Loved the movie! No forced identity politics, no forced political propaganda, and excellent action sequences with a great soundtrack. This is how you make a movie, especially a sequel to a classic.
Top gun is the first memory I have of a Blockbuster. For that matter maybe one of my very first movie memories. It's definitely the first French kiss I ever saw on the screen. I remember I played with my matchbox jets for years after the movie. Pretending as if I was Maverick protecting the skies. Now over 30 years later I'm getting the movie that I not only wanted. But it looks to be above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. There has never been a movie I've been so excited about. It's not only a classic to the world. It is a huge part of my childhood. And with everything going on in the world. A 2-hour awesome jet fueled trip back may be just what I need.

hehe, with DCS we have a pretty good idea what the original top gun movie would have looked like if the digital imax cameras were around at the time.
The first "Top Gun" is a defining 80's movie so I doubt the sequel can top it --- but I will go see it and find out !!
You may want to revisit this post after you see it. It is better than the original, and I'm a superfan. They finally recreate that feeling we used to get in the theater from a blockbuster. I honestly think this movie is going to help save the theater-going industry. We need more films like this. It's a masterpiece!
It honestly is better then the first, I was obssessed with the first movie as a child and this blows it away.
