As a film major, something I run into a lot is a lack in motivation for me to produce or come up with something. Like I've proven multiple times before that I am capable but, sometimes I just lose all motivation to work on something and I'm not exactly sure why. Also that feeling of feeling useless or not productive whenever you aren't actively working on or towards something is too true. I am currently experiencing that right now lol. Either way I appreciate these videos you put out Will. It's nice to know that I'm not alone in feeling this way at times.

Imposter syndrome really been hurting hard recently
I'm a parent. I know all about that feeling. Every day as a parent I question myself and wonder if I'm doing a good job or not.
imposter syndrome is wild, it feels impossible to get your foot in the door to get a creative project started due to feelings of "yea im definitely gonna fuck this up", until you do start and then all the sudden the door isnt there.
recently ive been thinking about doing some more introspective projects, and wanted to be more open with my personal expression, but it feels so impossible, like its not even worth the effort just for it to be deemed as cringe in the end anyways.
even outside of balisong related content, nobody will ever know about anything else i make, i try and disconnect myself from it as much as possible and post anonymously, its the only way i can convince myself to post anything like that. in my head, if its not connected to me, then theres nothing to be anxious about.
in regards to "knowing youre good at something but feeling unconfident or doubt yourself", 99% of compliments feel fake, like theres literally no way anyone thinks i can make anything good, and maybe that sounds attention seeking and desperate for reassurance, but its just how it runs through my head. this is the main reason i dont post, ever. its so mentally taxing, feeling like ill never actually get to where i want to be in content creation. but, at the same time, ill never get there with doing nothing, but trying to convince myself is the hardest part.
this is also probably the only time ill put any of this publicly lol.
p.s. trying to sober up also dries up creativity reserves. its apparent which edits i made high if you go through a couple, the difference is night and day.

if i don't draw for literally as short as a week, i get full blown "but what am i doing anyways why bother does anyone care" mindset, and it's always good to remember "yes actually, i am good enough, that's why people keep coming back" as you put it
If I'm being honest, my confidence problems kind of become a self-fulfilling prophecy, I overthink a lot about interactions and situations to the point where I just avoid some or drop out altogether, but you can probably imagine why that makes it worse
I'm glad you're able to talk about this stuff, it's really grounding and humanizing when you realize the people you look up to are... actually just people
An imposter(syndrome) is among us!
PirateSoftware's videos on imposter syndrome really helped me be myself with my friends and such, so I would urge you to take a look.
P.S. I hope Brandon has a good time on his trip! If I remember correctly he's going to New Zealand I hope he has fun over there.

I think it is amazing that you are comfortable talking about this to all of us. I have so quite major confidence issues, I deal with quite bad anxiety and depression and seeing someone I admire talk about mental health is always a great thing. I really get having self-doubt and being able to prove it to yourself is the most important thing. if you can do it and all others see are you being good at what you are supposed to be, it's unlikely they will realise you had any self-doubt about what you are doing. I can't wait for both the collection vids!!
Hi Will. In terms of the self confidence, I get it 110%. I see a therapist at least once a month as one of the reasons. No shame to admit it, but I understand where you’re coming from.
As for your 2024 Bali collection on this channel. If you mentioned the same Bali back in 2023, maybe you can just do a shorter version of your thoughts if nothing much has changed. Could save some time and your voice 👍🏽.

ive got huge imposter syndrome issues with some things but not other things
when it comes to a lot of art stuff, im super anxious about even sharing it with others unless its either behind the guise of being Silly or being something im crazy confident in (regardless of how good i am at the thing)
