Instead of reducing the amount of XP gain I would add a max so they couldn't just keep doing it. For example you have 98/100 Xp from this level or something?
It does kind of work like that. After a while XP gain is really slow, so to earn enough to buy any skill You would need to spend hours repeating levels, especially the first ones. It should be enough to discourage grinding. On my side, this approach seems more cohesive, as enemies always drop XP.
Amazing video and the game seems really fun, one thing i noticed is that i kept going back to rehear what you said cuz the accent is kinda strong, i would suggest adding subtitles to the video so its easier to follow! Good luck on your gameDev journey!
Thanks! I will check the auto-generated subtitles and fix what wasn't generated correctly. I hope that accent will get better with time. Unfortunately, I don't have the opportunity to speak English other than those devlogs.
I think I gave up this behaviour when I realised how immature it was. The irony being that it would be quite prudent in real life i.e. for a rainy day. Games always include provision for bad decisions I've found.
I've never thought about this in that way, but it makes perfect sense. In life, I'm pretty risk-averse so this can explain some of my usual play style.

Nice video mate
looks like a fun game! halloween is my favorite holiday and i am in love with its entire aesthetic. cannot wait to play this game this fall season
Thanks a lot! Well, mine too, I was listening to This Is Halloween for months on repeat, while making this game. Hope You like it!
Btw you should add a time slowing powerup
This is more of minimizing the "unfun". Most of which are self-afflicted. So protecting players from themselves, some might say.
Sounds like some great designing
Thanks! Still, I have a lot to learn.
