What is the MAJOR change for the 2020 Acura NSX?

- The 2020 NSX is still a show stopper, and still running that hybrid power setup. The 3.5L twin-turbo V6 & electric motors pump out 573 HP & routed through a 9-speed automatic transmission. It's exterior has been tweaked along with a few other changes. In the review I also get to compare it to a first gen Acura NSX race car. Let me take you around and show you the MAJOR change for the 2020 Acura NSX!

Bringing back the NSX was a good look, but I almost feel like if they would have done it 5 years sooner it would be doing way better. Still an amazing car and just another sign that we're living in the golden age of performance cars

inside and out, lust like back in the early 90's when they took some styling cues, like the blacked out roof on red.
And Chevrolet was able to build it for $100,000 less. This is NOT a $160,000+ car. No wonder they only sold 170 of them in 2018.
In 2 years they won't even be making these anymore.
This car is a collectible item. A certain buyer will understand and appreciate what its really worth. This will long hold it value and reputation with reliability than a corvette. If you dont understand whats it worth and its history, then say no more!

The brand was launched in the United States and Canada on 27 March 1986, with the 4 door sedan and 2 door Legend Coupe, and integra 3 door hatchback.
They were way ahead of their time, the NSX came in 1990.
All were available with manuals, and the manual take was very high.

@joseph sudler, sr. _ Good decision. 20 years from now they will talk about this car as if it was the revolution of the hybrid super car segment. They did the same thing for the first one. When it was around, they couldn't get enough of bad mouthing it. Now they adore it. This one will be the same, because it already proved itself to satisfy the purpose it was built for better any European junk hybrid super cars..

That's one thing that really got my attention on this model. I detest chrome on any modern sports car, it belongs on an old American classic muscle machine.
Yeah just like the new 10th gen civics. Got rid of that ugly chrome and blacked it out.

The new NSX is dooope. When I first saw it I was like, meh. It looked like every other mid engine car! It didn’t have the original looking design like the first NSX. However, it’s grown on me a lot since then.
The price is high. But you get the performance of a super car at the same price point. 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, etc! Honda has been doing the hybrid drive train for a while, so you know the hybrid drive is not just a gimmick either. If the price were low, it would be a POS. It’d be like a C8. How the hell do you expect a car worth half of an NSX to function like a super car. If that were feasible everybody would be doing it!
I love the fact that it was designed in the US and also made in the US. A truly international effort. People complain that the reliability won’t be there, but that’s BS. It’s going to be miles ahead in terms of reliability to a Porsche or McLaren, which is notorious for being a POS. The MP4 looked fantastic, but it was a disaster.
It’s a shame that they’re not selling. Boo hoo. 😢

Good vid, Joe. Not usually a fan of yellow cars, but it works on the NSX. I'm probably not the first to mention the obvious desire to see a future comparison/test drive against the 2020 Corvette.

One thing I will zonk (to use your trademark term) is the $1,200 for the carpeted floor mats... I mean, come on, Acura... $1,200 for two mats? They should be included as standard equipment. Yet hey, if I can lay-down the $180K... what's another $1,200, right?
This is one of the reasons I cannot buy this car. They need to be reasonable.

the weakest link was the interior and the price.
if they can get a fully loaded one for under 150k it would be a steal.
this is a more affordable p1, 918, la ferrari.
Wish Honda had made an NA V8 and stuck it in this with an optional 6 speed.

This looks better than the Corvette and I like the Corvette. When my brother and I were kids we’d dream about owning an NSX. When my brother flies into town we’ll test drive an NSX. Over the years he’s been my wing man when I buy cars.

Raiti's Rides with the similarities, etc. It would be really cool to hear your input on what you get for the Money. American, Asian, European... If somehow since we all can see that the tech that can make it possible to “afford” an Awesome sports car, C8/Mustang Multi Models, Challenger/Chargers, etc. that it can be Done, wouldn’t it be Great if some of the Best and most expensive Sport car companies could maybe creat a few Models that could be reached for by us mortals as well! $60,000 to $100,000 and competitive! For the record CF brakes on street the only advantage is less brake dust and last longer. You will not stop better or steer better as mentioned?
They are lighter so less rotating mass and they do stop you shorter.

Nicolas Mikah, the NSX debuted at the '89 Chicago auto show technically as a prototype. It formally was released in 1990 for the '91 model year.

the nsx seats look like those they use in a mdx, at least use some civic type r seats, honda's had them since 2015
Honda has a second generation NSX designed in 2008 that had a non turbo V10 engine, but trashed the whole project due to the economy taking a downturn, imagine what a V10 VTEC would have sound like.
My friend with the Viper despises the NSX, but what else is he gonna do. Is an amazing piece of tech.

Shame the car still isn't selling it's a fantastic looking car and quite frankly can keep up with the best of them Glad that they got rid of that silver piece in the front and now made it match with the front of the car. I actually saw one of these on the road and I couldn't believe it it's like I saw Ferrari.. That's how rare these things are to see and unfortunately it's not due to quantity it's due to people scoffing at Acura this is their supercar and I have a feeling in many many years time people will actually want these and the values going to skyrocket

@@RaitisRides Joe, I want to know your opinion on this question. Would you buy a fully optioned out mustang ecoboost with the performance engine, magna ride, etc or a mildly optioned gt? I personally think the ecoboost sounds decent and the gas mileage is an added bonus.
if i remember correctly, they only fielded a single NSX compared to other team's running multiple entries. you only needed 1 when it sounded that good on pace!
I don't generally like electric cars, for many reasons, including the detrimental EMF emissions. But, If I had my own place, with mucho dinero, and could have a nice charging station with a roof full of solar cells, like available from Sunbeam America, this new Acura NSX is what I would want. I love it for what it is. I would just wish the roof had solar cells to supplement the power supply to the batteries.

Corvette is actually a Ferrari wannabe. Back in the early days of Chevrolet, they wanted to compete with looks and performance with Ferrari and based the design off the Ferrari 250GTO and the old Berlinetta since the 60s. Corvette has always looked like a 250GTO/Berlinetta up until the C7. Now Corvette is a mid engine vehicle like the Ferrari 458/488 just like what they promised since the 70s. Compare the looks of a C7 and a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.

Every day super car would be tough to choose between this and the GTR.
Having the option of going silently with the all electric mode is also pretty useful
So they're just adding another colour choice? I guess my '18 NSX in Berlina Black has nothing to worry about....😂😁. Absolutely love the car BTW. Daily driver all year round in Canada where temps get down to -40C. Bulletproof precision crafted performance.

The new one is an insult to the original. It should have been called the NS-Z (like they did with the CR-X). Original is a Japanese jewel, new one is an expensive American pretence. Thumbs up for Mr Raiti anyway.

@I then you obviously know nothing about that original NSX, it's breakthroughs and development story. It's a classic not for how fast it went. Nowadays anyone can do a supercar hence why this shouldn't be called the same.

By far its biggest 'flaw' is the price. I can think of many cars I'd much rather have for less. If it was priced within range of the C8 it would make a lot more market sense. Exotics are common here but I never see these on the road, and my dealership always has one in the showroom. Too many great cars especially in the recent second-hand market. Just my honest opinion.
I totally agree with you! They even dropped the price at the end of last year and still had a hard time moving them.
What major change I want to see from the Acura NSX? Type R!
Let’s see a performance Acura NSX Type R that is not only performance competitive, but also just as luxurious and price competitive with the Audi R8, McLaren 570S, Mercedes Benz Amg Gtr, Porsche 911, Maserati Granturismo and Ferrari California.
Not going to happen as Type R is a stripped version for weight saving so less luxury but would still be nice to see with some performance upgrades
