Should improvements come from the employees or management? How NOT to Engage Employees in Problem Solving and Improvement: Healthcare Harry learns a lesson when he tries to have Chrissy implement a new scheme he has devised for processing claims. In this video we watch how Harry handles this situation using the typical "classical management" approach. Later, Harry corrects his approach using a Lean Management style. The traditional approach is a top down approach whereby managers "know best" what improvements to make and force feed those improvements to the front lines. This does not value the employees; the front line team members will not buy in to such an approach. The Lean principles of Continuous Improvement and "Respect for People" require engagement from all employees. Kaizen must involve everyone everyday.
