The idea of a new Acura NSX was extremely appealing, but when the second generation arrived at our test track in 2017, we expected a little bit more than what it delivered. Since that test, Acura has improved many parts in the car and made suspension changes and recalibrated the drivetrain. How do these changes improve the driving experience? That's what Kurt Niebuhr finds out in this video.

I'll keep the NSX, I really like the car. I believe it's an underrated car, that people tend to look past. The performance is there, no question. In this particular video he spent more time wishing that the NSX was an Audi, Porsche or a Mercedes. It's not, it is what it is. Also the NSX does not cost $200,000. Try again.

Problem is you're paying almost 200k. You can build car for performance for half the price. The outdated infotainment is quite lacking and needs to be criticized. Bad button layout. For the most expensive car made by the company I'd expect better, the 2013 TLX has damn near identical infotainment except it has dual screens. You're paying that much for a car I'd expect top of the line across the board not half and half.

So many people say how great or better previous NSX was... back then their were lots of negative things said about it. So, I was not surprised to see the same negative review for this new car. Just like you and Carlos find faults in new NSX, I find faults in both and other negative reviews. You guys compare this car to others that have fixed and worked out there bugs, like (1) how Porsche 911 had heat issues inside, suicidal handling, etc...(2) R8 had issues, (3) 458 had issues, (4) Maclaren had issues, etc, etc..but new NSX is still reliable and in 17 to now is still one of the fastest and most technologically advanced car to date... thanks for your video, but no thanks for telling the whole truth about the first new car to come out in 10 yrs that was supposed to have a V10, but because of Mr Honda's visions, worked with an American team multicultural team on this car. So, if I was like you, the weakest link is it being made in USA by mostly Americans...but for me being mixed race and culture...it's a awesome Honda thing.

interesting review. I have mixed emotions about the NSX. Before I explain, the rating of an i8 over the 2017 NSX is a pretty bad review, not based on the car, but based on the reviewers. I have never seen that poor of a review, and most people that rate it put it just above or below the R8. I honestly dont know a reviewer on the planet that would take an i8 and a 2017 to the track or day to day driving and rate the i8 better than the NSX, NONE! Im not in the market for one, I drive a 911. That being said, they are in an interesting position. At near $200k, they start to get into McLaren and 488 territory. I don't know anyone who would purchase the NSX over those cars, even this newer updated version. On the other hand Honda did put a TON of tech into the car, it is actually more of a "hypercar" that it is a supercar based on the hybrid tech, torque vectoring, etc... The original NSX was a car that performed BETTER than the competition, but cost less. This NSX performs worse than the competition and costs MORE (cost due to the tech). Thats a problem. Other than that, I think the car is actually one of the better looking cars on the road. I do think you spend too much time being critical of the interior (most supercars and sports cars suck in this department as well as the SAT-Nav systems) as well as the TIRES. Do you test any other supercar with road tires? So do you also take a 650s or a 488 and put on road tires and test it in that configuration? Personally, if you buy this car and put those tires on it, you probably bought the wrong car or just have no clue and wouldn't know how this car is supposed to "feel" anyway and you are a crappy driver and need to be saved by all the computer gizmos. Honda was running incentives last year for the NSX in the $130-150k mark. This is where I think the car makes sense, but I dont think Honda can be profitable selling it at that price. Frankly, I wish they did a non-Hybrid version, higher turbo boost, even if it were slightly slower, but put it in the $100-130k range.

So, the NSX should by the last car to mention if you're talking about a luxury car from Acura. And for that kind of money, I'd much rather buy the Audi R8 V10 Plus. I do not mind the attachment for the cup holder, even my passengers think its interesting...The knob selector is substantial size wise compared to the 911 but it is so much fun to use... I agree with u that its tiny and no space for a jacket or small items but what a small price to pay for a thrilling/ lightning fast, somewhat rare and exclusive automobile....I initially gave u a thumb down but at the end I switched it to a thumb up... Value wise, this car blows cars twice as expensive away... Ferrari 488 costs twice as much but I do not think u get twice the value of an NSX.... I could honestly say I see 10 times more 488`s on the road than NSX's......I cannot wait until they come out with the type R.

Sure, a supercar is for speed, but the modern look isn't only the outside but also the inside, and for the asking price, that Infotainment system isn't it. If you think that infotainment system is unacceptable: ask yourself if something like that is acceptable in the AMG GT R or the Huracan. Also, practicality is the new trend, y'all. More storage space helps, and none is unacceptable in a $200k car.

I am probably of the minority here, but I have always liked the new NSX. Yes, at $180-200k, it's alot of money and other good options. I would not choose a McLeran 570s or M-B AMG GT-R over this. I would choose a Porche 911 Turbo S over the NSX, but getting Acura/Honda reliability, a simplicity about it and oil changes, and rarity are all positive things. The NSX is incredibly fast. Most don't realize how fast it really is. I would never track any car I buy. I would drive it on public roads just to enjoy it and i would get that with this car. I am a big Honda/Acura guy. Ive owned several models and have an Accord Sport 2.0T and my parents have an RDX A-Spec. I also have a Hellcat as my "toy car" so I am big into cars. I think the interior is nice in the NSX too. May be a few more tweaks to the infotainment would go a long ways. If you could find a brand new NSX for $140-150k, it's a bargain and worth it over unreliable German competitors.

The 90s Acura NSX still looks HOT! Esp. the na1 with popups. This 2017/2020 nsx looks, "cool", tho not quite as good as original NSX. Still, I think if Honda were to make the hybrid 3 electric motor a separate up- ranked model ( sh-awd or type s) and a cheaper base model with rwd and 1 electric motor only, this would have marketed the car better, as said car would have been lighter and cheaper in base trim ($90-$120k), and those who want the type s would pay the high price.

Kurt, I have watched NSX review after NSX review. Yours is the absolute best! I rarely see NSX's on the road and I know it's because of all the limitations you've outlined here. Point by point, it's the little things that will set super cars apart because every one of them will bring a smile to your face. This is a review that benefits the real consumer who might be able to afford a car like this. Can you do me a favor Kurt? Can you please review the C8 Corvette in the same way? I cannot afford the NSX, but I can potentially afford the Corvette, and if I go point-by-point in everything you (and I) don't like about the NSX, I can see the C8 potentially resolving the issue right down to the cup-holders and a place to store your phone. And all the reviews of the C8 lately in Nevada tested the C8 not only on the track with track tires, but also base versions with all seasons and reviewers have still been blown away! I think the C8 today is what the NSX used to be years ago, the every-person's supercar. Would love to see a truly stringent review from you to know if I'm right. Unlike a lot of the commenters here, I'm going to be putting my hard earned money on one of these vehicles and, yes, all these things matter to me, supercar or not! Looking forward to your review!
