Normally to evade, you must first rotate your character to the desired direction and then press the 'B". With valor mode, you don't need to rotate your character first. You can evade in any direction by simultaneously using the L stick and "B".
A shame that this game isn't being played much anymore, so I hear. Back before Rise Sunbreak came out, I loved using this build. It's powerful enough that a team of four, three using near-optimal Valor HBG and one using a status gun, can take down Bloodbath EX in less than 90 seconds. But the most frequent use of this setup was the special coal farming event quest with a subquest to hunt a Brachydios. This particular Brachy hit as hard as a G-Rank Hyper, but defeating it netted you a TON of Timeworn and/or Enduring Charms, and an even halfway competent team can finish this part in two minutes from start to Brachy's defeat. It all depended on how fast the status gunner could work...
Im trying to get into this style. I was practicing with the gore HBG. My normal 2 shots were firing at a faster pace in siege mode. But my Pierce 2 shots didnt seem to go as fast. I thought maybe its recoil? I see a lot of runs use PS 1 so I dont know if thats overall better? Do you need recoil down for PS 2 to work or am I missing something?
Pierce needs average for level 1 and some recoil for p2-3. That's why you get recoil. Pierce 1 is usually better with a few exceptions were p3 is best. I go over the bowgun options in part 4 if you're looking for sets
Thanks for this. I was gonna start playing MHGU after playing through World and Rise. I would like to ask: how does LBG compare to HBG? I'm not sure which one to pick.
Overall, it deals a lot less damage, but makes up for it by being easier to pick up, having far better ammo conservation and having a ton of viable options in styles and ammo types. HBG mostly focuses on common raw ammos and little outside of that is useful, whereas LBG can do a ton of cool stuff with status, internals, elementals, clust and crag. I use it a lot and very frequently, but I think there isn't as much to say about the high tech because there isn't as much and other people have covered it. MaiLBG has a ton of runs using niche setups and a stream where they showed off LBG tech and how to practice. It's not a scripted video, but well worth watching if you plan on getting good at it.
Very comprehensive guide. You can effectively learn this weapon just watching this. I can't imagine how much time went to make this

Honestly, I think my worst habit I picked up was power reloading. I regularly sheathe my weapon in 3U/p3rd/4U because I think I can valor sheathe.
