2019 Acura NSX - Review & Road Test
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- A revolution back in the late 1980s, the first generation NSX made its debut at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show, and Acura successfully put the sports car world on notice. Decades later, the luxury arm of Honda hopes they can rekindle the magic of that first daily driving dynamo with the second generation hybrid. Micah Muzio, you're up!

Before you ask, yes we shot and edited this before the 2020 Corvette was revealed. The C8 Corvette definitely changes the game where mid-engine performance cars are concerned.
Can’t wait for the C8 review!
Still love the Orange 🍊 paint but the c8 just wow for the price
Haha. I was also gonna comment.
Argh I was going to comment about the c8 lol
The Corvette definitely looks like a poor man's copy of this
Not gonna lie, it does look good in that orange
Nobody talks about the floating A-pillars. I think that's the best part of a very sharp design.
I've seen it in person, at high noon.... too bright imho...
Although the paint job is absolutely amazing... better than Lamborghini or Ferrari.
Bharath Naveen yes it does. It really shines.
looks like a pumpkin
The New C8 Corvette just stopped the production of this car. Acura had a chance to do a SIMPLE car but they hired these OVER EDUCATED engineers and they f**ked themselves royally in the ASS!! I see these cars being given away just to clear the showroom floors of their PAINFUL f**k up...
Craziest is this car is made in the good old Merica! Thank you to Honda for putting so much trust in the American labor when it comes to such an important halo car!
No wonder it’s so expensive...
@I VERY well put, my friend...respect to you.
@I don't even put the nsx in the same sentence as the ferrari or 918, as they run circles around the nsx too... Fucking double standards. This nsx is way too heavy for its average HP output. It wouldn't stand a chance against a cheaper 488 Pista or 720s.
This car is exciting but definetely far behind European super cars.
Car made in Ohio not Mexico
@@nik7bkh965 he's too biased, I've seen his comments almost everywhere, don't mind him
This dude is my favorite car reviewer of all time. Perfect balance of insight, analysis and sarcasm💥🙌🏾💥
That C8 is just incredible .. everything the NSX should've been.
This car makes my heart flutter. What an incredible machine. It's so tragically underrated
Most underrated car
I watched more than 10 videos that reviewing Acura/Honda NSX 2019/2020. This is the best video I ever watched. Simple, straight and video is made with professional method. Good job.
I swear every supercar/sports car video is going to be bombarded with C8 comments
And I'm not complaining lol
sad boi lmfaooo yes! 😂 c8 is a game changer nothing but respect. Probably the only thing no one is hating on is the Porsche 911. Still iconic
I love how all the comments are about a car that's not in the video🤣
It makes you wonder if the NSX is still relevant or if the excitement over the C8 is temporary.
(My bet is that Honda will need to make some major improvements to the NSX if they don’t want this generation of the car to become nothing more than a footnote in car history)
@@arispelius600 if they do, their first place to focus on is the infotainment system fr the updated MDX, followed by more engine noise.
That's because the new C8 is what the original NSX used to be.
A supercar-killer,that had performance of an european exotic, for half the price.
Even before the C8 came out, this here was underwhelming at best(same with the new Supra).
It's way too expensive and has far less performance than other cars in his category, which are cheaper. The Audi R8 for example is cheaper, has much more power and it comes with a N/A V10 that sounds amazing.(same engine that the Huracan uses btw.)
And then,GM dropped the C8 and pretty much decimated this here and the new Supra.
@@doublep1980 Well said. Acura should of at least priced it with the 911S but 190+ is just nuts!
@@frankp3757 An even bigger failure is the new Supra. Both Toyota and Honda are completely missing the mark with these cars and seem to fail to understand what made the originals so successful.
Amazing! Can't beat the rev and sound of a Honda/Acura engine. Nice and fun review.
A great car let down on two fronts. 1) the price and 2) the interior. Excellent video, as usual. :-)
RIP NSX, Hey C8 whats up!
No thanks to the entry C8. Mehh
C8 ZR1, ZO6.... Now we talking. Oh yess
www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c8-general-discussion/4379888-c8-problems-8.html
I am a big fan of the nsx ,and have a 92nsx the new nsx is great but price point way off for the masses
I think what you meant to say is. You have a True Japanese Heritage 92 NSX. This New NSX is just a "Atrocity" that carry the NSX name!!!
@@azndrgnboi34 you mean atrocity ?
@@anmol3457 lol Fixed! Thank you. Dam Autocorrect!
@le m thanks for sharing your opinion but truthfully no need in name calling. What are you 10??? Regarding the new NSX it doesn't matter what technology you offer or what type of Hybrid the car ustilizes if No One is buying! Just looking at the sales record last year in 2018 only 170 units were sold!? We talking about for the ENTIRE Year! Now you wonder why Acura relaunched the NSX for thousands less??? It's great that you are NSX supporter but you cannot deny the fact that if the NSX continues to do this poorly. We won't even have a car with its "awesome" technology to discuss or debat about in the near future!
The original NSX blows the new NSX out of the water in nearly every objective and subjective way.
The panic is real after the C8 reveal. Mid Engines were made for high end profit. The C8, was probably made for company survival before things get bad.
@Burns me up. ROFL
Taxpayer funded trash is what the C8 is. And with how great their quality is, things are gonna keep getting bad
www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c8-general-discussion/4379888-c8-problems-8.html
LOVE THIS CAR.........deserve more credits than it normally gets. It looks stunning......
its a pretty amazing car... its hard to deny it. especially with the price drops at dealers
Mid engine cars just all seem so unimpressive for the price since the C8 was unveiled.
Bad Drivers Of The Illawarra Front engine* ☝🏽
C8 makes everything else feel like a rip off
The new NSX was called overpriced when it was released. I think GM basically just did an AMD move. AMD’s ryzen exposed how overpriced Intel was was charging for higher core-count CPUs. I think the C8 simply exposes the ridiculous profit these cars get just because they are mid-engine.
@@panzer_TZ so then Porsche, Audi, and the other brands are overpriced too, right?
@@iluvcakes19 Yes, they are all overpriced.
NSX definitely does not stand for Not-So-Expensive:))))))
Almost 10 minutes of smiling. Thank you Micah. You and Tim are the best! ;)
The Orange Acura NSX looks great! Also, the NSX is one of the best looking modern supercars imo.
I could get 2 2020 corvettes for this price and still buy my kid a new civic too
Best comment so far!
The Corvette already outdated and it hasn't come out. This is the future of cars. Cheapest hybrid super car on the market.
@@downsouthlouisiana Cheapest? ok sure...
Why is this still a thing in 2019! Acura is really desperate to pay UA-camrs to endorse their car! C8 put just about 80% of all cars in its place. 0-60 under 3 secs AND cost 1/4 of this Acura atrocity! I agree with @PonyBoy you can get 2 C8, buy your kid a Civic AND with the rest of the money donate it to Acura to hire better designers!
@@downsouthlouisiana there's also talks that there will be a hybrid version of the c8 Corvette
Ferrari and Lamborghini to impress others, but the NSX, to impress yourself.
Mac Dee
Who cares about impressing others, are they going to help you pay for it? Typical shallow view in the western culture where everything is image and no substance.
@@nimueh4298
Yea bro he's ignorant and biased.
There are plenty of people who would be impressed... Even women.
@@nimueh4298 this car is better than Lamborghinis
I think a lot of people would actually be really impressed by the beautiful orange wedge!...but as others point out, that shouldn't be the point.
David Meskhi
Lamborghini I agree will attract more attention but if you want reliability the NSX would be my choice hands down.
Remember all of these fancy vehicles are money pits design to make money off the owner after the purchase, at less with a Japanese exotic you'll have a better change of not paying for costly repairs down the road as often as other brands.
The C8 will get my money like yesterday lol
And ultimately be in the shop tomorrow :(
@@briand.1694 hater lol
Corvettes are super reliable. But I would pick the NSX for the awd I live in New England.
@@noahlugobaseballandboxing7015 not everyone have nsx money tho
You dont even got C8 money. There is no future in your frontin
Absolutely love this car ❤️
🤢🤮
This guy takes car review to another level ✌. Keep it uo
I own the first gen NSX and love it. I have always been a Honda fan. It will crush the C8 and yes, you get what you pay for with GM. If you want to buy a C8 your not the person to buy an NSX. It's not for you, sorry. There is a reason the new NSX is the super GT 500 champ among JDM.
Can I stop by for a test drive..?
i would get this over c8 or even future c9 anyday
The fact that you can get TWO C8 Stingrays for the price of ONE base NSX is truly laughable.
The Franchise one things for sure tho. You aint even buying either one and you guys rant about the price.
Jurietto Mitshi Kunai lol guaranteed i make more than you annually
Jurietto Mitshi Kunai imma truck and luxury car guy anyway
Damn near three really.
@Your Name Here c8 dont need the extra stuff... still faster
I guess the new Vette will push this even further into oblivion
Chevrolet to Honda: hold my 🍺
Josh R until the vette breaks down and the Honda doesn’t
Honda to Chevrolet: hold my reliability
It won't just be the Honda/Acura NSX there will be a whole slew of exotic sports car manufacturers & their Fan Boys that feel the Sting of the Stingray. Acura NSX Fan Boy owners feeling the Sting of the C8 Corvette Stingray yet!, the value of your machine has just dropped like a BRICK overnight.
Even lamboringhini will suffer a big sales drop. The magic spell that had been cast over the car enthusiast has now been broken. That has gone for good. None of them will be getting away with it for much longer. People will see they've been taken for MUGS all these years, the perpetrators will be lucky to survive, of cause many won't survive as we'll see as time goes on, It'll be interesting to see, and humorous.
If Chevrolet push hard in Europe it will finish off many solely sports car manufacturers. Eggs in one baskets and all that, that's their problem. Some Mugs will still buy the Acura NSX but it won't be for long as it won't be enough to warrant its continued production. The Acura NSX is as dead as a Dodo now.
Potential C8 owners why not get your Acura NSX badge now, magnetise the back of it, put two crosses through it and have it ready to affix to the side of your C8 when they stop production. You'll have a whole long line of them as time goes on, Lotus will look & fit nicely as well. Stuff the lot of them, took y'all for Mugs... now they're going to pay, the C8 way.
@le m yeah because Italian cars are relia........oohhh wait
@le m that's awesome and all but you that's not what you were shitting out in against lol you put it up against Italians and now you're trying to scrape goat with the nsx :) haha what a lame
Speaking about reliability, remember Toyota and the LFA? No, don’t worry. No one remembers it either.
When Micah said "I'll be the judge of what's Super Handling" @1:03, I knew exactly what the next "line" was ("that's pretty super"), haha; not that Micah's predictability is a bad thing.
So I can buy 3 C8 Corvettes for 1 NSX?
I like this reviewers enthusiasm and love the NSX
Agree on the orange paint. It's the best color for this car. Imagine if they made it around 80k base, up to 100k with options. Now the C8 is going to murder the competition, to the delight of most consumers. It's a great time to be a car guy
This car became even more irrelevant with the new C8 corvette. The C8 is what the NSX should have been. I live in Miami, a city filled with exotic cars and I have yet to see a NSX on the road.
I have I also live in Miami
true.
why hybrid? that killed the atraction.
Only time I saw an nsx was on ocean drive. It was three of them but they all had manufacturer plates so I guess it doesn’t count.
The C8 will only prove that mid-engine supercars are expensive for a reason. Get ready for the disastrous breakdowns and endless recalls.GM are not the company that can pull off that kind of miracle.
Church of the H? Dont you mean Temple of VTEC?
Should have upgraded that interior. Especially for that price
Awesome and distinctive review of one of a kind legendary supercar, thank you.
I don't understand. The original NSX's appeal was value. The original NSX had amazing performance at a relatively affordable price. I don't understand what management at Honda/Acura were thinking here. Why give this car the NSX badge at this price range? Why give it a hybrid power train? Why have it go up against a GT3 or an R8?? Unbelievable...
It’s a good car pretty beast to me
$90k for a car back in the 90s is NOT affordable. It isn't really all that affordable now. But this car is more akin to hyper cars from Porsche, McLaren, and Ferrari with its technology. And it comes at a huge discount compared to them. However, I do agree, ~150k starting does seem a bit steep. ~120k might have been better imo.
I'd rather get a C8 for half the price.
They put a lot of technology in this car like the electric mode AWD etc..
This one is also. Cheapest hybrid super car. Next one up is the Porsche and that thing is stupid expensive!!
When my brother and I were younger we some day wanted to own an NSX. Then Acura went and dumped their brand in the toilet. I don’t know anyone who says, “damn, Acura is making great cars and I really want one.”
However, this price is ridiculous! The price appears even more more ridiculous compared to the new Corvette or Tesla S for that matter. 40k of carbon fiber and an alcantara liner is a flat out joke.
I --- Did you own a Gen 1 NSX or just drive one 1 day and think you knew the car really well?
If you own one back then was it a bone stock car? It only took around $3500 to $4000 dollars to change them up and from that point a Corvette had a very hard time keeping pace with one any more.
I will agree with most other cars in a drag race were faster than an NSX. Once you got into the twisties. It was Adios Muther fugger. To that heavy corvette that you almost rolled over at speeds keeping up with an NSX!!
I love this car , it is my dream car
@Rolas cool, I don't know why people hate this car
@le m ya man , it is also good as an daily driver
Don't dream. You'll get it for sure. 👍
Love these vids!
I LOVE THIS CAR!!! 😍😍😍🤩🤩
🤢🤮
I was hoping a 50k car 150k is just too much for a V6 the car looks cool just make it cheaper and you will be good
@Rolas the c8 has a better value but a bad design. The NSX has a good design but has a bad value. Hopefully the lower the price of the NSX.
With an V8 and the Honda blind spot camera, the nsx would be adored even with a $30k higher sticker price.
Great car but production cost is killing itself unlike the 1st gen which is far more accessible Great review too
Even with a good discount from Acura for the head over heels review of the NSX, you're better off getting a similarly performing C8 for $100k off!😅 The C8 makes the NSX irrelevant!
But the NSX looks better
@@fridericusrex9812 I'll give u that, but are u willing to pay 3 Corvettes for one good looking orange Acura?
@@Sie84yv check out the c8 with aftermarket wheels. Google it. Looks way better
I doubt a dealer will sell a c8 for 60k
Purple Giraffe perhaps not right away but eventually people will be able to order a C8 with no options if that's what they want, keep in mind corvettes are not meant to be exclusive
I like it when Micah is on here talking about whatever it is he's talking about. He's pretty.
For The $ 15000 cost of carbon fiber to cut 1.7 pounds, I can get a liposuction cut my weight about 100 pounds off
I would do the last if I was you.........because a fatty in a sportscar is a little sad..LOL
AWESOMEMAN MANN that 1.7 pounds weight loss was for the Roof alone. Not the total weight loss.
😂 😂
Why am I watching this when I'm not in the market for a new car.... Blame it on Micah!!!
The newly revealed C8 represents what the old Acura NSX did and wht this new NSX should have been. It was the simple, light, affordable mid engine super car. The new NSX is overweight, complex, and overpriced. Pass
@Your Name Here but the c8 corvette is likely to go hybrid in zr1 trim, and other manufacturers have already or planned to make hybrid sports cars anyway, so its not bucking the trend. Moreover, its performance does not make it a bargain, especially in light of the new corvette. Nsx isn't a bad car, but for its price its simply not worth it.
Its looks so amazing in orange. Looks like it was made for it. I like it in other collars too but Orange is perfect
@le m
I agree 👍👍
I wish they built the NSX without the need for hybrid powertrain but my gawd does the orange color looks amazing! I love how sport oriented the NSX and how it has an amazing AWD system! The C8 corvette will now dilute the mid engine car industry..... and with that much power and more ppl with money than driving skills.... you’re going to see a lot of accidents with the C8 corvette
My god this thing looks like a Cop magnet. It’s so damn good looking. I didn’t know how I’d think of the orange in pictures, but it looks good in motion.
Micah, great job on the review! I’ve always liked this generation of NSX, but have maintained from day 1 that it’s WAY overpriced. The new C8 seems more exotic at less than half the price.
Thanks, Honda but I'm getting a C8.
Your cant afford either....stop..
@@FirstLast-mb9fq literally every american can get a loan for $50,000 dude... so you're argument is invalid
I have an AP1 S2000 in New Formula Red, and an '18 NSX in Berlina Black. Awesome cars..............thanx Honda.
This is the best advertisement for the new Corvette
Money no object, what would you pick (and why): C8 Corvette or NSX?
NSX:
Styling: Looks better - looks like a true mid engined 'supercar', a much more cohesive design. The C8 really looks like a mid engined corvette, doesn't quite have the dramatic supercar lines and proportions,
AWD - greater all-round ability and safety in varying weather conditions
Hybrid- can be comfortable (almost silent) quite cruiser then a howling supercar at the push of a button
Quality. -As much as I love Corvettes, they are still a GM product. The top build vehicle from Honda/Acura is going to be hard to beat in terms of quality/reliability
Exclusivity: the NSX is shunned by Euro brand snobs, so they are in fact a rare sight. Corvettes will be everywhere when the C8 comes out.
..but if the budget is $70k, not $170k then Corvette is a no brainer against the likes of say a Supra or other high end Camaros and Mustangs...
@@KnightIndustries572 good points. Would you take the c8 over a 718 Cayman, any 718, including the GT4?
@@KnightIndustries572 Well, of course the C8 looks like a mid engine corvette. It's supposed to. It will look even better in person.
@@iluvcakes19 That's a harder choice, becuase the Cayman is not an exotic mid engined supercar in the way an NSX is. Knowing that the Cayman is probably a better car in terms of quality, I'd still probably gravitate to the Corvette as it is more special with a greater sense of occasion than a Cayman. Also there are the servicing costs which would be a lot higher on the Porsche.
@@nerychristian Yeah, I get that...nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't look like a hip high exotic like the NSX or McLaren 570 or Ferrari 488 does. Having seen the real life out door footage on another UA-cam channel, the C8 looks great, but it doesn't look like a mid engined exotic supercar.
I have a feeling the C8 corvette is gonna put the nail in the coffin for whatever little hope left for the NSX , if they struggled to sell it before how are they gonna sell it when u have the C8 starting under 60k
Maybe not if Acura turns up the wick and drops weight. And if they add a manual transmission (I'm dreaming), the C8 doesn't offer that... they could be onto something.
Oh and good luck getting a new Corvette for under $60k. Even now, non hi-po vettes on lots are stickering for $75 - 80k.
www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c8-general-discussion/4379888-c8-problems-8.html
Micah you really need to get one , you really look good in it .
I like the car a lot. Weight in the middle and super handling suspension, extra electric torque, the sexiest Acura ever, and very thoughtful engineering. What I don't like for a $200K car is borrowing bean-counting from the Pilot. Just don't do that in your halo. They are nearly in the same neighborhood as Ferrari, Lambo, and Bentley. I'd be thrilled to own an NSX, but I would curse the Pilot buttons every day. I wonder what the resale will be in a couple years.
The only Super Car I would want to own if I had Super Car money.
You have bad taste. I would rather have a McLaren or a Pagani.
@@nerychristian I would only need one NSX. You're going to need 2, one to drive while the other is in the shop.🤑
Lots of inevitable comparisons with the C8 Corvette (which I love)..but the NSX just looks more -'supercar' to The C8 to me looks like a mid engined Corvette, rather than a mid engine supercar..still bloody nice, but the NSX is on another level IMO. Also it is a much more sophisticated car with AWD hybrid drive train that can be a quiet comfortable cruiser and a howling supercar at the push of a button. Something that the C8 Corvette cannot be. It's also going to be a lot faster (and safer) when conditions are less perfect and I would imagine the quality will be on another level too. I recall in 2016 the NSX was hailed as a cut price Porsche 918/LaFerrari/P1.
Actually, the C8 will have different drive modes. One of them is Quiet mode.
If Honda couldn’t sell this car before, it won’t be able to give them away after the C8.
Fantastic underrated car.
Wow didn't know this car was still relevant
That orange is gorgeous. And they just introduced a beautiful yellow paint job too
Every time I'm reminded of this car, I realise It'd probably be the one I'd buy if I could afford a supercar
going to be a new owner soon :P..glad i opted for the 2019 model.
I wish the *C8* had an Acura badge
Many C8's WILL have Acura NSX badges on them, on the side with two crosses through them, just in view of the side mirror. When Acura stops production of their NSX as other sports car manufacturers will, some C8 owners will collect the road kill badges, it'll be fun for them. These car outfits will blame everything else as will their fan boys but we'll know why they went under.
Beautiful car gonna be mine
Howdy, great review as always!😸😻😸
NSX dud at $193,000! Buy a C8 fully loaded for $85K, save $107,000
Just ordered a nsx ...seen the c8 and I get it but there 2 different cars
With the reveal of the C8 I wouldn't have even bothered to upload this video.

Why? Should the other cars he mentioned do the same and not upload videos?
the nsx is amazing and looks so much better than the new c8
For those who wonder if Honda can do anything they decide to do, the NSX is the answer.
Stephen Hendricks yes, yes they can. Like Toyota and the LFA that no one remembers.
Just rented one of these for the day. Not gonna lie, It was friggin awesome!!! My face hurt from smiling. The desert outside Vegas was perfect, no traffic, no cops, long straight shots. Get into the canyon cut through the turns like butter. Hugs the road like you’d hug a pillow your 1st day in prison. Just wish they offered different engine setups at different price points. Something starting at 75k would help sales numbers which are dismal
Get a better job and You can buy one friend go to college .

I really like this color
NSX fans can enjoy what seems like a very nice 2 seat exotic.....nice updates that rid itself if that ridiculous chrome of the first year..l
The only flaw in my eyes with this car. It doesn't break 200 mph. And that's just a minor gripe. This car is nuts.
Nice review of an awesome sports car.
C8 all day, the C8 is a game changer. no way is the nsx worth 150k now that the C8 is out
If more units they sell, cheaper can be. Maybe the NSX dont have the big market of Corvette.
Anyway Corvette dont have expensive batterys and electric engines.
You could say the same with other supercars price.
Real game changer. GM's bailout special right here. When will folks ever learn.

You know what i want. Full carbon fiber acura nsx with a w16 and 2 teala electric motor engine. With super handling.
the volume knob is a knurled rotary knob under your left thumb on the steering wheel, read the book!
So when can we get the more budget-friendly version... Prelude and Integra?
In a year
It's a great car. Super fast super Hi-Tech and probably reliable. But for all that, I think it's time we consider this generation of NSX a complete failure. And that's without the C8 existing.
No volume knob! What is this? 1922?
