FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.

-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.

You have to remember that crochet is practice and patience so don't give up, if you feel yourself getting frustrated put it down and go back to it later or even the next day :)

I've been crocheting for over 55 years. Just recently heard about the Magic Circle. Love the look of it and the fact it closes the circle up when needed. However, I have watched numerous videos and was not getting it. Your video was clear, concise, to the point. Thanks for teaching these old fingers a new trick. Now to make some scrubbies.

I'm from the U.S. and you were the first person that I understood when it came to crocheting. Since I watch your videos so much I've gotten so used to the U.K. terminology. Now whenever I watch an American doing a crochet tutorial, I can't understand them! Why can't the terminology just be the same so that we won't get confused lol.

You yarn over and pop the hook into the middle of the circle in the same way as you would make a treble into a normal stitch 😊

For those who are struggling, don't give up-- go through tutorials until you find one that works for you. My advice for learning is to keep it simple. Slip knot , chain, single crochet until you've got it. All the lumpy knotted messes (that nearly all of us created at first) can be ripped out or cremated, depending upon your mood.

Omg omg today was my first day trying the magic circle and i got it chained onto my hook!!! Now to figure out how to actually make a crochet. 😂 i've only been working for 3 days, but it's small wins like this that keep me going! Keep trying, even if you wanna give up. It takes practice ❤

I DID IT AFTER 7 MONTHS! I’ve been trying to do a magic circle since February, and what really helped was being patient and watching alooooot of tutorials. First I learned how to make a square and a regular line of stitches, then I did a granny square, and with all those in mind I came back and was able to figure this out! ☺️😁

I know , I did too . Put it all down and went for a walk instead 😂 After repeated tries I practiced first with big hook and thick wool . This helped me understand what goes where first rather than using thin hook and yarn to perfectly produce an item from a pattern. Keep going , you got this x

Kiana Gannaban Aww! Please tell me your joking?! I’m so sorry! I understand it can take awhile to learn, i’m a beginner too! I haven’t mastered this either. I would start with making coasters and blankets before I move into this stuff. I’ve made 2 blankets and a couple coasters. I promise if you just keep trying, it’ll all work out. Just so you know, CHUNKY YARN that will be your friend.

I want to Thank-You for the wonderful instructions on how to make the Magic Circle. You have explained it so eloquently. I've used the old method chaining 2, and placing the stitches in 1st. stitch. It leaves a nasty hole and doesn't look finished. I'm back crocheting after 50 yrs. of a busy life and not doing any crocheting, I've found how to do this the easy way for me. Thanks again.........

I just want to say a big thank you for your brilliant tutorials and for someone at the tender age of 70 and very new to crocheting I am having so much fun and enjoying myself immensely. Who says you can't teach an old dog( well in my case and old cat because I'm a cat person) new tricks. Looking forward to learning loads more.
I bought a little badger crochet kit from Hobbycraft the other day, because it was a badger and it was cute. Never done crochet before but was reassured by the packet that there's full and easy to follow instructions... my gosh they are not! XD unless you've done this before.
Anyhow, long story short I repeatedly tried to follow your guidance and the instructions but kept failing, so I (mostly) ignored the instructions and just followed your guide and my gosh! I did it! Made this cute circle! And I think I get it! :D

This is the first time I've actually been able to crochet a magic ring, so thanks for that. A lot of the ladies who go to my knitting group can't make it either, so I'll tell them to watch your tutorial.

You have shown us the most easiest way to create the magic circle better than anyone I've seen yet, and believe me, I have watched many showing how to do this, and they made it appear so hard. And being that I am left-handed, it has taken me many attempts to get this correct, but FINALLY I have done it! I am so proud of myself and so grateful for your help. Think I need to take a break from crochet for a while. I have made several things. Some good some o.k. I am so slow at crochet. Ready to boost my speed up a bit, but its tough when you are always interrupted. I also need to break down and stock up on some appropriate yarn for some things I would like to try again. Just need to step back for a little while get my yarn and settle in on one thing I would like to keep practicing on. I want to move past that the "it doesn't look to bad stage into the hey that looks awesome stage." I have only been crocheting about five months so I am happy with my progress just ready to improve some things to make my finished work look better.

Thank you for showing how easy making a magic circle is. It looked so complicated in a book I got as a present recently to make toys and other projects.
I haven't tried it yet but will open your video and follow it when I start making my crotchet toys.

First few times I got to the initial ring only for the treble crochet part to fry my brains so much that I had to do a swatch of treble crochet just to reassure myself that I could still do it!
After about half an hour-45 mins. I managed my (very ugly) version of the magic ring. It's a start and thanks to your video that I've done it at all. Hope I'll be able to do it by heart soon! Thank you!

... And I can now do the basic magic ring by heart thanks to this video! I also followed a basic heart tutorial and made an admittingly uneven heart by the end, but it was basically recognisable. Practise makes perfect, step by step etc. Thank you!
