Conan casually talking about a Simpsons episode "about a monorail" like it isn't one of the best things ever put on TV.
Beethoven: "I wrote a couple of symphonies."
Even as a kid from Europe I noticed that the monorail episode is somewhat special. Imagine my surprise years later when I discovered Conan´s behind it!
By casually, I think you meant constantly. He's always talking about working on the Simpsons.
@@northernsnow6982he did spend quite a few years there and it influenced his approach to comedy, so is it really that shocking? Conan is absolutely the last person that I would accuse of bragging.
@@northernsnow6982 Not enough. We want a deep dive on it. Some serious jibber jabber.
@falxonPSN Just because you don't see him bragging doesn't mean he doesn't. I remember seeing him bring it up when it wasn't relevant to the conversation. He may try to do it modestly. However, he is still bragging. Especially when he brings it up by saying, "I don't know if you know this, but I worked on the simpsons." Then he proceeds to talk about the monorail episode, as it is his favourite one to brag about. He has done this more than once. I tried finding a clip of it, but all I can find is the plethora of guests, who have also been on The Simpsons, that he will talk about it with. It's often as if he was the one getting interviewed about The Simpsons, when it's him that has a guest on his talkshow.
Holy crap that George Takei impression was on point!
I think Conan’s impressions are a bit underrated and lost in the myriad of other hilarious stuff he does!
@@Govindaclass I keep forgetting how good he is at it! Every time is a pleasant surprise
I guarantee there's no other 2-time Oscar winner out there who'd be this much of a sport.
Denzel, Washington
@@Baja2424 Who's Washington Denzel?
Actually anyone would do that for money. What world do you live in?
The funnier part is Tom Hanks is more than likely the one who came up with the idea. Conan has said he often shows up with a sketch in mind.
Not everyone is as serious as people think. A lot of people would do that for the laughs.
This was hilarious. Both are so freaking sharp.
Tom Hanks in “A League of their Own.” One of my favorite movies! 😃
Crying? There’s no crying in baayyyyssseeballl!
I love Tom Hanks and Conan O'Brien!!!!
Wow that went perfectly!
This was like the first or second episode of Conan (2011) I remember watching it the day it aired.
4:27 Conan moving his chair a few inches further to the right, as if he knew ..... 😆
e also closes his eyes.
It was Leonard Nimoy who ended up being in that monorail episode, I wonder if George Takei made that possible.
There should have been a second splash on Conan!
Agreed. I guess they had the rest of the show to do so not as easy, but the bit was crying out for that
legendsss, love both of themm
I seem to recall a time when they were talking about shooting stars, and Tom Hanks asked if they could make them appear on the backdrop, only to be then hit by a giant foam asteroid. But last time I looked I couldn't find the clip.
That was awesome.
I still can't believe Conan had a beard at one time...
More than one time
it fits him really well
Houston We Have A Problem!
Classic 😂😂
I've heard different stories about Julia Roberts. Some say she was a nightmare to work with (like on Hook) and some say she was pleasant (like Tom says here). Wonder if she grew out of her diva phase or if Tom is being nice.
Probably Tom being nice. He's a class act and would never bring down another.
Two people could work with me and have polarized opinions of me. If they appreciate hard work and doing a proper job, they will really like working with me.
Most people are lazy and don't actually care about their jobs. These people hate working with me. They either have to work better around me or look bad working beside me.
Polar Express was the movie that first introduced me to Tom Hanks
For me it was an almost forgettable made-for-TV movie called "Mazes and Monsters." I remember it only because it was so bad. Seriously, it was awful. But, Tom Hanks is still one of my favorite people.
Really he has a lot of movies he has plenty movies before Polar express
Any thoughts on "The Burbs?" I went to see it 1980-something with some friends. It was marketed as a funny, lighthearted movie, i.e. not highly cerebral. I liked it. Even though it had a lot of great actors (Hanks, Bruce Dern, Carrie Fisher, Corey Feldman, Gale Gordon, and Henry Gibson) it wasn't Academy Award caliber, but it also wasn't trying to be. It was just a fun movie, but some of the guys hated it. They thought it was going to be some bold statement about or condemnation of suburban life in America. I saw it as a movie about middle-aged boredom, and now that I am middle-aged (maybe a little past it) I appreciate the movie even more. If you have never seen it please go watch it and post your thoughts here. Thank you.
@@Baja2424this person might be of the age when polar express came out, they were the target audience. I was slightly older, so I knew him from forrest gump
Bosom Buddies here. 😱
Why was this so weirdly wholesome?
Nice 🖤🖤
I want to see tom return as robert langden in the lost symbol.
mama said they'd take me anywhere
This should be on the Andy richter best one liners
Thought for sure they'd reference the movie 'Splash!' there. 😊
Not sure any actor has acted with wet head as much; has to be going for a record. Castaway, Forrest Gump, Captain Phillips... even Money Pit(wet paint anyway).
Saving Private Ryan, Joe vs. the Volcano, Turner and Hooch ... Was there a splash ending to Sully and Apollo 13? I don't think I saw the end of those two.
Besides Forrest Gump, I also love him in Captain Phillips.

Minuets are musical pieces - "minutes" is what you were trying to say
The times you see aren't always accurate. The time the video was posted goes with when you loaded the page. If you were scrolling or you watched another video for 5 'minutes', then saw the suggestion for this video, it could still only say 2 minutes ago. This is despite you doing something for 5 minutes.
When you went into the comments, they were freshly loaded, so the time for them is more updated than the videos posted release time.
Tom Hanks can get away with calling a pod of whales "a school"
a pod, a gam, a herd, and a plump of whales
14 years ago I wondered for a LONG time what kind of technology was used to make those whales appear behind them for them and the audience to see, is the backdrop a giant LED screen... a projector.... a mirrored illusion reflected from a screen onto the backdrop.....
then I suddenly in rewatching this realized that no whale imagery was EVER there on the day... and they just added the whales digitally/layered in like a common streamer can do with a transparent video/GIF in OBS later. They and the audience saw NOTHING but the physical little bit of water which wetted Hanx.
It's interesting to reflect on how these effects are achieved! You might be right about the digital addition, especially considering how seamless it looks. However, there's also the possibility that they were added in pre-production, allowing the audience to see the effects through strategically placed monitors facing them. This method would create the illusion of whales in real-time for the audience, even if the physical backdrop remained unchanged. Either way, it's a clever bit of stagecraft that adds to the charm of the segment. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@mattmays9063There are definitely screens the audience members can watch or else most of them wouldn’t be able to watch the show clearly and obviously for bits that go outside the studio and pre recorded remotes. And I am pretty certain there are monitors that Conan and the guests can watch themselves on. So, you are probably right, everyone would have been able to watch it on possibly multiple screens.
Lol
Aaaaiiccee Cremee
Luuuu-tennant Daaaaannnn....
Tom hanks would make a good Davie Crockett and maby leo decaprio as kit carson
Pod of whales, not school. Just had to say
Have seen a lot of Tom Hanks movies, in fact probably the most of any Hollywood actor and I think Larry Crown was the only movie of his that I did not like!
He directed that movie I guess he can act but not direct
Sarah Ruth Ashcraft
Isn’t that the guy who killed Isaac cappy ?
I think he's the guy who lives rent-free in your head.
Great reply

Literally made up.
Not. One. Iota. Of. Proof.
Just something for weak minded sheep to mention, like they have some insider information, and feel oh so "cool" to be in a trailer trash club.
Was Trump in this video? Can you post a timestamp please?
Want link 🔗
I just watched two people tell lies for the sake of entertainment. 😢
It's called acting.
You watch people do that all the time, even in your regular everyday life. People lie to you constantly to make you feel better, and you probably believe them.
Epstien guy. Bye
Where was Trump in this video? I must have missed him.
I thought Lizzo was to be a guest, but this would have been too early.
Hey look its Harvey Weinstein best friend Tom Hanks.....
Lol
