This video barely scratches the surface on the topic of shoulder slope. I talk in-depth about it in my online course "Mastering Garment Ease". I am astounded. I had noticed that when I tried to get the shoulder seam correct on muslins, my front shoulder seemed to want a slight curve in the seamline, but because I never see a curve in patterns I always corrected it. This is the first time I've ever seen this and thank you! Just ordered your book.
I'm so glad the video was helpful and resonated with your experience! It's amazing how those small details can make such a difference. It's great you found something that clicked, and it's great you ordered the book! I hope it continues to support you on your sewing journey.
So glad you presented this video - great information and it made me take a closer look at my shoulder slope. I've been learning to draft patterns and discovered I have more forward shoulders and my front low shoulder point is 2" lower than my high neck/shoulder point. And it is very much a straight transition from one end to the other (not concave or convex). I agree that getting the right fit on your shoulders plays a large part in having your garment hang well on your body. Thank you for your time and knowledge.
Gina, I have the diagonal drag lines on the back of my slopper when I set in a sleeve. I did pinch out 1/2 at the shoulder. Should I make this adjustment on my slopper? Thank you this video was helpful, my name is Gina too!
Hi Gina! It's always nice meeting other Gina's! :) Yes, if you have a diagonal dragline, then it's a sign the the shoulder slope is not correct for your shape. I recommend updating your sloper. If the across back area is a bit small after you do that adjustment, then I recommend the correction on pages 102-105 in The Fitting Book.

This is BRILLIANT! I’ve never had anyone differentiate between the shoulder bone and low point shoulder! Wow!👏👏👏
Sounds like you had an "Aha!" moment! I'm so happy this helped clarify that :)
That point is actually the acromion process. It is the top of the scapula (shoulder blade).
Thanks for sharing the technical terms :)
