened his Public Ministry in the Gospel of Mathew("Do penance, for the Kingdom of God is at hand")?
The Catholic understanding of temporal punishment, redemptive suffering(“This may be a wicked age but your lives should redeem it”- Eph. 5:16), supplications are lost in the afore mentioned false bifurcation. In short, how would one follow Christ, if he can't identify his cross. Much less take up his cross ?

This whole thing about "just claiming" clearly stems from the protestant idea of 'faith alone' or 'faith without works'.
'Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him' - Jn 13:16
Bishop Barron also says “The deepest reason for Job’s suffering, we learn, is lost in the infinite abyss of God’s permissive will and is by no means easily correlatable to Job’s virtue or lack thereof.”
In his apostolic exhortation Gaudete et Exsultate Pope Francis wrote that there are Christians who are committed to following the path of “justification by their own efforts, the worship of the human will and their own abilities. The result is a self-centered and elitist complacency, bereft of true love. This finds expression in a variety of apparently unconnected ways of thinking and acting,” among them “an excessive concern with programs of self-help and personal fulfillment”
The following verses have no scope in the books of those embracing "prosperity gospel":
“indeed, as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so, through Christ, does our consolation overflow. When we are made to suffer, it is for our consolation and salvation” - 2 Cor. 1:5, 6
“to suffer for you, as I am suffering now, and in my own body to do what I can to make up all that has still to be undergone by Christ for the sake of His Body, the Church” -Col. 1:24
“I have my own hardships to bear, even to being chained like a criminal - but they cannot chain up God’s news. So I bear it all for the sake of those who are chosen, so that in the end they may have the salvation that is in Christ Jesus and the eternal glory that comes with it” - 2 Tim. 2:9-10
“Never lose confidence because of the trials that I go through on your account; they are your glory” - Eph. 3:13
The Church has never taught the earthly or worldly prosperity is desirable. In fact, the opposite is true. We must seek detachment from the worldly/material things. "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? "
"Blessed are the poor..."
"You cannot serve money(mammon) and God..."
The three evangelical counsels are POVERTY, chastity and obedience.
This prosperity gospel is clearly NOT Catholic.
Brother instead of going public on topics we don't understand , why don't you take it to the hierarchy and get resolution from the Church hierarchy . Cardinals and bishops are there to pray and initiate action . God bless us all .

I think it is important that we note that Joseph has not only been attacking errors on the right but also the ones on the left. Perhaps, its harder for him to do the latter. Losing a number of his followers because this is prominent rather in charismatic circles. That brings me to my point(and probably Joseph is getting there, eventually): Isn't this the case with charismatic spirituality as a whole ?
Here, let me make my case for it. Charismatics agree that is it a novel movement. They validate this novelty by saying that this is rather a "new pentecost(if you don't belive me, listen to some of the songs from Abhishekagni, fr. Dominics retreats)" as if 'The Pentecost' was inefficient or not sufficient. They belive this is the age of the Holy spirit. The last time this was brought up, was by a friar named joachim of fiore and he was condemned for this and other errors. He believed we will no longer need a hierarchy in the church during the age of the holy spirit. The holy spirit will directly guide the people and hence dismissed the hierarchy or any authority for that matter.
Now consider the following activities common in any charismatic retreats:
Baptism of the Holy Spirit as a more effective confirmation, laying of hands by laity sometimes even on clergy, counselling as opposed to discernment of spirits or spiritual exercises, charismatas that were originally gratia gratis data(grace freely given) are now those that can be freely claimed. Hence, Joseph's critique of tongues.
Now, one might say the charismatic spirituality is besides this. I would then ask what besides this is charismatic spirituality ? Quote your sources.
Antone who has written books on charismatic movement(mary healy for example) will proudly admit that the movement was born in duqesne university by laying if hands by protestant preachers. That this Spirit was imparted during that specific time. This is an implicit admission of the ineffectiveness of 'The Pentecost' and therefor its rejection.
Now, before someone claims that I am a rad trad, let me also introduce to you a similar error on the right. Sspx and other independent churches claim that the church was not able to preserve the liturgy and tradition and so, they will now preserve it. The church is somehow lacking in the efficacy of the Holy Ghost in its sacraments. Even calling the NO harmfuk and dangerous(sspx for example).
Now both the parties mentioned above maintain outwardly that the church is indefectible but dare walk right out of it to supply for it, in its stead.
Take any classical catholic books on the topic of antichrist anf they will all in one accord tell you the way we prepare the way of antichrist and the great apsotasy is through schism.
And so I ask again: if I have strawmanned charismatic/pentecostal spirituality is, then give me what it is substantially besides that ?
P.s: Meanwhile I dont deny the high fertility rates and possibly other good things that happen within as much as I won't deny those happening in Medjugorge or Garibandal or pentecostal churches or in Muslim communities
