      No Plaster? Not going to give anywhere near the quality finish that people are looking for.

    • @StephenButlerOne
      @StephenButlerOne Місяць тому +1

      @@paulclarke3274yes and no. We in the UK love to do a full plaster, but over in America that's how they do it and I'm assuming they get a solid finish.
      The results all depends on how much effort you put into the fill and sand stage. The difference is anyone can fill and sand, if they have patients, few people can plaster. Anyone can nail the full and sand.
      What puzzles me a bit is the external corners. They didn't show their process there, and didn't mention any angle beads in the costing. (Or I missed that).
      I'm assuming they don't use them, but your want your seem of your plaster to be on the sides, shadow would hide a lot then.
      But your still have the issue with how easily the corners could damage. But I suppose you can always fill and sand any damage out.
      Your best bet is to go to your local pub, and ask the first plaster that comes in, how good his apprentice is, and offer him a foreigner for a few quid. Cost you what? £80 for a Saturday afternoon for a young labour to knock that out. That's what I'd do.

    *edited to say I changed to a 3 sided fire, but fml, hammer drill, wood screws etc and they will not go through the cls timber (done pilot hole in main bit of wood) not even got passed making the base yet...im dreading it coming to fixing to the wall as its solid concrete wall and ceiling...any advice pleaseeeeeee? 😁😁

    • @boyasaka
      @boyasaka 23 дні тому

      @@scotschik do not use hammer action when drilling the cls
      Make sure your using a WOOD drill bit to drill hole in your cls
      Then switch to masonary drill bit for the wall
      Any standard WOOD drill bit will go instantly through cls
      ( a drill bit for metal will drill a hole but will go through must slower )

    • @gotmunchiez
      @gotmunchiez 3 місяці тому

      @@homeimprovementsI'd say the price is pretty similar. Angle beads and a bag of multi finish are a little bit cheaper than corner tape and a tub of jointing compound. A couple of jointing knives are a little bit cheaper than a hawk, trowel and whisk.
      Joint and fill is definitely easier for a beginner to get a decent result though.
