      Yep, New Sports eXperimental (or eXperience). It is certainly ahead of the curve as a hybrid supercar, and McLaren, Ferrari and the rest will have to take this approach in the future. I do think it was a miss to benchmark the existing Ferrari 458 (just as the original car benchmarked the 328 & 348 which then became an outdated benchmark), instead of anticipate the forthcoming Ferrari 488 or McLaren 720S. The power output does seem outdated for a supercar in 2021 (or even back in 2018). 700+ hp would go a long way to help the NSX build more hype IMO, perhaps that would have necessitated a V8 twin-turbo instead of V6 back at the design stage...

    It if funny how much badge snobbery is a factor this days. Spend over 180k on a car and it has to be an exotic (funny cause the new NSX is more exotic then most Ferraris Lambos and McLearen not even gonna mention Porsche) every one loved the first NSX cause it was 90% of a Ferrari 348-355 performance for about 50% of the price. Now the new NSX was the first car outside the holy trinity that is performance Hybrid. And the market wasn't ready for it. Now Ferrari just put out a SF90 which is twin turbo v8 and 3 electric motors same layout as the NSX. And again the NSX is 90% of it's performance for less then 50% of the price. We know McLearen is just launching the new sport series model which is a twin turbo v6 and 3 electric motors. And again NSX is 95% of it's performance for 70% of the price. Soon Porsche will have a hybrid 992 cause the new 8speed PDK has a space for an electric motor. And I recon then people will rediscover the hybrid NSX. Cause then the hybrid super sport cars will be the talking point and in demand. Sadly till then the new NSX will struggle to shift. But for me it is the car that I would buy cause as U said it is quick enough and because it is so modern is design and power plant technology. I would get the yellow one as well and daily the s*hit out of it. Grate review!

      This is exactly what the original NSX was. This is the hybrid supercar for the budget. I think this used to be like the budget version of the holy trinity (918, laferrari, p1). Even new hybrid supercars like the McLaren Artura is still more expensive than this. So in that case, the NSX is a budget hybrid supercar, just like how the original NSX was a budget supercar back then. The new NSX, like the original NSX, is also a daily supercar. In Supercar of London's review he said there are no blind spots and is very comfy. So yeah...

I have been a big fan of the NSX ever since the first car was made but I never knew what NSX actually meant. You are the first one I heard to ever explain it means "New Sports Car Experience" which really fits the bill for the new NSX. I own a 2019 NSX and bought it new for $130k. The sticker was about$160k but there are always discounts. Outside of Carbon Fiber Rotors, all of the other options are cosmetic (i.e. Carbon Fiber trim, roof, etc). This car should never be compared to cars in the 200k range. It's an amazing car for $130k and with probably 1500 Units in the US, they are definitely going to hold their value.

      Carbon fiber are lighter true - but I am one of those that don't like carbon fiber especially in the major part of the car such as hood and roof. Overtime, they deteriorate from the heat and looks so ugly and dull and there is no other way for you to replenish it. It is what it is once you put it on.
      If you are not racing, carbon fiber brake rotor is not necessary - it will drain you pocket during maintenance.

    I think alot of people missed the point of the NSX. The original NSX was one of the best handling cars in the world. It wasn't meant to beat the Supra or Nissan 300z. There are many cars that are faster, and the price point is up there. That makes it difficult for people to buy because if you have that kind of money you got other choices, in my opinion is a great buy.

    The biggest issue for the gen 2 NSX is the C8 Corvette Stingray at less than half the price with similar performance the buyer looking to get a cheap sports car will be poached by GM. The buyer looking for exclusivity will buy an Audi R8. Simply put at the end of the day the car is still a Honda and $200K for a Honda is a hard sell. That's Lamborghini territory. The sweet spot for the NSX is $100K to $120K. More than that and buyers are looking at more exotic name plates.

    • @donn.4766
      @donn.4766 2 роки тому

      the nsx with its hybrid powertrain at 150k is a good range imo. R8 is about 170-200k. Covette is 70-110k. The nsx is better than the normal C8. Also, vettes have always been a bargain super car, so its hard to compare.

    • @demetricklouis5710
      @demetricklouis5710 2 роки тому

      @@donn.4766 I'd say, it really depends on what you're looking for. If you're just looking at NSX, C8, and R8 in terms of performance, the C8 is better buy. If you're going for luxury then the R8 might be the better choice. If you're more of the mind that you want technology inline with a P1 or 918 without footing a nearly million dollars price tag, but want something faster than an I8 then the NSX is your car. Or maybe you're just a fan of Honda and the thought of owning a Honda super car works for you. In any case the market for the NSX is extremely small. Sales numbers bare this out. I'm fan of the product but looking at it realistically, it is hard to justify spending that kind of money with better options available from the perspective of luxury or performance. Even the I8 comes into play if all you want is a hybrid sports car and performance numbers aren't a deal breaker. Chop $20k to $30K off the NSX's asking price and sales would likely double or even triple because the car is no longer positioned as middle of the road and targets the I8 as a sales competitor.

      @@demetricklouis5710i dont think its about pricing, its rare and that commands pricing. The nsx is just misunderstood. Im old enough to remember how hated the original nsx was when it came out. Magazines and people said it was a wannabe ferrari with no soul, a ridiculous 80k for a honda, it was an imitator that didn’t do 1 thing better than ferrari yes, they questioned its reliability because honda doesn’t make supercars. Car “Enthusiasts” scoffed at at nsx. Now its loved for pretty much every reason. Its ahead of its time, and people just didnt get it. @@donn.4766 I don't disagree with everything you just said. Arguably the gen 1 NSX was better than the Ferrari it was benchmarked against. It was more reliable, and a better performer, but what it lacked was name recognition. Acura is still Honda and many people couldn't justify spending that kind of money for a Honda.
      The gen 2 NSX isn't what I would call "more exotic". The cars are made to order. Sure they are rare, but that is because people aren't buying them in significant numbers. Last year saw fewer than 150 being sold if memory serves.
      I am a Honda fanboy. I own 6. So it's not like I'm saying this out of dislike for the brand. Heck I own stock in the company. So it only helps me if their cars sell.

I did one not too long ago, got to compare it back to back to a 2002 NSX, the people that own these cars know what they want in a car and love it's driving characteristics. The two main downsides of this car are the interior screams civic or something that shouldn't cost 160k+ new, and the lack of performance upgrades and tuneability. there's downpipes, exhaust, intercooler upgrades, and a jb4 tune box with a sprint booster for throttle response (making an extra 100hp) but that's it. Don't get me wrong, those upgrades make this car a savage, but to most that want an exotic and want to upgrade, they want bigger turbos, and power upwards of 800hp.

      Poverty Spec, I doubt that. This car comprises a strategic role in Acura’s marketing of the brand’s advanced technologies...it’s a quintessential showpiece, and racing the car (GT3) is a part of this.
      The gen. 1 NSX wasn’t selling like hotcakes either. Production was ultimately nixed due to high costs to reengineer to meet new & more stringent pollution standards. As it was ‘long in the tooth’, Honda shifted focus to creating the gen. 2 NSX.

    $150,000 for a v6 car with the needless extra weight and complexity of having multiple electric motors and a battery, when the ultimate result is that it does about 95% of what a Nissan GTR can do. V6's are not exciting. They missed the mark on the "hybrid supercar" thing. 560 horsepower isn't enough, and people hate V6s in anything more than a $30,000 crossover. If they did a 3.6 liter turbo V8 hybrid that makes 675 horsepower for that same $150k, we'd be talking about the NSX as one of the very best modern sports cars, and demand would be through the roof.

    • @rc7016
      @rc7016 3 роки тому +1

      Totally missed the mark... I mean after all imagine a "supercar" with a V6 engine right? Everyone will hate it and it won't hold it's value or sell over MSRP. I mean imagine if the Ford GT was a V6.... I bet that car wouldn't sell out or go for double MSRP at auctions. Frankly, the GT-R is a fanboy tuner car. The NSX is better in every way from technology to looks. So the GTR is slightly faster, does anyone really care that street drives these cars?
      At least a company with serious racing roots like McLaren would never do a V6 based vehicle right? I mean that Artura thing? total vaporware.
      You might want to hold on to your socks bud. With all the new fuel and emission laws that are coming down in North America, a lot more cars are going to be smaller displacement engines.

    The MR Dampers are originally developed for the Corvette. The Acura NSX is nice but the cargo space when compared to the C8 is anemic. I sat in one and found the interior claustrophobic. I was impressed with the quiet mode and how the engine would shut down. I found that the 1990's NSX has more of a following than this 2 decade later model. I think they deviated from the original styling. I fear time will show that the reliability will be a problem with all the electronics. Price is another big problem. $200k for an Acura is crazy. The lack of heritage is also another reason. Look at the Corvette which has over 50 years of heritage. I would be afraid to put down $200k and find unavailable parts when repairs are needed. One could buy 2 C8s, one a coupe and the other a hard top convertible, for the price of 1 Acura NSX Hard top only. The corvette C8 also has a GPS 1000 point lift system to lift the car 2 inches to avoid scuffing the front nose. It also did not help that the launch of this new Acura NSX arrived when Ford launched their new Ford GT. I think the Ford GT stole the attention from Acura. This NSX may have sold well if they launched it in 2007 instead of 2016.

    While people tout individualism, in the end we are herding animals. Brand conscious drivers, I would argue, seek acceptance by their peers and looks of admiration from others, not that the NSX doesn't draw looks. It's a beautiful car and a blindingly fast and competent one at that! Perhaps among the country club set the lack of room for a set of clubs is enough to scrub it off people's lists? Maybe have their clubs delivered by courier to the club? That would set them off! But I think you're right, North Americans are very brand conscious as evidenced that all the Japanese introduced their luxury/performance vehicles, at least at first, under different name plates. The rest of the world was just fine with the Honda brand on their cars.

    I do appreciate the the look and technology. But What made the original NSX so special was the relative light weight of the all aluminum body one of the first, aerodynamic styling and simple high winding N/A V6 with everyday reliability.
    What we got is too heavy, overly complicated that made it that much more expensive. IF they would of stuck to a less complicated design they would of sold like crazy. The C8 is proof you don't need complicated, heavy, hybrid technology to make a performance sports car. The proof is in the sales.

You have to realize how long the original was sold and how long we waited for the NSX in its peak form, what we got did not at all jive with what people wanted and that is never good for a product.
