    Honestly I think it’s important to just pull the trigger on one of the Balisongs, because balisongs are more of a collection based hobby. Meaning in the end you’ll probably get both or Atleast find something to replace it. Love the vids Will!!!

    I think I would agree. if you’re a beginner in the hobby and are buying your first few balisongs, well you haven’t tried enough different balisongs to even know what your preferences are, so just buy for looks/price.
    Furthermore, if you have a big collection, you may know what you’ll like or dislike, but once you have the perfect balisong that fits your preferences perfectly, then there’s not much point in buying future balisongs that perfectly fit your preferences because you already have a balisong that does that.
    I’m interested to see what Ethan’s take on this is because he seems to flip very much in accordance to his preferences, whilst still liking unique balisongs.

    My other hobby is fighting games, and when someone can't decide on a character the best advice is to pick who they think is cool, because that will make them want to play and improve more. Same/similar philosophy seems to apply!

    This is an excellent problem to have! I remember when I got into flipping and the only options("good" performance) were BRS, Benchmade, and some other small makers who charged an arm and a leg! Awesome that this hobby has become more and more accessible and we now have so many options!

    This is the best advice. Especially for newcomers. I have a collection that consists of live blades and trainers of different sizes, materials, and price points. My favorite one to carry is the Triton. Purely because I love the design and the sound. If you like the way the bali looks, you're going to enjoy the hours of repetitive practice required to improve.

    when i buy one i just think of me using it everyday and if it will withstand the beating its going to receive or if the coating is going to last. What balisong you get depends on where its going to be used and if its going to genuinely do everything you need it to.

    Whenever I see people agonize for days or weeks over what first bali to get (which is strangely common), I also recommend the "whatever looks cool" option. 1. There are so many good options out there to choose from, and 2. It's a first bali, not a last bali.

    I like your video on your view on Balisongs. One recommendation I would make is to also talk about blade bias and handle bias and talk about what tricks people prefer. For example edit lite or calico would be better for someone who want to fan rather than the squiddy. But I really like the video! 👍

    "Buy what's look cool to you" is a great advise for beginner.
    All that "suggestion" about specs, material, neutral or bias... etc, will scare off people who want to join the hobby.
    Look cool, within the budget, that's good enough.

    I think some specifications could be taken into account, if you already know you have a preference in that area. Say you know you don't like heavy balisongs, then if you're deciding between two and one is much heavier, then go with the other one. But besides that, I totally aggree with what you are saying! That was something that was told to me when I was buying my first guitar, just pick one that you like the look of, because if you like how it looks, then you're going to pick it up to play. When you're a beginner with any hobby, or if you haven't experienced a large variety of what the hobby offers, then you aren't going to notice the subtle differences between things at first anyway, but you will always know what looks cool or ugly to you.

    Will if you do anything please get you a hom tempest. It's shorter yes but it has your preference for handle bias to a T. From watching your videos and the balance you like its a must. It's one of the classiest balis and tbh I think you should get one in your collection. You won't regret it. Even stock with the ti spacers you would probably enjoy it most like it with the newer cf spacers he has. Try both spacer sets and see which you like. But I hsve got to say I cannot believe how good the tempest v2 is even in these days. It's also again one of the prettiest balisongs I've ever seen in my life.
    Seems like they are popping off right now seen alot of people getting or selling lately. Usually they aren't around to much.

    I love your view on this and I agree to a certain degree, but also like I think especially if your like me and have very few balis knowing more about the specs and others opinions on the knife are important as when I have the ability to get a new Bali it’s gonna be my only new one for at least a year or two so I really want to make sure I am buying one I will most likely enjoy and part of that is which I stylistically prefer. Which is why I’m in the exact spot this video is on about as whilst saving for a new Bali I’m trying to decide what under £150 Bali I should go for. As I think I speak for most people here I want all of them 😂

    It took me about 2 months to pick my first pricey balisong. After watching countless video reviews, looking at multiple detail pictures, checking Reddit threads and other forums.
    I eventually bit the bullet and bought a Talisong Z Tanto. I liked the rounder handles, the inclusion of jimping, the knurling up the handles, and of course, the tanto blade! Very satisfied with my choice! Eventually bought the Scimitar to add to the collection!

    Will's in the hobby to collect, so his perspective of buy based on looks works for him. Im in the hobby for the flipping, so it doesn't work that way for me. Once I found out what I liked, all balisongs that aren't what I like just sit there, as I tend to pick up the one the flips the best for my style, which for me is theone Orca clone. Having flipped this knife, I only want titanium, heavy, slightly handle bias, and can carry momentum. Anything other than that doesn't interest me. So I would say, take Will's advice here only if you just really want as many balisongs as possible. If youre not a collector, find out what you like as quickly as possible, because it will save you A LOT of money.

    • @RAWCflips
      @RAWCflips 7 місяців тому +1

      Not at all true, sure some people may be into the hobby for different reasons, however Will himself has stated that he is in the hobby not only for the collection and the flipping side of things, but also the communities that can arise from those within the hobby. While not everyone is the same we all have one thing in common, we love balisongs, wether there's a deeper reasoning as to why or simply just because it's "fun toy that do flip flip", we as a community can agree that balisongs are something we enjoy.

    • @LightofRyga
      @LightofRyga 7 місяців тому +1

      @@RAWCflips I didn't say he is ONLY in the hobby to collect. He's here for many reasons, and one of them is to collect, as you can see from looking at his case. So he doesn't care if he gets a balisong that doesn't flip to his preference because it goes into his collection and he's happy to have it. What I'm saying is that if youre not in the hobby to collect, his advice will cost you a lot of money, and possibly aggravation. One thing I've noticed about Will is that he can only see things from his singular perspective. He doesn't account for the fact that other people are different from him.

    i do think this is a hard to beat take on the "what balisong should i buy" beginner question in such a subjective hobby. it's why when someone asks me and they don't specify any balis, i ask for their budget range and give a list based on that rather than just one usually. and of course it's different with experienced people cause at that point you always end up in a conversation about what one vs another feels like
