Regarding that last little dimple that wanted to go back in when he released pressure off of it: while the plastic is still hot and flexible hold the dented plastic in the position you want and have a helper put cool water on it then it will stay in place
You can also use a large smooth garden pebble or a golf ball to pop it out from behind the shell while a helper pours cool water over the affected area to set it. Works like a charm and saves you a few grand!
Changing temperature quickly will make almost any material crack. (That's why they specifically tell you NOT to do so for pots, pans, glass, ect). Cool water after boiling is a huge no.
If I had a dollar for every time someone mentions a hair dryer or heat gun. Not everyone has that. This is what makes this video a hack! Everyone’s got water to boil.

Just a reminder for new viewers. This will not work for ALL dents on ALL cars. It all depends on the placement of the dent and if you can get get to it from behind and push it out. As for the plunger trick, in my case, the dent was in a spot that the plunger could precisely fit and suction to, then pull out. Also has to do with the fact that the part of the vehicle damaged was sheet metal. You would never be able to suction out a huge dent in a bumper or tiny hail sized dents on the roof or hood with a plunger. A lot of the success from this trick comes from using logic.
Linh Pham This is THE question asked the most and my answer is, no it did not affect the paint on THIS car. I cannot speak for ANY other car out there. This is solely an “at your own risk” type of tip.

going to try it on my daughters' ford focus those other idiots are just jealous making stupid remarks you can clearly see that it works she has a 2007 not ready to throw money away to give a dent
I wanted to provide a detailed explanation on how this works. The video shows the hack working on THIS particular vehicle, a 2005 Toyota Camry, I can't speak for every other single make and model vehicle out there. The area where the first dent was pulled out using a plunger is sheet metal and of course the back bumper I push out is plastic. If your vehicle is made of sheet metal and/or plastic, this could work but it also depends on the size and placement of your dent(s). Moral of the video: HEAT makes sheet metal and plastic more malleable to help get dents out along with applying some type of pressure; either by pulling or pushing them out. You can use whatever source of heat you feel comfortable with; heat gun, heat lamp, blow dryer, flame thrower, gasoline and a match, I don't care. What makes this a HACK is that most households have access to tap water, a pot and a stove to boil it. Cost of repair, maybe 10 minutes of my time opposed to what a body shop would rip you off for.

Hell body work is easy anyways unless your pulling frames or fixing things like wrinkled quarter panels that have to be replaced. Most of the time in small fender benders you can do they work yourself. We basically taught ourselves how to paint to somebody gave us like 40 gallons of paint and we used a old junk car to perfect our technique. We had runs and orange peal on the first few sprays but we would just DA it and spray it again eventually we got results that where awesome. Then we moved on to fading so we could learn to match paint. I honestly believe we learned quicker with the free paint then if we had paid $1000’s to go to school for it. My old man had worked at GM painting new cars so he gave us a good base knowledge to start with.

I watched this same video today and used step by step for my car and it really worked. I was charged $1,000 at the body shop for the dent. I am glad that I didn’t fall for it. Thanks for the video.
My neighbor backed into my car (09 vibe). Body shop quoted me 3700 bucks to fix a dent in the quarter panel and bumper. Ima def try this with some suction cups and a heat gun
@@Matrix_Uncovered worked a bit. The damage wasnt on the plastic bumper guard like the vid, but the all metal quarter panel. Heat def helped, but took me 8 hours to get it to be semi decent
guy at the smash and repair shop : "wow. Car is badly damaged. We need to replace the bumper, a few hours of work on the side. This will cost $800 at the very least" TeamFamily : "I need hot water and 2'14 of time"
Never thought of using hot water. I’ve always used a heat gun or hair dryer. Seems you get better and a more even coverage with water. Not to mention when I’ve used the plunger I always had to oil the perimeter for suction and the water does this naturally. Nicely done.
This works. I pulled out the entire bumper, was standing on the dent and trying my best to push it into position but it would not work. Using boiling water pooled on the inside of the bumper, the bumper started to move firmly and easily. No damage to the pain otherwise. Its incredible.
@GirlyGirl Hippy it isn't. The car is broken, they pay, and you do whatever you want with the car from that very moment. They pay because you pay them and you have an agreement. If the car wasn't broken, it would be fraud to claim money for it.

carolinaAzz555 I wasn’t mad dumbass 😂😂 and your not stating the truth your just being too sensitive about a guy saying he does good things for his wife
You can do the same thing with a hair dryer or a heat gun. A propane torch will work on the sheet metal. Just have to be careful with the heat gun so that you don't end up burning the bumper.
My brother bought a nissan altima for $500 because the entire roof was caved in... I LITERALLY SAID WATCH THIS,.... I put my arm in the car and used the palm of my hand to smack upwards on the ceiling of the car about midsection where the domelight is... INSTANTLY it looked like a brand new car.... all it took was one solid whack.
IamAnoobiecheez I know, I once drove around with a dent in a door panel for 6 months thinking I might get it sorted when I had the money until a friend suggested using a sink plunger. I did and it was fixed in a second. I was so happy.
I'm here because my lil bro just knocked the corner wall of the gate with company car and we trying to fix the dent and this worked like a charm. Thank you 😊
Wow!! I think this will work on our car, the placement of the dent seems to be perfect! We had a guy back out and hit us in a Lowes parking lot about 6 months ago. We tried to go through his insurance but the vehicle he was driving, was NOT covered on the insurance info he gave us! What could we do...sue him in small claims court? He didn't have a lot of money as we don't either so thought this was just a lost cause. GREAT video, going to give this a go!! Thanks...Hugs from Texas!! xx
I haven't got that kind of plunger yet plus everyone caught a chest cold... just didn't get to it yet. Ugh! I will let ya know with an update. Fingers crossed it will work...I'm very optimistic!! Hugs from Texas : )
Man I can't believe people's posts on this, just unreal. Guys, the first part of the car or the first dent is on metal, the bumper or second dent is plastic, hot water makes both of them easier to deal with when trying to remove the dent. What the hell is wrong with some of you?
TeamFamily Yeah, the Beatles are pretty great. My Dad and Brother are way more into them, I kind of picked up through them but I've always liked their music, and their songs are challenging and fun to play. Good little riffs to keep around. Someone asked me to play working class hero the other day. I think I'll get into that, then I'll figure out more life hacks to beating the system. Haha. I can't believe how crazy some of these people are but then again???? I always appreciate good UA-cam video's.
My daughter did the same damage to my car's bumper. She came home and explained the situation, and when I went to look, there was no damage. The dent in the plastic had simply popped out due to the drive home over potholes .
What really helped me, since hitting it wasn't working, was I wedged my hammer into the right place and just used the lever action of it to push my dent back out. So helpful, thank you mucho!
This really does work. It doesn't come out perfect, but sometimes a bumper sticker covers it all up and it looks new again. Make sure you use a non offensive, non political, or non religious one so some jerk doesn't key your car.
You can do the same thing using hair dryers or a space heater. You just have to be careful not to get the heading device to close to the plastic bumper as it could bubble the finish.
I mean he's really not an idiot... What a camera and this video doesn't show is how shit your dent is still gonna look. I've been a paint tech in autobody for a decade and basically.. Anyone that knows how a paint job/body job is supposed to look laughs at anyone that thinks backyard bodywork looks good. If you want it done right, you pay a professional... Or.. Don't try and act like hot water even compares. Respect the trade. Idiot.
Peugeot 406 I kinda feel like I already clarified my experience. Sure though, I shouldn't talk shit.. Wouldn't wanna go around making a fool of myself by calling ppl idiot for no reason. That'd be embarrassing. Idk what I was thinking, how could someone in autobody even compare to a mechanic when it comes to body work.
Robert Johnson yeah you said you are a paint technician not an auto body specialist. Stay in your paint booth and quit acting like you know something special. Your job is to spray what your told, you just hear the gossip from the body specialists lol
@@GoBuckeyes554 in my ford focus the dent was rear bottom corner it was easy to reach under the bumper and push. You I imagine theres a cover where your hand cant reach to get the dent out my advice get help from someone to remove the bumper safely so they know how to put back unless you know how in screw the side cover I never did this so cant help you much sorry
Excellent trick. Tried a couple times myself. Sadly I bought a Crown Victoria so im not sure if it'll have the same effect on the rigid metal body. If i ever get dinged I'll try, though!
The thing about this though is if you don't have any experience in paintless dent repair and you pull it to hard you're definitely gonna cause high spots and you'll see it. If you do it with a metal body make sure you put cold water on it after only If the paint isn't cracked. Also don't attempt to try this with an aluminum body because aluminum and metal are two different things. metal has more of a memory and goes back to where it was originally created whereas aluminum goes from one dent to another to another and ends up looking like someone kicked and punched your car over that small majority. to test if you have an aluminum body, place a magnet over the car. If it sticks its metal and if it doesn't it's aluminum.
Bojan Bijelic I think Camrys come standard with dents because the people who buy them at least in my country Australia are Migrants that can't exit their driveway without hitting something.

@@Zippytez did it work broski?
@@Matrix_Uncovered worked a bit. The damage wasnt on the plastic bumper guard like the vid, but the all metal quarter panel. Heat def helped, but took me 8 hours to get it to be semi decent
@@Zippytez ah I’m needing to work on the metal panel too. I’ll probably just accept the dent is part of life now.
@@Matrix_Uncovered you may be able to remove the plastic panels inside and bang from the inside, that's what I had to do

Exactly, I fixed a dent just by repeatedly punching it from the opposite side of the dent. Didn’t think of using boiling water but same thing applies.
Misael Toral my dad would use a hammer and just beat the shit out of the dent from the inside out lmao

Never thought of using hot water. I’ve always used a heat gun or hair dryer. Seems you get better and a more even coverage with water. Not to mention when I’ve used the plunger I always had to oil the perimeter for suction and the water does this naturally. Nicely done.
Every car should come standard with a pot and a plunger......water comes separately.
JPLMONEY23 haha
What a gip!
This works. I pulled out the entire bumper, was standing on the dent and trying my best to push it into position but it would not work. Using boiling water pooled on the inside of the bumper, the bumper started to move firmly and easily. No damage to the pain otherwise. Its incredible.
Great video but I hate how that last little dent wouldn't give in lol
That's the cliffhanger for the next episode

You can do the same thing with a hair dryer or a heat gun. A propane torch will work on the sheet metal. Just have to be careful with the heat gun so that you don't end up burning the bumper.

CaptainCringe heat actually softens metal so it works on metal panels too.

Man I can't believe people's posts on this, just unreal. Guys, the first part of the car or the first dent is on metal, the bumper or second dent is plastic, hot water makes both of them easier to deal with when trying to remove the dent. What the hell is wrong with some of you?
Stephen Klick Dude , I've been trying to figure that same thing out for the last month or so! haha
Stephen Klick Ah and I see another Beatles fan as well. It's no wonder you got this right away. 👊🏻✌🏻

My Dad and Brother are way more into them, I kind of picked up through them but I've always liked their music, and their songs are challenging and fun to play. Good little riffs to keep around. And to think that I paid 800USD to someone to get that fixed Pfff!!...
I'd say it worked ok for the small dent but it wasn't gonna smooth out that bumper issue.
Robert Johnson yeah you said you are a paint technician not an auto body specialist. Stay in your paint booth and quit acting like you know something special. Your job is to spray what your told, you just hear the gossip from the body specialists lol
Robert Johnson respect the trade of filling in a hole and smoothing it over? Umm, I think not.

Excellent trick. Tried a couple times myself. Sadly I bought a Crown Victoria so im not sure if it'll have the same effect on the rigid metal body. If i ever get dinged I'll try, though!
Finally!!! A youtube video that is useful!!!
That's incredible!
Does this mess up the paint or clear-coat that bad ? I saw where it was a bit messed up, but it looked a lot better than having the dents
