Great video Vanessa. Thats a good plan to have. i stocked up on camping gear because i felt a serious situation coming. Lived in a large city during that C 19, was anxiety, felt as if groups of people would break in and rob supplies, food. During that pandemic I formed an escape plan, bought camping gear and items to sustain a basic level of shelter, then i lost one job, over a few months became evicted, gotten a job at Amazon, but ended up homeless, camped in my car, saving every penny , for about a year lived in my car and worked as much as i could. I bought a cheap piece of land on the other side of the nation. had bought small solar panel stuff, a RV battery, and got my car ready to bug out, I drove three days, sleeping in my car at highways rest stops, sort of stealth camping, i got to my new property and pitched my tent, had gotten work in the town 8 miles away. I build a 12x32ft cabin, am homesteading, entirely stocked , have chickens, garden which i harvested and canned. Rain catchmentg, my electricity is full solar power, have a 100 gallon propane tank, that will last myself for at least 3 years. It wasnt because i just wanted to be the cool guy, i just knew that things would go hard, bad. I believe people out there in any nation, that we follow what other nations have done, we need to prep, make a plan, figure out what you will do, where to go, how to survive. This is real. For many, they may not have such availble items and food supplies very soon here. This with Israel has people spooked , the preppers here in the states are gaining momentum in their stocking and preparing.

Also a bottle good multivitamins.Maybe a 60 capsule 90 capsule supply. Even if you stretch them way out by taking one a week, it is better than not having anything if you're in a survival situation when your food supply is iffy. And when I say 1 per week I mean if you are getting at least something to eat. But they will help supply nutrients and vitamins and minerals that you don't get in your stressed survival food search situation.

I use my Himiway Cruiser as a bugout vehicle. Have been looking at the trailers, but they are expensive. I have panniers, a top bag, a bag on the front rack abd water bottles are one on each fork at the moment. Great idea with the 100w solar panel under the trailer, the Jackery panels are very cumbersome. I use hammocks, so the tarp is fast to deploy, giving me cover from rain fast. One bit of advice I would give is, as the temperature drops in winter, take out your battery, wrap it in clothes and have it in the sleeping bag with you...batteries hate cold. Great video and ebikes are the way forward for non drivers and for getting into woodland areas...they can mean the difference between bugging in and bugging out in a SHTF situation such as civil unrest

    Good presentation 👍
I would consider a larger coffee pot (3-4L) for boiling water, it wouldn’t weigh much and other things could be packed inside for transport. Also more Cordage and a selection of nails and wood screws for bushcraft projects. Stuff energy bars and protein bars everywhere. All the foods that you can carry. A chair and table can be crafted, I would opt for more food, tools and supplies like duct tape, super glue, nails and more cordage. A small pair of binoculars, snare wire, paper plan for traps and snares. Two changes of clothing. Don’t forget your gas mask.

  • @Mister510

That's a nice setup Vanessa, thanks for showing us! It looks like the trailer's tongue is long enough that you could put the folding solar panel on top of the storage box if you had something to go underneath it, so it doesn't fold. Maybe a couple old tent poles and some zip ties or Velcro strips? In most situations it wouldn't matter if it hangs off the back, maybe it could be centered on the box and hang off both ends? If you end up in tight woods or something you might need to fold and stow it, but you wouldn't be getting direct sun there anyway.

Some great gear there, particularly the bike. I would suggest that in a serious survival situation that you would be able to scale down your kit even further, only keeping the essentails. In such an event speed and range would be essential and worth it in exchange for a few less items.

A secondary option, which i have and have tested a number of times, left it outside setup for months to test it, a double person hammock. has a full bug net, rain fly and came with tree straps. I love my hammock , if there are trees i strongly suggest to sleep off the ground. I replace the rain fly with a larger camoflauge tarp to give me a covered are for my gear and camp site, for shade and keep out of rain.

You are doing a lot of things right, but some very wrong-too much weight! For example, that big flashlight is too heavy, and you can get a 1000lm light as big as your thumb, chargeable with USB. That Camuillus Carnivore has no purpose. The Silkyboy saw is all you need, with MAYBE a Fiskars X7 hatchet. The poncho is too bulky, but a THIN tarp with a hood is not a bad idea, A good waterproof shell and a puffy is good enough and much lighter and less bulky. I could go on, but you should study ultralight backpacking or bikepacking. I STRONGLY advise that you do a bike tour with a regular bike to learn about weight. My gravel bike weighs about 25 lbs, but everything I need to live just takes about another 25lbs. Food must be replenished, but otherwise I could ride indefinitely,
I like and own an e-bike I I share your naive hopes. Mine only weighs 35 lbs and just has a 7.5A battery and 350W motor. I can go 80kms, but only because I am a strong cyclist. Your bike alone could not do more than 80k, unless you are powered by the Jackery (somehow) all the time. But the solar charging time would be excessive. You need 36V or 48V which means you would need 3 or 4 solar panels in series, at 50W-100W each. They would be too large and heavy to carry. It would take hours to charge in full sun. It is still not practical.
Thousands of bike tourists travel independently and indefinitely, going about 100km every day. Learn from them. Start with the minimum and increase as required. Now I use a small, light tripod chair and a flat aluminum 'table' with 3" legs. But to balance that I use a 1oz alcohol stove which also burns food sticks, and ultralight everything else. I am still very comfortable. And never exhausted.

But when they do, you can say, "dry out" in English, or even use the fancy word, "evaporate."🧐

This is really cute and everything, but.... if you forgot anything??... yes, how does this evacuate you, your 3 children, and all necessary clothing, food and supplies? Not to mention much in the way of self defense weapons to protect you, your family in the woods, and all your supplies. If it was a real emergency, those forests would be crawling with people looking for food and shelter well within 24 hours. Within 72 hours, people would be killing each other for tarps, blankets, food clothing... anything. Your thick woods would no longer have any hiding places.
So respectfully, nice bike, cute trailer, for a close by weekend camp.

I'm working on training my AmStaff(pitbull) to pull a dog cart or wagon. She carries her own food and dishes already along with some other redundancies. A bike wouldn't do me much good here in the mountains. A canoe or a kayak maybe but in most situations I would take my truck as far as I can and we would walk from there. I have caches around the province near places I frequent with extra consumables and basic tools. As well as multiple 'bugout camps' in those areas too. My truck contains a 'Bugout bag' as well as my EDC bag. The things I think you forgot were things like a shovel, I didn't see toilet paper or extra clothes, fishing/hunting gear. I would also like to ask what you would do with your children/pets?

I love that you're going from "you ain't gonna get far with that electric bike when the power is down" to "you can basically go anywhere without needing to get anything from anyone" after showing the big solar panel, super interesting!
Did you test how long it takes to fully recharge the bike?
And do you bring a backup-backpack to continue without the bike if necessary?
Also, be careful with that lock, that type of lock is not very good against bike thieves. You should be able to find some videos of people testing that out. A good hardened chain lock is normally a lot better. (Abus makes good ones normally for instance. Look for ART-certification, I think it's a Dutch certification, but they might also show it in Germany).

Maybe consider an alarm and a couple more locks for your bike. They have available locks that have an alarm integrated within as well. Also a bike cover or a motorcycle cover for your bike and maybe even for your trailer as well. Of course bring fishing gear as well. If you have a weapon bring ammunition, binoculars, crossbow and bolts, more Para cord, screws and nails, solar blankets, gloves, carabiners, magnets, bailing wire, rope, zip lock baggies, trash bags, pencil and paper, 5 gallon bucket or two. Citronella candles, sun screen, hat, rolling papers, hee, hee, hee… most importantly a guitar, harmonica, accordion, fiddle, banjo, kazoo, washboard, humongous upright bass, drum set, whatever, lol… jk take care…

An alternative to a heavy ebike, is a mountain bike ebike conversion kit, this means if the motor dies, you can just ditch the battery pack mechanism and have a standard mtb.....the one i have which was £450 has a 250w motor and a rage of 26 miles, so while smaller battery, can charge overnight or from batetry pack, also the pedal assist would be easier as lighter....but a heavy large ebike would have so much better cargo...like the massive front rack featured, so much cargo on a lightweight mtb becomes very top heavy and unwieldy...

its not self sufficient when theres no natural predators like wolves, leopard and tigers. If so... if you still like to live primirively. Farming your vege and livestock is truly more efficient and sustainable.
life is not for survival but why be sustainable to save time for people to have time to think to understand the world. if the goal is to survive alone? why not join a hunter ang gather tribe.
E bike dont last long... instead of solar? using a small water mill as a source of power. You wont be needing extra weight at once... you can gradually add more power storage since the your power source wont stop producing power. Wet cell battery is ideal since it is easier repair and less exensive than dry cell. im sure you gona be near a river right?

I think ebike would be just fine for prepping bike. What's nice about nice about ebikes you can comfortably ride with throttle or pedal assist for a while and ride longer distance with pedal assist. You can pedal like a normal bike you can still go. I would carry a second battery and when one gets too low to move the bike you can charge that battery while using the second battery with solar power. I would do combination of throttling and pedal assist and regular pedaling.

Communication if often the most difficult problem to overcome, with no electricity just how you'll get information about the dangers that made you bug out in the first place
and they're continued escalation or reduction, seems only handled by solar powered devices connecting to ham radio, otherwise it's more expensive satellite cellular service,
does anyone have other methods ? (It's only a matter of time before a dirty bomb is released somewhere in the United States)

Impressive amount of kit Vanessa but like all prepping how long will it last, how many for and in real situations when you need to use it how long before it gets stolen by people in panic with no intentions of being friendly when it comes to dog eat dog. When maybe tens of thousands maybe homeless and wondering about in the countryside also trying to survive. Where they can and do turn into savage animals themselves, like many the same having lost all they own and maybe family members.
